Sweet people behind the counter. Nice alternative to fast food. Thus is not home cooking unless your mother just opened cans of greens and never seasoned them. Or cans of corn without butter, or cans of gravy rather than making it. But having said rhat...if you KNOW that's what you're going to get instead of a cardboard hamburger from McDonald's it's good. I'm so glad my husband found this place! We stopped in Lindale on our way through on a long road trip, and this place was just what we needed. Good food, friendly people. Yes, the fried fish is good, but some of the other entrees are not so fresh. They advertise a senior plate, but questioned that I was old enough to get the discount. When I offered to show my license, they dropped it. But the sneakiest hidden up charge ($.75) was when I used my debit card. If I could give it NO stars I would. The chicken was cold and dried out. The mashed potatoes were out of a box and not even fixed according to the directions. The corn had sat in hot water so long it was hard. My friends meatloaf was so salty she couldn't eat it. Spoke to the manager and all he said was that he would give me my money back. We've eaten here before and was great. Got their fried catfish. Stopped by on Friday on our way out of town to get fish. Was given chicken. Gave it back and said we would like the fried fish. Were told it would be five minutes. We didn't mind because the last time was so good. Two minutes later we are given our order. First of all it was half what we got last time. Then we tried to eat the fish. It must have been from the day before and put in the microwave and warmed. It was not fresh. It was awful. Lesson learned. Won't go back to this location. read more
