I really enjoy coming here to get my dental needs fixed. I first came here when I was a little girl and now i am married with children and I still enjoy my cleanings from Linda. She is the best!. She is very thorough and quick with her cleanings. I never feel pain or discomfort when she is cleaning my teeth. I absolutely love Linda. I wont go anywhere else. I finally received an email from the boss Linda Porteous. In her email she said a lot of things, but never addressed the issue, the failed root canal. She went on to say that the dentist tried his best to help me. Again, never mentioned the failed root canal. Only after researching and finding the different places "Porteous Family Dentistry" was registered, and after trying all the different emails they use, I got one that worked. The boss Linda finally responded to me. Linda was focused and she told a story that was aimed at telling me everything was my fault. Linda never took responsibility for the dentist mistake. So, I had no other choice but to call Consumer Affairs and file a complaint. Consumer Affairs contacted me in about two days, It was nice to have someone listen and respond to me. I will be starting step two on Monday, I will keep you posted on my progress. read more

1 day I called maybe 4-5 months ago requesting a call back asking if they check out some tooth pain I was having they didn't wanna call me back. so I switched to a different dental office, because basically I don't want to feel like I'm bothering them even tho I was a customer of theirs for a very long time & nothing I ask regarding my dental needs should bother them neither it should be a issue. but hey I moved on nice doing business with this office it was it is. I have had a browning tooth that I have been extremely embarrassed about for a while. My daughter is about to have her Quinceañera this weekend and I wanted to be able to look back at pictures and smile. I haven't smiled in pictures in who knows how many years. I didn't have the funds for a porcelain veneer so I choose to do a temporary fix, tooth bonding. I can honestly say I left very satisfied today. My teeth have a straight shape to them and when my tooth was first bonded and shaped, I felt that it didn't match my original tooth as much. I came back after debating if I should return to get it corrected the way I wanted it and not the way it ought to be. They squeeze me in and he quickly filed it down on the side that I was concerned with. I know with bonding it's only a temporary fix, so I'll be looking to upgrade to veneers in a few months! read more

I had such a great experience here. I went in for a toothache a couple weeks ago, came back and ended up getting two wisdom teeth pulled. Dr. Porteous was so thorough and also very informative when educating me on the process. He made pulling the teeth seem like a piece of cake!! The whole team here is very nice! I have been going to Larry and Linda for about 20 years now, they are the best, always finding ways to fit your needs in to their schedule. When I started my teeth were in bad shape, I needed a lot of periodontal work that needed to be done. They got my teeth into the best condition that they have every been, and in the 20 years I've been seeing them I have only had minor dental problem. My husband and I have been going to this office for a few years. The owner and Dentist is very good at his job! I was seen in 2017 received a statement in Jan, Feb 2018, granted I had made payments on the account. I did not receive another one until Nov 2018. When Linda the owners wife called me today inquiring about my account. I told her I did not receive a statement from them for almost a year and know your calling me about my account! You have to be kidding me. She kept telling me I don't know why you haven't received one for so long, well because your billing person is not doing her job! Every business I've ever had to deal with check their Account Receivables monthly and send out statements. The billing person stated she's been doing the billing for them for over a year. I know other people have probably experienced the same problem. My family and I will not be going to this office anymore. Hire a professional billing service! The movie Marathon Man had special significance for me. At one point in my life I visited a dentist who I feared was going to cause me permanent damage. My anxiety was due to incompetence and not malevolence like the movie. Even though I have not lived near the office of Dr Larry Porteous for 17 years, I drive 40 minutes because of the excellent care that Larry, Linda, Athena and others have provided throughout the years. I can recommend this office based on more than my bi-annual teeth cleanings. Unfortunately, I have needed a few cavities filled and crowns installed because I avoided the dentist after my traumatic experience. I always feel safe and taken care of in their capable hands. The Porteous Family has almost been like my second family. I have been going to Larry and Linda since I was 5 years old and I am now in my..... ok I'll keep that part out. I have been thru cleanings, fillings, x-rays, my wisdom teeth pulled (all 4, ouch!), and recommended for braces (which I had to wear for 3-4 years). After all this, I've never wanted to go to another dentist because Linda and Larry has taken very good care of me and my family. in fact I've never had to go thru a root canal (yet) because of them. Also, no matter where I was living or working in the Bay area, if it was Berkeley, Daly city, Fremont, los altos or Oakland, I'd still make the drive to Rodeo regardless. What's even more awesome is they personally call and remind me that I'm up for another cleaning visit. If you are looking for a dentist in the area, this is the place to go. read more

Going to the dentist for me has been a challenge until now. I wore braces as a teenager and my memories of the orthodontist tightening those steel torture devices left a dentist phobia in my mind. That is until I discovered Dr. Larry Porteous. I have been going to the Rodeo office for over 10 years now. Dr. Porteous with his confident manner and courteous demeanor, my fear of dentists has disappeared. He has been there for me when I had a dental emergency. I would like to mention Linda the dental hygienist. I will always have a little apprehension going to the dentist but Linda makes me feel comfortable and puts me at ease for my cleaning. It has been a year since my first review so I think it would great to post an updated one. I have been seeing Larry and Linda since I was just a young boy. I can truly say that they aren't just my dentists, they are my family as well. My family and I have had an amazing experience here. Their son Lance is also doing a fantastic job in the family business. I look forward to him taking over the reigns some day. I myself have improved on brushing my near my lower gum lines.
