After spending 3 1/2 hours on a dialysis machine, my husband tries to get me home as quickly as possible, because I feel dizzy and nauseous. A driver from First Transit Access #5934 decides to illegally park on one side of the circular drive in front of Liberty Dialysis and blocks my husband in. There is already another van picking up a patient on the other side of the circular drive. None of the First Transit Access patients were ready, so the driver is just sitting there keeping my husband and i from leaving the clinic. After waiting 15 minutes, the driver proceeds to load 3 dialysis patients into his vehicle. I got out of our car and asked him if he would kindly move his vehicle 5 feet, so we could get out, since I was not feeling well. I was taken back by his insensitive remark. He told me that he was not able to move, and then he proceeded to tell me that the circular drive was only for Access drivers. I have never heard of anything so stupid in my life! Where do they get these uneducated, heartless drivers at? Dialysis patients use many different forms of transportation...............family members, cabs, Uber, Access, and Lift. The builders of the Liberty Dialysis certainly did not put in the circular drive FOR ACCESS DRIVERS ONLY! What this driver did was illegal! HE WAS BLOCKING ACCESS IN AND OUT OF A MEDICAL FACILITY! They have emergencies all the time at the clinic, and patients need the medical attention of paramedics. The entire parking area was empty, so this driver could have parked his vehicle in several other places that were just as close without blocking other drivers from leaving. When the circular drive is full, as it was today, you simply park somewhere else in the empty parking lot. You don't park at the entrance or exit of the circular drive, blocking in sick patients that are trying to get home quickly. I am certainly going to report this illegal action with the PA Department of Health. First Transit Access needs to start fully vetting their drivers to ensure that they are competent to drive vulnerable patients to and from dialysis!

That are overworked underpaid and they force these individuals to work 60 -70 hours a week with no overtime pay, only 1 day off!! You don't have a decision in the matter! As far as being a passenger and getting access transportation it is horrible They are so understaffed that unless you have an emergency doctor's appointment or have to go to a program that's the only access you can get We have been told multiple times they cannot transport us to an outing or any place other than that! They give you a time to pick you up let's say 1pm,for your appointment at 145, They will be super early when you're not even ready to leave to go and then they're out there waiting on you and they only have to wait 5 minutes and then they leave! However I have had someone wonderful men that have gave us a longer to get ready!! Or they're so late and then We have to go pick up someone else in the opposite direction come back our direction to go where we're supposed to go! By this time we're late for our appointment we've been on the bus an hour longer than we should have to be on and we're frustrated the driver's frustrated and it makes for a very unsafe environment!!! These drivers are so tired they're making stupid mistakes that they normally wouldn't make and you can't even be upset with them because we know how overworked they are!! When you call in to report anything they don't care nothing's done and they lie! DO NOT GO WORK THERE! AND IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE of CHOOSING ANOTHER TRANSPORTATION SERVICE CHOOSE A DIFFERENT COMPANY!!! THEY CLASSIFY THEIR DRIVERS AS TAXI DRIVERS AND NOT PARATRANSPORT DRIVERS SO THEY DO NOT HAVE TO PAY THEM TIME AND A HALF AFTER 40hrs.. So these men and women are working 60 to 70 hours a week for pennies!!!

Leann took my call and provided excellent service from start to finish. She worked with me to determine the best vehicle for our 19-person group, obtained all the pertinent information for the pick up, drop off and return, and also provided a special accommodation for one of our guests with a mobility issue. This was an important group for our institution and in reading her notes on the order, it was clear that she was taking the lead to make sure they were treated on her end with the importance that I requested. She went out of her way to make sure our guests had beverages and assigned a terrific driver to bring everything together. Leann also kept in close contact with me throughout the day, letting me know when the group arrived, got on their way, etc. If you ever have transportation needs in Pittsburgh, I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this company. It's a really great (and unfortunately increasingly rare) thing to find people who are good at what they do and enjoy doing it. Regency is definitely one of those companies.
