Exactly what you would expect from this adorable local establishment! Super convenient location with lots of parking. There's a booth section, a bar area, and an entire dining room. Super cute decor and comfortable seating. A very welcoming place where you feel like you are eating at a friend or family members house! Every single employee is polite, friendly, and you can tell they are happy to be serving you. The menu has lots of options that vary from burgers, pasta, club sandwiches, terrific appetizers, salads, etc. Such a great mix of food that you are bound to enjoy anything that you order. We went with the chicken parm and a chicken/ham/crab sandwich (sans bun). Both had terrific flavor and the portion was perfect! This place is full of choices and the quality of what you are ordering is beyond reasonably priced! It was really great being able to not just feel welcomed and in a down home vibe, but to also be able to get a fantastic meal for such a great price! Been going there for years nice they updated the decor but the food sure has changed for the worse . Breakfast was always good anytime of day but not tonight . Had no hasbrowns after we ordered had to get French fries no other options . Charged extra for onions for burger not on burger ? Food tasted old English muffin that they charge extra was gross tasted frozen then reheated . Found a new place called pops place in Quarryville food was excellent , no more peach bottom or delta family so disappointing ! This is old school American family restaurant. With the little seating in the front and dining area in the back, with a bakery casing in the front. It was a nice clean little spot, has that family feeling to it. For a Sunday, it was not very crowded. I tried the chili which was good! Not spicy but full of flavor. I was told that the chicken fried steak was a must. I haven't had one in a few years and this place takes the cake for it. It was so tasty, and the gravy on top was the perfect combo with it. The mashed potatoes were not the best but they paired good with the corn! If you're in the area for a nice meal that is not expensive this is the place. read more

We go to the DFR quite often because they are close and quite reasonably priced. Depending on when you go, the place can be very busy with a long wait. Some of the servers are friendly and attentive and some are not. There is one that is terrible! Most of the food here is pretty good, but occasionally you get a dud. The biggest issue is that most of the time, it is luke warm at best. Their chicken parm is delicious, but I've never had it be hot. I don't know how this happens, as it usually arrives fairly quickly. That is, unless, you get the slow poke! The place seems clean, so that's a plus. read more

Today is Sunday and I've never seen this restaurant so crowded for breakfast. Maybe that's why our food wasn't as good today. I came a few months ago on a Sunday and experienced the same issue with quality. My issue maybe a weekend thing. Biscuits in gravy were rocks. Pancakes we're good but eggs weren't cooked to order and Belgian waffle with chocolate chips simply had chips which were sprinkled atop that never melted. Nice server but we never got refills. We have been to this restaurant twice and will probably go again if in the area. However, we felt compelled to write and warn people of the seemingly hostile bus girl who cleans and separates the dishes for the dishwashers. She is stationed out in the restaurant and clangs almost every dish with a scowl on her face. She had our nerves on edge the whole meal. The rest of the staff was friendly and effecient. Food was good. Note to patrons: don't stand around talking near the cashier. It's to crowded. There are places were you can gather if you meet friends. Just not right there. : ) read more

We ordered BLTs, grits, and home fries. Everything was sub-par. The BLT was dry, and bacon was almost inedible. Home fries were mushy. Tasted more like baked potatoes. The grits were undercooked and still crunchy. Whoever they have cooking doesn't belong in a kitchen. Staff was friendly, and that's the only compliment I can give. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise, great food and great service. We went to Kilgore Falls and when we left we were hungry. We ordered a double cheeseburger and fries, only $7. We began driving to Delta Family Restaurant which is 22-miles away, instead of going down the street to Cracker Barrel Old Country Store which is 3-miles away. Cracker Barrel's quality and service have hit an all-time low, while their prices have hit an all-time high. Slowly, over time, Cracker Barrel has not maintained its core corporate values, not just the location in New Freedom, but the location in York, too. We would occasionally go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because we were not impressed by their lunch or dinner menu items. One of our most significant problems with Cracker Barrel is that no matter how specific you are when giving the server your order, the cooks are unable to prepare scrambled eggs adequately. We both like our scrambled eggs prepared soft and loose. Inevitably, the scrambled eggs always come out of the kitchen overcooked and brown. On several occasions, we had to send our eggs back multiple times. I do not understand if you cook eggs all day long why you wouldn't know how to prepare soft, loose scrambled eggs? I used to like Cracker Barrel's French Toast with their 100% Maple Syrup. However, now they do not offer 100% Maple Syrup anymore. The syrup is a high-fructose syrup that you can buy at any supermarket. There wasn't any reason for us to continue patronaging Cracker Barrel Old Country Store any longer. My mother was introduced to Delta Family Restaurant by another family member. She and I visited the restaurant several times for breakfast. Their prices are very reasonable. The parking lot is always jammed-packed. We always ask for the same server who is friendly, professional, and fast. On the most recent visit, I tried the Belgian Waffle, Creamed Chipped Beef on Rye Toast, and coffee. My mother got the Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast, an English Muffin, Grits, and coffee. Although I've had breakfast at Delta Family Restaurant on prior occasions, I wasn't as satisfied with my food choices this time. It was evident that the Belgian Waffle was made from a store-bought mix. The Creamed Chipped Beef was a sad representation of beef. Again, it was store-bought, dried, flavorless, beef. Honestly, it tasted like little pieces of leather. I am not going to be too harsh on Delta Family Restaurant based on this one visit because my previous visits were delightful. The restaurant is not really what I would consider being "local" to anything, but it is worth the drive for breakfast. I would like to try the restaurant for lunch or dinner sometime. I have heard that the restaurant is good for meals other than breakfast, too. read more

So while eating breakfast an elderly couple came in and the young man at the counter asked them where they wanted to sit. While they were deciding he commented I have nothing better to do while you decide I am here all day. This is the last time I will ever come here or order food from here. Asked for manager and no manager here. Only cook manager and head waitress. They said it was not inappropriate since they were regulars. If this is how you treat your regulars then this is not the place to eat. If this is how the younger generation shows respect, and the leaders of the business allow it to happen then this business should not be supported. read more

We stopped by here on a whim while just driving down the road and weren't quite sure what to expect, but there were a decent amount of cars in the parking lot which is a good testament, especially in a very rural area. My wife ordered french onion soup and salad and I got fried chicken with salad, pickled beets, and carrots (trying to stay slightly healthy). The french onion soup was a touch salty, but flavor-wise was one of the best we've had...and she orders french onion soup in a lot of places. The pickled beets were delicious and the carrots were cooked perfectly. The fried chicken was awesome. Nice and crispy, but not too much skin and batter. The chicken itself was super moist and very tender. We were seated quickly and our server was very attentive without going overboard.
