One of our favorite "To Go" places. Consistently perfect. Orders always correct, delicious, and reasonably priced. And, they get packed, so don't be in a rush. My only complaint is they close so early (8 pm), but this is common in Rockport We enjoy their BLT, Rooster Burger and Swiss Burger. Always consistently delicious. Also a shout out to the super friendly and efficient bartender. I regret not having her name. But while I was watching at the bar for our food, I was rummaging thru my bottomless bag. When she came with the food, she stopped down and handed me a $10 bill I dropped . That's says a lot! Definitely recommend Benchwarmers, and they also have a very nice Asian menu, Hu Wat. read more

The Kim chi fries blew my mind good! So unique and full of flavor! We got (we thought lunch special but were charged for dinners) beef lo mein which was such a good dish. They do use thin noodles but it was still good. Great amount of meat and the portion size could easily be 3-4 meals for me alone! Hubby got the sweet and sour chicken and enjoyed his meal, but did mention it could use some seasoning in the batter. He was happy it was truly all white meat. Both our egg drop and hot and sour soups were good! The service was semi slow, but she did a great job for how busy they were! It was an easygoing casual vibe. We would recommend as what we had was good and there is sooo much variety so anyone can find something they would like. read more

Our #1 food spot in Rockport! Honestly, the beach here isn't super impressive in our opinion but I will happily drive down from San Antonio just to eat here. The food is always incredible. They have the absolute best fish tacos I've ever had. And I eat, and make a lot of fish tacos. On our last visit we stayed for three days and ate here twice. A month later we are planning yet another trip and the food here is the biggest allure. Their prices are unbeatable for the portions and quality. Their burgers are always very tempting, maybe on my next visit I will branch out... but those fish tacos have me hooked! My hubby usually gets their fried fish platter and it's all excellent. It was busy when we arrived around 130pm on a Saturday but we were sat within 10 minutes. We were a party of 5 and all ordered something different and nothing disappointed!! Food was wonderful! Just to be clear Benchwarmers & Hudat are a combined restaurant that you can mix and match menu items at this location. This location is conveniently within walking distance of several hotels and was recommended by our hotel concierge. However, my experience at Benchwarmers was disappointing. I ordered the Fulton Burger from their menu, which had fried oysters placed between two burger buns. Unfortunately, the oysters were small and some of them had a strong fishy taste. I found it surprising that a place as busy as Benchwarmers could serve seafood with such an unpleasant flavor. The restaurant has a system with drink runners and food runners, but despite that, my fries were only lukewarm and almost cold. We had to make eye contact with the drink runner to get refills, and our main waitress only returned to give us the bill without even introducing herself. The atmosphere of the place felt similar to a busy Joe's Crab Shack, and it wasn't conducive to hanging out with friends since it was difficult to hear people on the other side of the table. With numerous employees walking around, it lacked a sense of personal attention. Additionally, the drinks were served in Styrofoam cups. In conclusion, I do not recommend this place. During my trip, I visited better spots for dining. However, a friend insisted on trying Benchwarmers and kindly paid for our meal as a wedding gift. read more

There are large signs posted throughout the restaurant claiming that they "are not a fast food restaurant" and that's understandable; however, we waited over an hour for just the two of us to get our food after waiting 55 minutes to be seated. There were people with reservations that had to continually check with the host about being seated well after their reserved time. That aside, our food was pretty good! We couldn't even decide what to order because everything that came out of the kitchen looked amazing. We were pleasantly surprised by the dual menu - Vietnamese or American pub style. We both enjoyed the wings and appreciated the diverse sauce options. If we are back in the area, we will be trying the Vietnamese. Our server was great and the menu is very affordable. The restaurant is extremely loud and everything echos off of the bare walls and concrete floors. I do not recommend this for a relaxing dinner or if you are over stimulated easily. read more

Benchwarmers bar good on one side of the building with Vietnamese Hu Dat on the adjoining side. You can order food from both menus regardless of which side you sit. Yummy and freshly fried Vietnamese egg rolls. Fresh coated fried cheese curds with marinara sauce. Both hit the spot for appetizers. Didn't order main dishes since we were eating later in the day but dang- everything we saw come out of the kitchen was piping hot and looked delicious. I manage a restaurant in San Antonio so I feel more than qualified saying this. This place was easily one of the worst places I have been to. We put a Togo order in and were told by a bar tender "it'll be a 30 minute wait due to the burger melt and kids chicken tenders". No problem we'll wait. We waited for 30 minutes and then checked in. They said "oh it'll be out in 5 minutes". We waited for another THIRTY minutes. All we ordered was a melt, tenders, beef and broc as well as another Asian dish. I work at a steakhouse and we have burgers as well as kids tenders. No where does it take a hour to make a burger with onions and cheese as well as fried tenders. Those two things should be out in 15 minutes LONGEST. Idk who the chef is but he need to get his kitchen in order if he thinks a hour for a burger and tenders is acceptable. On top of this when we received our food, the lady that handed it to us said ," sorry for the wait, I added more ketchup and soy sauce". At my restaurant if anything takes more than 30 minutes we buy the table. Finally, the fries had no seasonings, no salt, no pepper, it was just cut up potato. The burger was ok at best and I'm surprised it had 2 toppings considering it took a hour. The Asian food was drenched in sauce and was barely edible. I would give this 0 stars if I could. Step it up, I wouldn't be surprised to see this place go out of business in the next year or two. read more

We are in town for company work. We tried this place due to its rating & menu options. 1. Customer service was A-1 We had a guy named Joseph & he was on it. He didn't hesitate when he was asked a question. Some waiters won't know the menu well enough or have to double check. He just knew off the bat & considering it was our first time here, that was a plus for us. 2. Atmosphere was ok. It's a casual spot. It matches the name of the restaurant in my opinion. 3. Taste: We enjoyed our meals. We liked the fried batter used on the fried options. Everything tasted well. No complaints. I do prefer my fried Oreos to have a little less dough but the batter coating it was really good so that helped. That's just a preference thing. If we had to come back here if we come back into town we would. The options are cool. They have a burger joint that also serves an Asian fusion type of menu. We had a long wait for our food but didn't mind that since we'd already read all the reviews and signage posted around the building that let people know they aren't a fast food place. We drove to Rockport just for this spot because we heard the pho was great. It was meh. Probably the sweetest pho I've ever had, which was strange for me. I kept adding more Sriracha and soy sauce to fix the flavor through the time I was eating the soup, hoping it would get better and it never did. The meatballs were rubbery and had little things in the meat (which honestly is in most pho meatballs and why I don't get them). I only tried eating the meatballs because it hardly had any of the other meats that came with the soup. There was also very little noodles, which I wouldn't have minded if the broth had a better flavor. We did get a small bowl of fried rice and it was OK. The fried egg rolls were good. Other food that we saw come out looked and smelled really good. The ambiance was good. I'm no pho expert but since moving to the Victoria, TX area I've been on the hunt for a good pho soup and have yet to find it. Was hoping this place would be it but wasn't for me! I'm hesitant to write a review, I like the place but the two times I e eaten there someone in the family gets sick. But I can't say it's only from their food. Some places just don't agree with people. I will say I wasn't aware of the use of MSG, I'm allergic, not life threatening but I get sick and have a massive headache. So if you do to, be aware that they use it. The combo of food is odd. It's Chinese, Vietnamese and American bar food. The Chinese food is ok. Crab Rangoon has no crab just cream cheese and chives. My son did enjoy the kimchi fries though. He also had the noodle bowl and like it. The shrimp skewers were good and simple. The PoBoy was just a gross hoggie (stale and tasted funny) and shrimp with non ripe tomatoes and Lettuce. The drinks were a bit watered down. The staff is friendly and keeps your drinks full, especially if the waitress thinks your son is cute...lol I'm not sure we will go back. I'm sure my one son will. This establishment had a lot of firsts for me. I've never wanted less cheese on my nachos before, the cheese in question resembled plastic and tasted like about the same. The bbq was too sweet and there was barely any other toppings. Go ahead and Pass on the nachos or just stop by your local gas station for a similar experience. I ordered the hen sandwich and when it arrived it looked promising . Unfortunately When I bit into the sandwich the outside of the chicken was charred and the consistency was similar to a shoe. The chicken was grilled so I'm not really sure why it was sopping in grease. The bread fell apart due to all the grease leaving a tough tasteless chicken.
