I was driving my car out of the garage and the side view mirror clipped the garage door track and bent it, making it impossible for the garage door to close. I was panicked. Beats paying 3 to 4K for a new garage door. I would highly recommend this company if you have a older garage door with the old pressed wood crap and need a repair. Since my garage door was not working I had them fix the opener problem, which they did. Then I asked about a tune up of my 2 large wood garage doors. The tech said I needed new rollers, which would cost about $700. I said that was too high. He said he would not charge for the opener repair ($50) and would not charge labor on the rollers. OK, he did the job and the invoice did not say no charge for labor but was the same price anyway. He just lump summed the whole thing. Gabriel was a good technician and his work was ok, but he absolutely gouged me on the price. Charged me $285 for an $80 spring. When he first looked at the door, I asked how much, and he said the spring would be between $150 and $300, but he'd have to measure it first. I should have known right then not to have him do the work- all the guys who do this for a living can take one look and know exactly which spring is needed, and therefore the cost. He waited until he'd taken everything apart to tell me it would be $285, plus the $150 labor charge. When I said I could get the same spring for $80, he got pissed off and told me he could just take his spring and leave without charging anything. I should have taken him up on the offer, but needed it fixed ASAP. He then tried to upsell me on a "better US-made" spring - for $687 !!! The company I'd originally contacted showed up today due to them not cancelling the service appointment, so I asked the technician what he would charge. $250, tops, which included a quick tune-up on all 3 of my doors. Gabriel charged me $471, said there were additional fees if I paid by credit card, and didn't lubricate the spring after the install... Very disappointed, to say the least. I've called the people at Quality Garage Door, who must have subcontracted the job to Pop's. Update! 40 minutes later... To their credit, Pop's immediately read the above review and Kayla called to apologize and make things right (thanks!). I'd call that great customer service! Changed review to 4-star. read more

Pop's came to my place, and "found" a lot wrong. Call was to fix the "eye" so the garage door would close. Proceeded to adjust the door and price went from $800 estimate, to $2200. No receipt, but promised that the receipt would be sent! Springs replaced! Within 12 hours, the garage door would not close all the way, leaving a 4" gap. The "alignment eye" was not working. I was attempting to contact Elizabeth Door,who we had used previously, but was misdirected by a phone number not connected to Elizabeth Door but placed in a pop up connected to a link to their legitimate website. Worst experience ever! My garage door opener was broken. A technician came out, saw the damage and quoted be $150 to fix. After it was fixed 20 minutes later, the garage door opened. I wrote a check for $150 and the technician stated the price was $350. He said he would settle for $250. Uncomfortably I paid the $250. As he was leaving the garage door didn't shut. He said it was a sensor issue, not his fault as he didn't touch it and left me with a garage door that still didn't work and down $250. I am so angry and disappointed with this transaction. Just like so many of the reviewers, my garage door stopped opening on me unexpectedly. I started calling asking neighbors for recommendations as well as searching online. I filled out the short survey for Pop's Garage Door Service and immediately Willie started texting me. So instead of waiting to call around to get a few people to come out and give me estimates, I made an appointment for the day. When the technician diagnosed that it was a broken spring, just as my neighbors had, I said ok. When he quoted the price ($870), I almost fell down down. This quote was more than double what all 3 of my neighbors paid for the same repair. Of course the technician said he was 'replacing' my old spring system with a newer/improved system instead of repairing it. I asked for a breakout of what the $870 covered. Other than the price for the system, I never got a full breakdown of the cost for the labor, warranty and other individual parts. It bothered me so I asked who I could call to get a better understanding of what I was being charged so much for. He (Matt/Max) got Willie on his phone. I thought that was kinda weird since he wanted to speak with him first instead of just giving me the number to call myself. Guess they needed to discuss the price/get on the same page. Willie told me the average cost of the repair $400-$1000, so their price was in the medium range. I also mentioned the prices I saw in the reviews. He then said, ok I will knock off $120 (so $750). The breakdown on the invoice was $470 for the system/$280 for labor. The entire repair took less than an hour (verified by my cameras). As others have stated, I believe I have the most expensive garage door repair in my neighborhood. I KNOW I was overcharged, but I bit that bullet. I also know, after making calls, I would have paid about $250-300 less what I did pay. If not for wanting to put my car in the garage, without manually working the door, I would have waiting for additional estimates. At the agency that I work for, candor/honesty and integrity are vital attributes. I would suggest to anyone that requires this type of repair to get at least 3 estimates, especially if the price seems high, before proceeding with Pop's. I also want to mention, I made the appointment time (12:30-2) based on having to go into work and when I knew I could get away. The technician called me before 10am asking if he could be there in about 45 minutes. I told him I was at work and could not be there before the scheduled appointment window. He then said "there's not way I can be there between 11-11:30. I again said NO, I'm at work and I have a meeting, that's why I scheduled for the time that I had. read more
