Went for the first time today for breakfast. I ordered Pops breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs that look more like marbles swimming in grease. Raw home fries that they told me were grilled, but they were obviously dipped in oil to flash cook them. And thrown on the grill for 30 seconds. The iced tea tasted like city water, with no tea flavour whatsoever. My son's French toast was basically dry bread with burnt egg on the outside, like they waved it over the egg and threw it on the grill. My rye toast was basically warm bread. First and last time at that place!! I have to say, the waitress is very pleasant through all the mishaps ! read more

So I guess this place is now named Melissa's Country Diner! We stopped here on the way home short cut from the beach on PA 272. Anyway we went in place looked bright, cheery & clean. We were seated right away! They were social distancing but no masks or gloves! Menu at lunch time was mostly sandwiches burgers and chicken fingers nothing really difficult! The wife had a BLT which she said was good bacon done crispy the way she likes and a nice slice of tomato and crisp lettuce I ordered the Chicken Fingers came with coleslaw I asked for Honey Mustard dip! The chicken fingers were hot and typical of numerous other places I've been to! Cole slaw was tasteless and warm I'm not a Cole/Cream Slaw fanatic anyway but I usually pass it on to my wife but she said it was warm and ehhh! She shared he pickle with me one bite it was soggy and tasteless also! We both had coffee which we both thought was tasteless & stale! Leftover & Reheated? Reading the past reviews it said this place was on Restaurant Impossible a few years back and now it's under new ownership since then! Hopefully they turn it around but I'm not impressed! read more

This restaurant is now called Melissa's Country Grille. Melissa and her staff did a fabulous job at our family and friends luncheon with high quality food and service. We had a group of 30+ people arrive for our luncheon after our memorial service at Mt. Zion Church. This was a preplanned luncheon. The assorted sandwiches, potato salad and other sides were perfect. This is my third visit to restaurant(s) in this location. Once before Restaurant Impossible came (it was lousy and so in need of the makeover), once immediately after (to which they did away with the majority of the menu/service changes the show implemented and it was still lousy), and just this past Saturday under a new owner. Some of the design elements left behind from the show were still visible; the wooden tree cut outs and thick moldings. Too bad they didn't keep up with maintenance or cleaning. Robert Irvin would be so disappointed. But I believe this building must be cursed, or maybe just run by folks with no business sense or taste buds. All three visits were subpar and our latest under new ownership was no exception. First off the menu is VERY limited. No wraps, one salad, very little selection of anything. Secondly why provide a breakfast menu if eggs and gravies are not served after 11am? Thirdly the food is very mediocre. Kids meal is frozen. Mac and cheese was obviously old and reheated and reheated to the point the cheese was just crumbles. The bread on my blt was barely toasted yet hard and stale from age. Burger was cheap but lifeless and void of flavor. No wonder we were the only patrons the time of our visit, a busy Saturday afternoon when folks are out and about finishing up last minute Christmas errands. I don't even know how they can afford to pay the 5 staff members standing around in need of something to do. Too bad they don't see the restaurant in the same way we did as there was plenty they could be doing. From our table we could see the thick dust and food splatters on the wall, woodwork, and blinds. Than there's the fly that kept buzzing around our food relentlessly, in winter no less. Don't see this "diner" lasting long either. read more

We used to look forward to this place when it was RD's American Grill. They had a memorable Guinness battered fish and baked beans recipe. I was so disappointed when I realized the new ownership. The menu selection is boring. I had the chicken fried steak w/ Mac and cheese and green beans. Had to season everything! Gravy and beans were tasteless, and I'm used to bland food on low sodium diet at home. Green beans were water logged from a can. The salad bar is gone. Service is friendly, but I can open canned food at home myself. I'll miss the creative menu from previous chef owner. read more

Worst meal I've ever had. No joke. Greens beans were bitter and clearly microwaved. Mashed potatoes weren't mashed. Big chunks of cooked potatoes also cold. NY strip steak was less than a quarter inch thick and also well done when I asked for rare. I will never come back. Also I don't see this place staying open long. It sucks! read more

Went there this morning for breakfast and it was great! My wife and I ate really good food that came out super fast and left paying less than $16 for the both of us! I had two eggs, toast, coffee, bacon, and hash. My wife had coke , French toast, hash, and bacon. Really great environment too. I brought my grandparents here for dinner because I had gone once before and loved the food. I ordered Mac and Cheese, and the first time they brought it out, it was ice cold. Not even warm, but as if it had been taken out of a refrigerator and plopped on my plate. It also clearly had been made days before and looked, for lack of a better word, chunky. I told the waitress it was cold and sent it back. She brought it back a few minutes later, and it was the exact same food on the plate, nothing fresh. The Mac and Cheese had been microwaved and was now chewy and inedible. I sent it back again, and this time they finally made fresh, real Mac and Cheese for me. By this time, it had been almost 45 minutes and my grandparents had already finished eating. My grandmother ordered chicken, which was dry, and her side of green beans came from a can. I would not recommend this restaurant if you enjoy food that is fresh, warm, and has been cooked recently. read more
