If you've been to any Portillo's before, you already know they have great good. The service is fast and the orders are prepared accurately. I like this Portillo's in particular because they have nice outdoor seating. The direction the seating is facing (I think it's west) always seems to give you a nice, gentle breeze. I think it's only about 5 or 6 tables, but it's very pleasant. I got a beef, fries and a soft drink and everything went as planned. I didn't take a pic, because it would look like any other one that a yelp reviewer posted. I wish I had taken a picture of the seating area though. I go there to meet friends once every three months. It's about an hour from my home, but it's equidistant from the other 3 people that I meet with. The people at the register are friendly and quick. I always use my perks card, so this time I got free fries. I always love going to Portillo's. read more

Portillo's has always been one of my favorite places to go. I usually visit this location when I am back home. It's clean, friendly staff, quick and delicious. Their hot dogs have always tasted the same and the cheese fries are by far my favorite. We decided to try the chocolate cake as so many people love it and it didn't disappoint. I was asked a question by yelp.. "would you recommend this establishment?" The answer to that is , no not particularly. Main reason is that every time you go there, there will be something wrong with the order. Ever since it changed managements it has gone downhill. Pretty good food. The Italian Beef is where most of the hype surrounding Portillo's rests, and while good, I'd actually recommend their burgers. Personal preference I suppose. An experience that I will remember for years to come. Unfair, unjust, and flat out wrong. I was battered and bruised through the process of an extra onion ring added to my order, one i. which I did not want to pay for, and workers that were swearing in front of my 3 year old daughter. We got the onion ring voided from the order, but the manger "Scot" was rather rude about the exchange. 0/10 do NOT recommend. If there were zero stars, it would be well deserved. We had many issues after the Portillos retired and sold, stopped going and decided to give it a try again. Yet a simple salad, which took 20 mins plus to make, resembles nothing we ordered, well, it did have lettuce. How can you get orders so incredibly wrong. My fault for not opening the bag, opening the salad container and taking inventory of each and every item. Luckily we have a better place just down the street, Tom & Jerrys, that has better service, better food and gets you in and out quickly. 1 star seem to generous. We have been to this establishment on many occasions and the service is usually pretty good but tonight they were not at their best. There are signs all over saying you must wear a mask yet they never asked any of the people coming in and up to the counter to put one on. I will also say the tables are not very distanced. The service seemed rather slow tonight and the only items we ordered that was served hot and fresh to us was the fish sandwich and the salad was freshly made at another counter but everything else sat in the bag waiting for the fish to cook. The beef and sausage combo sandwich was ordered wet yet no silverware was served with it. When my daughter went to ask for a fork and knife instead of the young lady getting it for her she sent her to another counter to stand in yet another line. I think it is odd they charge extra if you want giardiniera on your sandwich (they charge you .60 for it) even though it is on the picture on the menu with the giardiniera on it. The prices here are not cheap so you expect a little better product and service but tonight they missed the mark. The parking is plentiful and handicap accessibility is better than a lot of public places. The food was amazing!!!! The people and staff were very helpful and had great hospitality!!! Even the cleaning staff was extremely polite to us and other people! The decorations with in this establishment were very calming! The ambiance of this place gave me a homey feeling reminding me of when I used to come get every Sunday with my family! Anyways, I come here often enough, AND every time I come it is not good at all. It is always something. Messing up the food, getting a melted shake, bad service, etc. Along with these issues, the wait time has been horrendous. Don't come here unless you have 45 minutes to wait in a drive through. Like I said, this has happened 4+ times in the past 35 days, that's every time I've tried coming here. Even if the food was fresh and right it's not worth that much of a wait. One time we were sitting at the window for 20 minutes on top of the wait behind numerous cars until I was given the food. You can't even leave at that point since they already took your money. Food wasn't cold, but not fresh and shake was melted all the way, as it was sitting there on their cart by the window. On our latest trip to this location, we had a large take out order and they forgot an item, however we called the restaurant when we figured there was a missing item and they offered to refund the charge immediately. First let me say I accept the responsibility for thinking we could go to Portillos at 7:00 pm on a Saturday night and not be faced with a large crowd. My error. Second the 2 star rating is only because the young man in charge did a nice job of managing the chaos. Otherwise it would be 1 star. There was a long line of 15 to 20 people ordering throughout our entire visit and only 1 checker. There are 3 cash registers but only 1 checker. This created a long wait just to order. Portillos appears to value their drive through business more than their walk in business. The wait for our food to be ready was long. I mean very long. There were 6 of us. Two of the orders were incorrect and my tamale was literally frozen. I exchanged the prospect of a properly cooked tamale for a piece of chocolate cake. Just moments earlier someone else did the same. I would suggest a new tamale cooker and some tamale cooking training. I felt bad for the staff. Watching them behind the counter reminded me of a silent keystone cops movie. They shouted unanswered requests at each other, bumped into each other and dodged bags of food being tossed on the counter. Will we go back? Sure because Portillos is just another example of a poorly staffed fast food restaurant blaming their inability to get it right on the problems in the world. We are conditioned at this pint to expect poor quality and service no matter the price point or atmosphere of the restaurant. Ultimately we had a nice evening visiting with our friends and my chili was actually pretty good. So, there's that. read more

Low quality ingredients, smaller portions, less friendly, poorly executed.
