Recently had a great meal with my daughter and her friends. After fresh, warm rolls and whipped butter...We had some appetizers that were VERY good. The fried pickles were ridiculously yummy with ranch. I had a great chef salad (my daughter had the caesar salad, which looked equally good). I ordered the chicken fried sirloin with mashed potatoes and country gravy. Honestly, it may have been the best I have ever had, no kidding! Beside the fact it was far too large a portion, it was as tender as butter and cooked to perfection. I had the opportunity to try the sweet potato that was prepared perfectly and a real treat. We hadn't been to this location in several months and went for a birthday celebration. I don't understand why this particular location has such a difficult time cooking a medium rare steak. I am leaving this review after filing a complaint and receiving a response stating that Texas Roadhouse will not be issuing any refund. During my visit, I was served a burnt burger and a raw steak, which is unacceptable food quality for any restaurant. The burger was clearly burnt, and the steak was undercooked to the point that it was raw. When I brought the issue to the staff's attention, I was told that the burger would be removed from my bill because it was burnt. However, after checking my receipt later, I discovered that I was still charged for the burger even though I was told it had been taken off the bill. When I raised this issue, the restaurant did contact me, but instead of addressing the fact that I was still charged for the burger, the response I received was dismissive. I was told that I "should have spoken to a manager instead of going to the BBB." That response avoided the real issue, which is that I was told an item would be removed from the bill but was still charged for it anyway. Because of the burnt burger, the raw steak, and the fact that I was still charged for something I was told would be removed, I requested a refund for the mistake. Texas Roadhouse has now stated they will not be refunding anything, even though the food was improperly prepared and the billing was not handled honestly. The way this situation was handled raises serious concerns about customer service and accountability. I also cannot ignore the possibility that the way my complaint was dismissed may have been influenced by racial bias, as my concerns were not taken seriously and the issue with the charge was never corrected. I've been there multiple times and had good experiences, but this last experience I had terrible service. The hostess did not do anything. The waitress forgot stuff and then had an attitude. The manager after speaking to her about the experience was rude as well. I was also injured there and the manager offered a free appetizer and did not take any information down or make any kind of report which is completely unprofessional. then called corporate and was completely blown off. 2 times in a row we have come here on a Saturday evening around 5pm for the sole purpose that my wife wants a prime rib, & twice in a row she ordered it & 5 mins later a manager comes to the table to say they are out of prime rib. The service was the best ever our server was super nice extremely friendly. She had a great smile and came to our table to check on us regularly. Great experience at roadhouse in sycamore. Hostess team were friendly and welcoming. Our server Josh, had good personality, made sure drinks and the rolls were refilled. The rolls were outstanding hot and perfectly baked. Kudos to the kitchen. I had a filet and my husband had a ribeye. Both were cooked perfectly at medium with a hot pink center. Manager stopped to check if everything was going well. Our response was everything was exceptional. I usually love Texas Roadhouse. It was my escape after a hard week at work. This place disappointed me to the point I probably won't return. I had ordered a ribeye medium rare. It was medium well and about the thickness of the sole of my shoe (thin) but not near as flavorful. It made me sad because that was my "go to" place. And the margaritas use to be good. If you order a margarita and want actual alcohol in it, that's extra. What's up with that? read more

My family likes Texas Roadhouse but the DeKalb IL location is poorly staffed and terribly managed. We have been every other month for the last few years and find servers at this location are uninterested and not helpful - each visit we've had complete mistakes, failure to fulfill requests like more water, please bring the drink we ordered, this steak is way overcooked... and they act aloof and put out. Unfortunately, management just doesn't care and is unapologetic - just make the customer realize that no one is perfect (who trains these employees and mgmt?). DeKalb IL- The food tasted amazing. My compliments to the cooks. Ordered steak and salmon tonight, the steak was ordered medium and it was cooked perfectly and the salmon was cooked perfectly too. However, the food did get brought to the table wrong at first and had to sent back. The waiter we had was very helpful very friendly and made getting the food replaced simple and fuss free. The for under the table wasn't the cleanest either, definitely needed sweetie before we should have been seated at it. But over all it was a great visit and I will definitely recommend and be back. Behind all this, if you can believe it, is a music soundtrack. So--minus the fights and bawdiness-- it lives up to a roadhouse atmosphere. As a steak place it's passable and provides good service. Even after the families cleared out of my section and I could actually hear the music I was surprised by the noise level. Well this review might be a bit different than my previous reviews. First off I would like to point out something I've noticed over the past few years. Back in the day I would occasionally have an interaction with someone who was socially awkward, and just a little bit strange. Now it seems like so many young people I have social interactions with are very awkward. They won't look you in the eyes when they are talking with you. My reason for pointing this out is because my server Reanna was awesome! She looks you in the eye. She keeps her head up, and speaks with confidence. Her service was excellent. The restaurant was clean and well thought out for the type of restaurant it is. I had the ribs they were very good for a chain restaurant. Now I say this just because they can't compete with some of the smaller bbq restaurants I go to the that have a very small menu, and specifically cook bbq. I had a Caesar salad it was very good. A baked sweet potato, and it was also very tasty. The entire meal was delicious. The manager even came by my table to check on me, and make sure everything was as it should be. last night I went to the restaurant in sycamore Il with 5 other adults and had the worst dinner I ever had at your restaurant. Three out of the six had to send it back. Two that had wanted it med rare got it too rare and one wanted it med well had it medium. I want to give this place 5 stars or 4, as the service used to be amazing but since after COVID it has gone down hill. Have eaten here numerous times and all through COVID had take out for myself and my mom. As she loved this place. The negative. Last two times getting take out there has been difficulties using the app online to order and the food. The app (using an iPhone XS max with most recent IOS software has some kind of bug, only lets you order 1 meal. When ordering for another person on same order does not allow you to add, even if you have checked the appropriate selections. So we have had to call and try to get through the annoying VOICE MAIL prompts. Dial 3, instead of the rest of the numbers. Finally when someone does answer and you ask to take down an order they suggest sending you a link to order so you have to explain the online issues. Now if you dont have a cell phone and only a land line that becomes an issue as well. My 78 year old mom who orders take out doesnt have a cell phone, so she is no longer able to order and pay unless someone picks up the phone and takes her order, which she is not able to do as it is to confusing for her. The last two times we have placed an order for take out, they have forgotten things when I have gotten back home. This most recent time, there was no coca cola my mom requested. There was no tomato and mayo on her burgers. I ordered a house salad with vinegar and oil. They had oil in there in a plastic cup but no vinegar. Ever have salad with just oil? Bland. The worse part is I ordered a large TBONE steak and asked for medium rare, with just a red center. It was under cooked and RARE all the way around. Way to rare! Spent all that money and it was not good. Plus didnt taste any seasoning. Poorly cooked with no seasoning. I did call and they asked if I wanted to drive back to get the rest and fix my order. While I appreciate that. The whole reason for take out was to take home the order and eat. Not drive back and forth as the food becomes cold. We do not plan to order from here again. Solutions: fix the website and app, better phone & customer service and make damn sure that every take out is filled as ordered and nothing is missing from the order or stop offering take out.
