I had a very poor experience with Dr. Pucan. After seeing a trusted dentist for 15 years who confirmed my teeth were fine, I was shocked by the treatment here. First, there is no bedside manner; she referred to me only as "Sir" and felt very cold. During the exam, she poked a tooth so hard I jumped in pain. When I told her it hurt, she didn't apologize or explain why she did it. Now, that specific tooth is in constant pain and my gum is swollen. To top it off, the fluoride treatment was disgusting and made me feel sick. If you are used to a dentist who is kind and communicative, like my previous doctor, you will not find that here. read more

I recently had a root canal done by Dr.Pucan, and I honestly couldn't be happier with how everything went. I was nervous going in, but the staff immediately put me at ease with their kindness and professionalism. From the first time I called to schedule, Koreen was the most sweetest and understanding of how urgent I needed this done due to terrible pain I was going through. She found a way to schedule me at both location (Hercules and Vallejo) for immediate assistance. Dr.Pucan is very knowledgeable, she explained the entire procedure step by step and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. I felt genuinely cared for. I needed a root canal and was dreading it in fear of it being painful. Dr. Pucan Is awesome, she numbed me so well that I did not have any pain during the procedure and the pain afterwards was so minimal that I didn't need to take pain medication. This office has so many dysfunctional issues that this review page simply can't capture it all. Dr. Pucan really needs to pick a location because trying to run 2 offices on a day to day basis is quite unrealistic for her. ( Hercules & Vallejo) Dr. Pucan is constantly late with zero accountability, she can't keep staff with knowledge about her office or how to even run the front, they hardly ever return phone calls after being left messages and when they do call you back they simply hang up without leaving a message! I can go on and on about everything her Hercules office lacks but Ive given enough. It's extremely disappointing because overall she is a very nice lady but just can't seem to keep this office under proper care and good customer service. I know several people who have stopped going just because of some of the issues that I've mentioned. So I'll say this, go at your own risk and you've been warned!! read more

Dr. Lin was great and I do believe he is an amazing dentist. He did a filling for me and it was great. However, I don't like being constantly pushed to consult with their orthodontist about braces if I cannot afford them at this time. This is what turned me off. The dental hygienist, an older woman, was so rough during my cleaning and I was literally cringing the whole time. I didn't like how she lectured me and reprimanded me like I was child for not flossing properly. Also, I didn't like how pushy the front were about scheduling a routine 6 month cleaning that my insurance doesn't cover. read more

I popped off an old crown. CaliBayDental has ordered a new one. In the meantime they have put my old crown back on. It has now popped off for the 6th time in less than a week. The first three times were all on the same day- I was not eating or drinking anything. I need to line up a new dentist to put my new one on when it comes in. read more

I definitely recommend Dr. Pucan. I usually hate going to the dentist, but my experience here was the best I could hope for. Dr. Pucan was very funny, patient, nice, and direct. I was expecting a lecture on how I wasn't flossing properly and that I would need to have extra treatment - instead she complimented my efforts and showed me how to improve my techniques. She answered all my questions honestly, and she gave me tips on how to avoid spending extra money. I have no choice bc I agreed to a procedure and had to go thru with everything that came with it. Assistant is lousy. She flossed my teeth and it cut thru my gum; painful as hell. Did a procedure and was out of town, it fell apart. Called and was directed to seal it together myself or pay another dentist to do it. Never apologized to me and the horror of being toothless and helpless haunts me. read more

My husband went to Cali Bay after our daughter couldn't stop raving about this office! He has never been happy with his teeth until now. He would always smile with his mouth closed. Called around to a few places to get prices for a procedure and Angelica was the most helpful and friendly out of all the places I called. Schedule an appointment and came in within 3 days. I thought that was pretty quick considering the situation. Everyone at the office was so friendly and welcoming. They were very nice about explaining what needed to be done and were very through. Dr. Lin is very knowledgeable in his craft, and he has a great knack for hiring men and women with great, personable attitudes. I have been going to Cali Bay for about three years now, and have never had a bad experience. The Dental Assistants I've had were all great, too - my teeth always felt squeaky clean and breath "oh so fresh" after my cleanings. During a particularly annoying procedure, Dr. Lin even provided me with a Bose headset though which I could listen to my choice of relaxing tunes (Frank Sinatra, lol). This review is definitely long overdue, but better late than never! Do not come here terrible customer service scheduled an apt over the phone with receptionist only to arrive and be told my apt wasn't until July the receptionist is new and made a mistake !!!! I'm not sure what is going on with this office but I lost my tooth in December it took a over a month to see the dentist in Jan I had 4 appointments since my fitting on Jan 19 cancels and now it's March. I don't know if they will cancel again but it has been traumatic for me to have to face the world missing a tooth. It takes a month to see a new dentist and start over so I was patient about it but this is ridiculous. I understand a funeral but that's just one of the four cancelations. Maybe I am the only one this has happened to but I never experienced anything like this at such a crucial time in my entire dental history. I wish they treated me more like an emergency than a burden. It's really disappointing and stressful. read more

Beware! This place is only interested in your money and not in their patients. I used to go here many years ago, ended up leaving bc I found a place closer to home. Anyways, I recently called them to book an appointment for my mom and I. Made the appt back to back since I have to take time off of work and my mom needs someone there to help her. After scheduling our appts, I get a call the day before saying that there was something wrong with my mom's dental insurance, and that we can still come in, but the insurance night not cover everything or they can just reschedule her appt. I was confused why her insurance wasn't being accepted, it was supposed to cover everything and now they're saying we might have to pay for everything. So I just asked them to rescheduled our appts until they figured out what is going on with the insurance. I asked the receptionist to reschedule and she replied saying that I still had to keep my current appt or pay a late cancellation fee. I explained to her that I only booked an appt to go with my mom, and that I can't take the time off work twice for a dentist appt. She wasn't useful, or lenient considering that the issue could've been avoided if they figured out the insurance problem sooner, not that last minute. After, I called back and spoke with the office manager asking why they couldn't waive the fee under these circumstances and explaining that I've never missed an appt before, but they really just only cared about their $25. I was willing to switch dentists initially in order to go to the same place as my mom. Instead this place just lost two patients over their greed and lack of quality patient care. read more

I have finally found the place I can call home when it comes to my teeth. Wow. I can't say thank you enough to Dr Lin and his assistant. I believe her name is Gianna. They are both an amazing team. So gentle, so understanding and so very professional. They explain and walk you though everything. My first enjoyable dentist experience ever. I've been to 5 different dentist looking for an overall great business and I've found it with Cali Bay Dental. Once you enter the clean and bright facility after finding super easy parking including handicap spaces you'll step into a dentist oasis. By that I mean the staff behind the desk greet with warm welcomings. Then your x-rays will be performed by one of their amazing, professional techs. Super friendly and very detailed with the explanation as to what will be taking place that day. You will never be unsure what procedures are being performed or covered by your insurance, they make sure you're comfortable and filled in on what's happening. If you're bringing your child they even offer a service where children young as 2 can sit in the chair, watch cartoons and become familiar with a place that can seem scary to some kids. They also get to pick a prize from the treasure chest after each visit. Marlene performed my xrays quickly but throughly. While explaining everything to me as she went. I really appreciated that. Bridgette performed my cleaning and it was pain free plus she showed me using a mirror exactly what she was going to do. I felt so comfortable. She also encouraged me to keep going strong in school. I just finished my first appointment and honestly could not have had a better experience! I was very nervous going in because as someone in recovery from an eating disorder and substance abuse, my teeth are in really rough shape. But they were so kind and understanding and compassionate it made all the world of difference. I loved my first visit here. I was SOOO happy when they told me that my check up was good, I had been cleaning my teeth pretty well AND I had NO cavities!!! I had been told by Dr. Jang in Pinole a year or two ago that I needed a filling or two, and possibly more work with replacing old fillings. I didn't have the money at the time, so I just avoided it and didn't go back. It seemed like they were fishing for money and always told me I needed more work when I had my cleanings... glad I stuck with my gut and got a 2nd opinion. AND the guy who took my ex-rays and cleaned my teeth was super cool, Craig. He was fun to talk with and made me feel comfortable. The receptionists too. Everyone there was great. Taking my kids back soon. So much better than other places I've been. And you don't have to share the same room with other patients also getting cleanings. read more

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! I was in need of several teeth extractions and had one done at western dental which was a NIGHTMARE experience from beginning to end. They did not offer sedation so I tried to tough it out and let them pull them while I was awake they did ONE tooth and that was all I could take, they were extremely rude during the process as well but that is a story I will leave on a review for them. My insurance had me going to W.D and after that experience I decided I need to be sedated for the rest of my extractions and that's when I began calling around and found the AMAZING Cali Bay Dental. I had an emergency situation because one of the teeth I needed extracted was abscessed and they took me in immediately. Once I got to my appointment there the office itself was very welcoming, clean and most importantly not over crowded. I literally came in filled out the paper work and was seen immediately...WHAT NO WAIT??? Western Dental would have taken a whole hour before I ever even got to see a dentist chair. The staff is so friendly and you can tell they enjoy their work and working environment because they are not running around like chickens with their heads cut off or over stressed by being overbooked with patients. They checked me out gave me antibiotics and schedule me for my extractions. I had my extractions a week ago I was very nervous about being sedated but everything went smoothly and with staff as friendly as them it is very hard not to feel at ease. When I had the one extraction at western dental my face swelled up like a balloon on that side. I had more teeth pulled at cali bay and had no swelling what so ever and my recovery went smoothly with very little pain. I do believe being sedated, relaxed and the staff really just being good at their job makes for a painless experience. I would go back here any time! I honestly wouldn't be scared of going to the dentist if my first experience had been at this place. This is the best care you are going to get from a dentist, period. My 11 year old son had a dental emergency. (More like mommy was freaking out) I called his primary dentist and they couldn't see him. I called around and couldn't get him in. I finally called cali dental and was able to get him in. It was a little drive from concord but was so worth it. From the initial phone call to the actual appointment everyone was so polite, professional and helped relieve my stress. Marlene was informative and explained everything she was doing to my son so he would know what was going on. He was scared of getting a shot. Not only is Dr. Lee the best dentist I have ever had, but the entirety of his staff does an incredible job. I went in for a teeth cleaning in June, and the Dental Hygienist took her time and was very thorough. For ten years, I have had a bonded retainer that spans the inside of my bottom six teeth; and 1-2 times per year I get my teeth cleaned, but never have I ever had someone give so much needed attention to that area. I can now actually see my teeth--I can now run floss through them. I was so impressed. And she was so gentle too, which was even more impressive. In my next visit, with Dr. Lee, I had two cavities filled--and that went very well. He too is so gentle; not to mention he always remembers me and is attentive to my needs. I have been to a lot of dentists, and Cali Bay Dental is by far the best. I do a lot of traveling, and have not been living in CA for a few months--but during a short trip this summer, I was able to have two appointments, so I am grateful. Furthermore the appointments that I made were last minute, especially the second, but the staff was accommodating to my schedule. And when I got there, they were all smiles. My insurance did not cover the cost of my fillings, but had another place been able to--I still would have chosen Cali Bay Dental, regardless. I cannot thank you all enough! read more

I was visiting California on business and had a dental emergency. I ended up looking around for a couple practices, but found the positive reviews about this one. It was a bit out of my way from where I was staying, but it was worth it! The service is outstanding and the procedure was done in no time at all (I was given preference on account of the pain). I WISH I had this practice near me where I live because it's better than my regular dentist. My first time here with my baby girl Cataleya whom is 4 years old for her first check up. I know I'm super behind on her first check up so I was expecting the worse even though I did everything I could to prevent built up tartar in her teeth. The receptionist greeted all of us, my daughter, my new born baby, my kids father and myself. I was originally scheduled for couple months but they called me the day before for a cancellation so I made it today 4-3-18. The only bummer at this appointment was that I found out that my medical was not eligible. Luckily they had a kid promotion of $63 of X-rays, cleaning and the check up. I paid it and my daughter did great. We met the dental high genus and did not get her name but she did great with my daughter. She was patient and explained everything she was doing to her. We did not get all the X-rays done since my daughter kept pushing the X-ray film out her mouth. She did not want to push it to force her to do it which I loved! She was great!!! Kept thanking us as parents that we are doing a wonderful job which was very rewarding!! Then dr.Lin checked her teeth and was wonderful as well. Only thing was I had so many lovely ladies in the front and assistants that I met but didn't know their names. Wish they had name tags so I can show them they are appreciated as well. I loved the team they had, and one thing I notice is customer service because I deal with customer service at my job as a veterinarian assistant in a Hospital.
