Brand New Running Shoes from Portland Running Company in Beaverton!!!
    Ryan J.

I came in today to replace a pair of shoes I purchased a couple days ago. The first time, the customer service was amazing. The insoles just didn't feel right when I got home, which is why I was returning them. But I was greeted by Ben today who was fabulous. Even though it was my second time back, he was patient and kind and took the time to find me a different shoe better than the first for me!! I had originally gone back in to replace the shoe I got, not be able to find a better one! He allowed me to try on several more shoes, until I found one I liked better than the first! I also joked with him, because he was the only customer service person I have ever bought shoes from, who unlaced the laces when they took them out of the box to give me to try on. I would recommend this business to anyone. I'm just someone looking to do a little more running at the gym, nothing serious. But I still feel like I was given world class service. Best of luck!

I really was looking forward to shopping here. I read all the reviews and wanted a similar experience. I can buy any shoe offered here on Amazon or Zappos for the same or less, but I want a knowledge sales person who could educate me on some shoes and find out what fits me best. I'm not new to running but I'm new to buying more expensive shoes like this and wanted some help and advice. The other reviews seemed like you would be helped from start to finish, observed, offered suggestion and such. Honestly my experience was no better than shopping at Famous Footwear. I was only asked a few questions, I had to volunteer most info, I felt like I was being a bother, I was presented with 3 shoes and was given a brief description, I asked questions about other shoes but was never presented with them. I was told I could walk outside on the sidewalk. Was never told I could run or any advice or anything. Was also told there weren't any other color choices. I really needed shoes so I bought em. While I was leaving 2 other people were being helped by sales people and they seemed to be getting the experience and service the reviews said. Maybe I didn't use the right language or wear the right clothes to be taken seriously. Got home went to try them on and looked at bottom and they were dirty, even had a dead leaf in them and the body of the shoe looked worn on one part. I called store was told they allow people to run in them, which I wasn't given that option, And sometimes people run further then the sidewalk and they get worn and I could bring them back, he said he would put a pair aside for me to exchange...then asked what color I wanted them in, they had several options. So I had to drive back down to store on Friday afternoon and I ended up just bringing then back. not only couldn't the sales person be bothered to give good service they couldn't even be bothered to give me a color option. Not sure what I did wrong or didn't do right to be treated like other customers. As I get more into this sport I wanted a place I could go locally for advice on gear and such. I guess the Portland Running Company won't be it.

Brooks fits my feet really well, I tried other brands, Nike, New Balance, Vionic but none of them felt right.

They had so many windows around the ceiling, the store was full of sunlight, felt so nice. Like many other Dick's store, they had all the popular sections like baseball, softball, football, tennis, fishing, biking, golf, racket sports, sneakers and huge displays of apparels from different brands. I explored the store for about half an hour. They have lots of World Cup 2026 merchandises. I was looking for sporting shorts and found some I liked in Adidas section. The prices were slightly higher compared to Adidas' website. Some of the staff members I talked to were friendly.

Yikes. Came here to buy some Oregon Ducks gear and a Blazer hoodie I saw someone wearing at the game. Two specific items, and 10 minutes wondering aimlessly to find the items or an employee to help me. They do have a huge assortment of clothing, and in every color of the rainbow, not just basic black. I appreciate that. But I'm not a fan of bigger is better, and prefer shopping at smaller Dick's locations like the one in Lake Oswego. so much easier to find what you need, and get in and out of the store quickly.

One of the older employees wrote numbers on sticky notes and placed them on my cards. He offered me $600 for a stack worth around $1,000, so I politely declined. Immediately after, he aggressively ripped the sticky notes off my cards, walked away, and completely ignored me. He didn't say another word or even look at me. On my way out, I still said "thanks," but got no response. It's sad to see people like this representing the hobby. If you're looking to trade cards or buy boxes, I'd recommend going somewhere else. Hoody's, 1 Stop, and Orb all have much better customer service than this place. This business does not deserve your cards or your money.

He went into the shop hoping to sell some of his sports cards, and the employee wrote down offer amounts on a sticky note. My boyfriend politely declined and said, "That's too low for me, but thank you anyway." Instead of responding professionally, the employee ripped up the offer sheet right in front of him without saying a word and walked away. No courtesy, no customer service, and no basic human decency. We've now been here twice, and after this experience, we will not be returning. I'd recommend thinking twice before supporting this establishment.

Genuinely strange vibe here. Yesterday I was in looking for a sleeping bag and a few other items…read more One of the employees, who I imagine was a shift lead, had a child running around the store. Clearly just not a great environment for him and who knows how long he had been there that day, he was very loud and chaotic and just being a kid. I kept hearing the staff member who was the kids caretaker harshly reprimanding him, borderline yelling. I get it's stressful to have to bring a child to work with you but it's not his fault. There were like no customers in the store and it was pretty quiet in there so hearing him being a crazy kid & then this woman loudly reprimanding him was very hard to ignore. I looked at bags for a really long time, and no one offered to help. Many of the hanging bags were missing identifying tags, so I was going back and forth trying to match the samples to the shelved bags for sale. Eventually I pick one, buy it and leave. I go home, open it up and it's just not what I had expected. It was huge, and very heavy. Today I brought it back for a return and had no problem. I went back to the sleeping bags to reassess what was available and that same woman who was yelling at the kid the day before, (who was not the employee to process my return) likely didn't realize I was the person who brought in the return and with a very nasty and annoyed tone she said something about how the sleeping bag policy she be like the air mattress policy - which is that they won't let you return it if you opened it. Her energy was terrible two days in a row, just totally drab and on edge. I maybe would have stuck around and kept looking at other sleeping bag options, probably would have bought a new one if someone stopped leaning on a counter talking shit about other employees to ask if I needed assistance, but instead I left. I didn't want to hear her drone on about how annoying everything is, customers/policies/coworkers alike (major projection) The pink haired woman needs training on customer service Big 5 has an opportunity to get some new regulars with the closing of next adventure - which had inherited many regulars from the outdoor store when that closed a few years back. It would be wise to have employees who are passionate about outdoor gear and the experiences customers have with the gear and in their stores, because that's what keeps people shopping. Reliable return policies are how you get customers to try things out and find what works for them. You retain those customers by showing some effort, curiosity and really helping them. That's how you sell products. Guess I'll be going to REI.

Well store opened at 9am my husband and I were literally second customers of the day!! First customer was greeted by Jacob "store manager". We walked in and no greeting seemed like he forgot how to speak or was shocked by our high vibration. First thing I noticed is HOW DIRTY THIS PLACE IS!!!!!! Stuff unorganized and on the floor boxes are opened. Trash everywhere I mean everywhere like they had no vacuum cleaner so they said F it. I got some items asked if I can try them on the girl that was working with the manager was also rude didn't ask if we need help I had to go up to both of them while they were chatting away. I asked to try on the items I found. As she opens the door to the fitting room I was literally like WTF!! Fitting room looked like musicians crashed a hotel see posted photos. Mirror was grimey as heck something broken on the ground a piece of wood idk. Litter on the floor. That whole store was just ewwwwww... as a former manager of retail stores I would never have a store like that or let my employees walk around not doing anything they had so much things they could've been doing. There store needs to get checked up on by DM or a RM. They also should be trained on customer service, attentiveness, knowing products. Will not be coming back to THIS location again!!!!
