We have been going to Jake's for several years now. We're there most every Saturday for breakfast and know many of the staff by name. Staff always greets us, and most times, they seat us and bring us our drinks before we even order, we're there that often. The food is always top notch, and we look forward to every seasonal menu change to see what new items, or old favorites return. I highly recommend this restaurant for lunch also, but you can get breakfast or lunch any hour they're open. My husband's current favorite breakfast is the barbacoa omelet, and there are so many good things on the menu, I can't pick a favorite! The old Bender's and Salunga Family Restaurant is a good breakfast spot. Very good coffee which is vital to any breakfast spot! Old school decor, which calls out the building and business history is a nice touch. The only reason they get a three and not a higher score is not offering egg whites. My daughter was told they "didn't have" egg white. Sorry, but if you have eggs and fingers, you have egg whites. Let the customer decide if they want to pay a premium, if needed. Been coming here at least once a week for about a month and a half. Everything so far has been delicious and creative. The Reuben sandwich was just wonderful with real slow roasted corned beef brisket sliced thick. Not the usual deli corned beef Reuben. Same with the corned beef hash with eggs. Really well made rather than corned beef hash out of a can. Inside is bright and airy. Small counter but works for me! I've driven past this place so many times before and I'm really glad I finally stopped in. Plenty of parking out back accessible from the alley. read more

Jake's on Main is an unassuming gem in the outskirts of the Salunga metropolis. Not much to speak of from the outside, and inside has a fairly benign (and quiet) atmosphere. Not too big, not too loud- even full on a Saturday morning, it was pretty hushed until a table of 4 middle-aged women arrived and spiced things up. But they weren't the main attraction. The main attraction? The menu, small but powerful! There aren't a lot of offerings TBH- but man oh man, everything was a decision. It all looked good. Some people make food, and it was obvious that this was more than a menu of food. There are some really creative pairings and flavor combinations that have lovingly been created, and the execution of our choices were spot on. I had the carnivore omelette- and the wife had the herbivore. Both were fantastic. Serving sizes, flavors, presentation- all were fantastic. Kudos to whoever designed the menu- it is great! Service was great- translating that my coffee cup was kept full. Food arrived quickly, and bathrooms were clean. Big fans, although it may be a bit too far from Ephrata to make it a common occurrence. But yes, I will now find reasons to eat breakfast in Salunga. More importantly, the food was delicious. I had the Ciccio sandwich which packed tons of flavor. Menu is well done. The ambiance is great - you almost wouldn't realize it's a restaurant from the outside it looks more like a house. But inside, it's like an old school diner vibe. The food is great - my only suggestion is that their home fries appear to be French fries cut up. If these were truly hand cut potatoes, everything would be perfect. The best part of my meal was the smoked Gouda grits. Whoever came up with that combo is a food genius. The chicken tacos were five-finger-lickin' delicious. On gawd! My family of four ate a hearty and delicious meal on a budget (under $50). Nobody said anything when the waitress came around to ask if everything was okay which is a good sign (let the food hold your mouth, as my grandpa used to say). I just put up the O-K finger sign and winked at her. My hubby says his fries could've been cooked longer but the kitchen was super busy and might have rushed to get the food out.
