They did everything from a paver-stone patio, new irrigation and sod, removing and re-locating existing trees and plants, adding lights, and even retrofitting and setting up an old fountain of ours that had been used as a planter. I can't say enough about Andres and his crew, they were hard working, professional and had great ideas for improving our design. Lastly, Laurie came in and helped with the grand design of our planting scheme. With her knowledge of plants, she made the most of our existing plants and then added her touch with additional planting that turned our backyard into a wonderland. We love our new backyard and are so happy we chose Sterling Gardens Nursery to do the job.

After we went to the latter with only partial success, DH suggested going to Sterling. He'd been there before, while I had only wanted to visit but had never stopped in. It's beautifully laid out. Though it's a nursery, selling all manner of trees and other plants, it's arranged to feel like you're visiting a designed garden. Once we drove into the heart of the property I was somewhat confused on where to stop and park. DH remarked that they had done some major rearranging since he'd last been there, so he wasn't sure where to direct me to go. We found a spot that wasn't blocking any of their driveways, then got out to take a look around. We weren't seeing any succulents, nor any employees to ask. I was soaking up the beautiful surroundings when one of the staff offered to help. He said that they don't sell smaller succulents, only one and five gallon pots. That's not going to work for us at this stage, so we thanked him and moved on to another stop. I would plan to return when looking for larger landscaping needs.

It's open from 8am to 5pm daily with an all-star cast of incredible knowledgeable and caring individuals who help keep GTN great. Grab a wagon and load up because you won't know when to stop with some many great plants, deals on supplies and their inviting layout. As a small chain of garden centers meets plant nurseries I have to say this location stands out. Their online shop is easy also with get learning materials, newsletters , resources and even a plant library. I'll never forget my first trip here with my friend Sam, definitely need to hit her up again for a plant day, but absolutely still enjoy coming here with others and of course solo for some planty self-care. Adding some Elephant Bush (Portulacaria afra) friends to the plant family at home. Absolutely and 818/SFV/LA Valley favorite among many. You'll want to get lost between the many areas the have here and in the main area as well as their extended open air garden on the parking lot side. Staff here is very personable and extremely knowledgeable. From lawn and outdoor patio furniture or fixtures, fountains, decorations and plant care musts, GTN has a bit of it all. Even fun seasonal items and sales. Entrance in back, where you'll also find their parking lot, fairly spacious, but it can and does fill up on weekends. Restroom available for customers.

This place and the service is amazing! I visited The Standard Design Group while looking for olive…read moretrees. I was impressed by the size of this nursery, the variety of trees, sizes available for purchase, health of the plants and soil they come in, and of course, Maribel, who has been so helpful and patient while I design my landscape. Maribel helped us choose trees that were within our budget, showed us how to trim them, and helped us with design ideas for our space. When I told her I needed fragrant trees, with small (non invasive root systems), that only grew a certain size, she quickly texted me a variety of choices, then drove us around her nursery showing us all the trees. She's incredibly knowledgeable, easy to work with, and is available always to answer our questions. She makes every member of my family feel special (especially my niece/nephew that have visited the nursery with me). When I show her pictures of what I'm looking to accomplish she can quickly tell me the names and characteristics of the plants I like. She's just amazing!!! I highly recommend Maribel and I can't wait to come back and visit when I'm redoing the landscape in a different property.

I would not recommend Standard Group to anyone. This is, without question, the worst landscaping…read morecompany I have ever dealt with. We were charged approximately $35,000 to landscape our front and backyard, and we were promised high-quality materials, including large 50-gallon plants and flowers. Instead, they installed the smallest five-gallon plants they could find. The grass was also the cheapest quality, was poorly leveled, and started dying almost immediately. We wanted privacy trees installed along one side of our brick wall. Standard Group recommended ficus trees and planted them only three feet from our pool because that was the only space available. We later learned that ficus trees should be planted at least 10 feet away from a pool structure. Because of their poor recommendation and installation, we had to hire another landscaping company to remove and replant all of the trees, costing us thousands more. We also asked for flowers and plants in a large area, but instead, Standard Group simply covered it with approximately two inches of wood chips. The wood chips covered our sprinkler heads and drainage areas, and their work resulted in broken pipes. We were charged $4k for landscape lighting, only to discover later that they used the cheapest lights available and charged us far more than the installation was worth. We also paid $800 for a Meyer lemon tree that we never received. After repeatedly contacting the owner Dave and expressing my frustration, I finally received a tree months later - but it was a standard lemon tree, not the Meyer lemon tree we paid for. This entire experience was an absolute nightmare and felt like a complete rip-off. Standard Group charged us thousands of dollars while cutting corners everywhere, using the smallest plants and cheapest materials possible, and failing to deliver what was promised. Before hiring this company, read the one-star reviews carefully. Many customers describe similar experiences. Based on what happened to us, be extremely cautious and do not use Standard Group. In my experience, this company is unprofessional, significantly overcharges customers, and does not deliver the quality or materials it promises.
