I don't like getting plumbing parts in the big brand stores. So much walking and looking around, and finding someone to help out. Why not go to where the plumbers go? Tapo isn't open as many hours, but much more convenient for parking and having someone who knows what they're doing. read more

This is where plumbers go to buy their supplies. I was looking to replace my bathroom fixtures and didn't like anything I saw at HD or Lowes; I dropped by a specialty store and found what I liked but learned their lead-time was ~3 weeks on the Moen faucet I liked. Tapo Plumbing ordered the same part for me and got it in stock in 3 days. I didn't have to prepay, I just told her what I wanted and she called me when it arrived. I've been here several times since and will continue to give them business when I can. Ana is no nonsense but knows her stuff and was very helpful to me; the trades people that frequent this place seem to have a good rapport with her too. After going to another large plumbing supply here in Simi Valley, who didn't seem to know anything about my problem... As I walked into Tapo Plumbing, the woman behind the counter said to me, "oh, Delta tub handle", as she noticed what I was carrying in my hand ( first indication she knew her stuff ). I'm a do-it-my-damn-self kind of guy. I take this notion to ridiculous extremes too... and I have the scars and the hernia to prove it. I have finally deduced that my true hobby is collecting tools as all of my other "hobbies" really revolve around buying tools... antique car restoration, gardening, woodworking, shooting, even cooking. Anyway, plumbing is usually where my can-do attitude and Mr. Fixit knowledge fall woefully short. It never ceases to amaze me that the seemingly simplest plumbing project requires no fewer than three trips to Home Lowes Depot. Also, Lord help the fool who needs to ask for help in the plumbing (or electrical) department at one of the big box joints. Sometimes the answer is just wrong... sometimes it is downright dangerous. This problem sent me to look up an old-school type plumbing supply place. My fear (not unfounded) was that these shops are the lair of the professional and are often hostile to the homeowner/do-it-yourselfer. This is, thankfully, not the case at Tapo Plumbing Supplies. My first trip there was to solve a drippy shower. I decided I was NOT going to grow old at Home Lowes Depot so I walked into Tapo's door with the valve stem in my hand (important tip there folks) and the guy behind the counter said something like "Oh, that is a WhizBang 4000... your house must have been built in 1983. How many do you need? Did you know that more modern handle and trim packages will soon be available for that valve?" Holy cow! I was in heaven. My next trip was when the faucet in the bathroom sink started to drip drip drip. (My 5-year-old chastised me for being wasteful with the water...) I once again walked in with the valve in my hand (there is that tip again) and the same guy said "Oh a Price-Phister-Flowmaster XYZ... you want both sides, right? The one with the notch in the stem is for the cold water side." I love this place. If your faucet is being wasteful and you don't want to spend two hours at Home Lowes Depot digging thorough racks and racks of plumbing parts while never being sure if the one you need is even in the store... No prices on anything; It's all subjective. They don't give you an itemized receipt. After spending lots of money here, I realized that they totally price-gouged me by over $200. I took the shower hardware to the job site and realized they sent me the wrong part with the wrong finish. I went back to return the item and the woman working there acts so blasé about packing the WRONG item in the box. I will never come here again. A plumber was at the store and heard the phone call and said what is your address and showed up and showed me how to lite the pilot properly , what a great service this place is you got to be kidding me , what a great place if business this is. What started as a simple swap out of a phlange on a drain stopper became a $500 job a few weeks later but I digress, this place had what i needed after going to 6 different plumbing supply stores. The phlange would not catch on the old drain assembly so I went back and bought a new drain assembly from them and installed it myself. The install went great and then the P trap started to leak, replaced the P-trap and the 90 elbow angle started to leak. After wrenching and banging the elbow joint it was hopeless so I finally broke down and called a plumber. They cleared the line after 90 minutes of snaking and cut off the elbow joint to replace it with a new plastic elbow and P trap and the sink works and drains great. I kept the other P-trap for my rentals just in case. Sorry if this is more of a rant than a review but the plumbing store saved my butt as least in the very beginning. The prices are also very reasonable!! read more

Went to this store as I like to give business to local merchants whenever possible, but feel ripped off. Needed a shower valve and figured such a common item would be competitively priced and I am close by so, why not? Got charged $55 for the same item Home Depot sells for $39. I don't mind paying a little extra to help local businesses, but hard to justify paying 1/3 more. Lady at counter was nice, but hardly friendly, definitely left feeling like they had done me a favor by letting me buy there. Won't be going back. read more

I was going to one of the big box stores to try and replace the pipe for my tub spout. I simply couldn't get the right length of brass nipple and extensions to make the length work out correctly. I wish I had known about Tapo Plumbing from the beginning, it would've saved me a lot of time and hassle. They were very helpful with my small DIY problem even though they had many professional tradesmen in their store. I really appreciate the personal attention and patience they showed and, most importantly, my project is now finally done!
