Went to Dr. Weir for a routine cleaning. They wanted to do multiple X-rays including a panoramic…read morebefore they even looked in my mouth. No exam no clinical evaluation nothing. Just straight to imaging before a single instrument touched my teeth. I declined because there was no clinical reason to image me yet. They hadn't even examined me. The ADA's own guidelines updated January 2026 say X-rays should only be ordered after a clinical exam establishes a reason. You can't justify imaging a patient you haven't looked at yet. That's not dentistry that's a revenue protocol. When I declined they refused to proceed with the cleaning I came in for. They would not clean my teeth unless they got their X-ray money first. So a routine cleaning was held hostage behind unnecessary imaging I never consented to as part of that visit. They had already taken the panoramic before I had a chance to fully decline it then charged me for it anyway when I walked out. When I pushed back the dentist tried to justify it by saying "digital X-rays give off less radiation than the old ones." That's a true fact used to dodge the real question. Less radiation doesn't mean you need the image. The question was whether there was any clinical reason to X-ray me at all and the answer was no because they hadn't even looked in my mouth yet. Here's the part that should actually worry people. The panoramic X-ray machine is visible from the waiting room. No shielding. No lead walls. No separated room. There's also an X-ray machine mounted in every single exam room. No lead-lined doors. Nothing. Every person sitting in that waiting room including kids is potentially catching scatter radiation every time they image someone. Dental X-ray rooms are required by state radiation safety regulations to have structural shielding. This office doesn't appear to have any. This isn't healthcare it's a billing conveyor with a radiation safety problem on top. They image every patient who sits in the chair because the panoramic machine needs to keep paying for itself. A panoramic runs $100-$250 and costs them basically nothing to produce once the equipment is paid off. Nearly pure profit and they won't even clean your teeth unless you let them run it first. I have reported this office to the Maryland Department of the Environment Radiological Health Program for the unshielded radiation equipment. I will file a complaint with the Maryland Board of Dental Examiners for requiring imaging with no clinical exam and charging for an X-ray taken before informed consent. I will file a health billing complaint with the Maryland Attorney General Consumer Protection Division for the unauthorized charge. If you've been to this office and had a similar experience I'd encourage you to do the same.

I have a mild case of PTSD from going to the dentist as a child. When I was a toddler, my top 4…read morebaby teeth rotted out from my mom putting honey on my pacifier (it was the 70s). My small town, rural dentist replaced the rotten baby teeth with fake silver ones until my adult teeth grew in, and the experience was traumatizing. During that procedure, I ended up biting the dentist (it hurt!) and he bit me back!! I always seemed to have cavities as a kid, and the sound of the drill can still send me into a panic. My parents wouldn't tell me until the day of my appointment that I was going because I would agonize for days leading up to the visit. As an adult, I still have trouble getting fully numb for fillings, and just the thought of going to the dentist triggers the fight/flight response. Dr. Edland is the first dentist who truly listened and worked with me on my trouble with Novocain. He is patient, and waits until the anesthetic fully takes hold. There has been one time where I could still feel pain after he started drilling - he stopped, injected more anesthetic, and waited for it to take effect. I can't tell you how grateful I am for his kind and gentle demeanor. He also fully explains everything he is doing, keeping you updated on how far he's gotten and how much work is left. He is pragmatic and doesn't push you into procedures that can wait. And his staff is just as wonderful! Receptionist Liz is an absolute delight. She always makes you feel like you're her favorite patient. Edie assists Dr. Edland during procedures and is attuned to your needs throughout. She always provides comfort and reassurance during stressful visits. Valerie is one of the dental hygienists who is so sweet and gentle. Everyone at this practice is amazing. I used to go to this place for years. They always offered me the mouth guard which I never…read morepurchased because of the price. Also I have sleep apnea which makes it hard to wear a night guard since I have a mask that covers both mouth and nose. They mentioned there was a mouth guard that would help with sleep apnea/snoring as well but they said that the insurance usually does not cover it. Last time I visited, I had a new insurance company that covered medical and dental insurance. I asked if they could ask for an estimate to see if they would cover the sleep apnea mouth guard. (Out of all the times I visited they always showed me the same mouth guard device that had two pieces and was connected my a piece of plastic/metal that would push your jaw forward to help with snoring) After they check with the insurance they said that the insurance would partially cover the mouth guard. When I was on the visit they scanned both my top and bottom teeth. I thought that they understood that due to the sleep apnea I would not be able to use a regular mouth guard since it makes it hard to breathe with a full mask on. When I got there to pick up my mouth guard they showed me a piece that THEY HAD NEVER SHOWN ME BEFORE. The piece was only for the top part of the teeth. I asked why I was getting this and they said that they told me that this is what I agreed on. Which is not true. I was never shown this piece. If they would have shown me this. I would have not gotten it. They knew that a regular mouth guard will be hard to use with a CPAP machine. They said to try and see if it would work. I did. And just like I knew it would happen it doesn't work. I did see that the claim the submitted to the insurance was for 600 and my co pay was 146. Which I paid. For a one piece mouth guard that I cant use. And I cannot return. It's been very frustrating and disappointing to be treated like this. They knew my condition and I was not shown the second "mouth guard" only the sleep apnea one. They tried to call me and offered to put the $146 towards the sleep apnea mouth guard but the price for it would be $700. I would not recommend this place. Do not get the mouth guard even though the offer it often. Now I have a $146 device that I cannot return and I cannot use.

To resolve his broken filling, Dr. Askary's put a crown on that tooth. My husband didn't have pain or concern about that tooth prior to the crown installation, and he could eat just fine without any issues. However, everything changed after the crown was put-- and it's very bad. We trusted Dr Askary that that treatment was the best for him. Wrong decision. Follow up visit, Dr. Askary, he said that my husband has an infection. Antibiotic were prescribed, finished and no change in pain. We went to root canal specialist, and He said that my husband didn't have infection on his tooth which contradicts Dr Askary diagnostic. Root canal was done. Sensitivity to cold and hot gone but the pain still on. The pain never went away. My husband has been suffering since day 1 (9/15/2025) until now for a pain, to the point that is affecting his regular lifestyle. After consulting with Dr. Askary further, Dr. Askary seemed like he did not want to examine the issue further, stating that he did a good job and nothing else could be done. I contacted Dr. Askary on 1/5/2025 to hopefully resolve the issue further, but he was very rude on the phone, exclaimed that he did not make any mistakes, and did not seem interested in addressing and finding a solution to my husband's insufferable pain. The conversation became so unpleasant that He hung up the phone on me. This is neither professional nor remotely considerate. We contact a specialist, this doctor found that my husband's #30 tooth was broken to the root, for which the solution was a tooth extraction. Dr. Askary's lack of cooperation, incompetence, and negligence costed me and my family more than $1000 in extra out-of-pocket expenses. PLEASE BE AWAY FROM THAT OFFICE.

I had several old silver fillings that I wanted replaced due to cosmetic reasons, a build up from a route canal that had no pain and a tooth that was slightly chipped . Dr. Dinh refused to replace the fillings until I had agreed to let him crown both teeth with no pain. I should have ran. I finally agreed to let him crown the two teeth ( one was a molar). After he finished, I had to return to him approximately 7 times complaining that food was getting trapped in between the molar and it had became very painful. Instead of replacing the crown he continued to give me the run - around. Mind you, I had been going to him every 6 month to have my teeth cleaned , examined and x-rayed. All of a sudden he said i had bone loss where he put the crown. I ask, "how could this be"? As a result of his negligence I have severe bone loss where he put the crown and now the tooth has to be extracted. The tooth in front of the molar has constantly hurt every time I bite down on it. He continued to con his way through every visit. Please, run from him if you want to keep all of your teeth in your head. Wait time 10 minutes

I had asked if they were covered by my insurance & she said yes so I went ahead and got it. The second time I received it for my other side, the front desk tried to charge me over $400 for it. I was like no- it should be covered that's what I was told by Dr. H. They said okay no worries we'll take care of it. They are calling me now 4 months later saying I have a $700+ bill overdue that I've never received nor was told about when I closed my account in November because of these treatments. Even the person on the phone was telling me she's shocked it's so much because she usually only sees it for $30 a tooth... make it make sense. Where did this bill all of a sudden come from? They better figure it out because I wouldn't have gotten the treatment otherwise if they had stuck to their word. Or had come back multiple times if I had known they were going to be so mistrusting to their word. I'm honestly exhausted of financial malpractice at dentist offices. I had thought I finally found a decent one. But this really took me over the edge. They told me at the end of last year that for 2026 they would stop taking my insurance, Delta Dental, which so many people have. Clearly, there is a disconnect between the patient/doctor experience & financial department & they'll continue to lose patients if they continue this. So beware!
