There is always consistency with anything more routinely ordered and even the busiest servers work their tails off to continually ensure expectations are exceeded. I went to portofino restaurant yesterday July 21 at around 5:30 to order the angel hair mederitian seafood pasta for take out. I had checked the price online from the restaurant's menu. The price was clearly listed at 24.99. Yet, when I ordered it the cashier told me the price would be 34.99. I showed the person taking my order the price listed on the online menu at 24.99. She stated that the restaurant had not updated the increase online. I declined the order and walked out. I don't think this was fair to me as a customer. The restaurant should have honored the price on their online menu. They are responsible for insuring that the online price matches the actual restaurant price. I felt like mislead. I declined the increase and walked out. I will not be returning to portifino restaurant anymore. Watch out! You might be getting overcharged by the deceiving online menu. read more

Food: I came here with my boyfriend for dinner without a reservation and we were lucky they were able to take us in on a busy Saturday night. The bread was fresh and I was thoroughly impressed with their pear salad. The veal and Parmesan pasta was exquisite. They give big portions too which I absolutely love huge portions and having some leftovers. I would recommend trying what I ordered or anything from this restaurant. Service: the waiter was polite and went out of his way to split the salad into two plates because my boyfriend and I wanted to share it. Ambiance: The ambiance felt great. Crowded, overpriced, and just average food. The calamari was rubbery and the bread stale. Parking is limited. They had two parties while I was there which made the place extremely noisy - put up barriers or close the place for the night. read more

My wife and I went to Portofino's many years ago and the dinner wasn't what we expected. The meals were poorly cooked and unimpressive but the place is always packed so maybe it was an aberration. I tried the take out and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered a chicken parm sandwich, which was perfectly cooked and a side of fries that were good. The service was very good - I was greeted pleasantly at the door and LOVED the complementary bread. Only negative would be no napkin in the bag. Classic Italian with good portions of food. It was strange there was no choice of pasta with entrées they just gave you linguini without asking you what you wanted. Service was good; they forgot my cappuccino. Nice decor. We shared a beet salad for appetizer that had arugula, beets and pecans. The restaurant was hosting a party that evening, and while I understand they were busy, I felt regular guests deserved more consistent attention as well. The staff was attentive in serving bread, appetizers, and meals, which arrived promptly, and the food itself was quite good--the appetizer especially, was delicious. However, smaller details were overlooked, such as refilling water glasses. More disappointing was that the cappuccinos were mostly foam with very little drink, and the carrot cake tasted stale. After reading the reviews I was a bit apprehensive about trying Portofino's. Our experience was excellent. Had a 5:30 pm reservation on a Saturday night. We were promptly seated by Rich who was very pleasant. Our waitress (RoseAnn) was very efficient and friendly. We had chicken Marsala and chicken Milanese. Both were very good. Took home a tiramisu for dessert. The ambiance at the restaurant was very nice. There was outside sitting but at 5:30 pm in late June it was too hot to be outside. We had the opportunity to try Portofinos Saturday night. We were once "Friday nite patrons". Not knowing what to expect since ( it's) changed owners we'd figure we'd give it a try. The wait staff was quick to take our app order and then our dinner order. The apps came out fairly soon, but our dinner took about an hour. The staff was attentive with water, bread and pouring wine but honestly dinner took too long However, when it did come it was HOT, and truly delicious. In all fairness t there was not an empty table and there was a large table of at least 15 people. Perhaps they were understaffed, or the kitchen staff was short. My SO and I visited Portofino's for a date night during the week and we absolutely loved it. I had made reservations earlier in the day, just in case, but there was plenty of seating before it got busy for a Thursday night. The restaurant was a great size, offering a more intimate setting while also leaving you spaced out enough that you're not on top of other tables. The service was fantastic, everyone we interacted with made sure we had everything we needed without frequent visits. The restaurant is also BYOB, so make sure to bring a bottle if you'd like to imbibe. We were able to park in their small lot that's available, but most of the spots were taken already at 7. Our burrata appetizer was incredibly fresh and beautifully plated, while our entrees were also flavorful and delicious. A huge thanks to the staff at Portofino's. Was in Morristown for the Verizon Corporate Classic and was one of the parents overlooking a bunch teenagers who volunteered. At the conclusion of the race, our group pretty much took over their outdoor seating area to treat the kids with some pizza. Having been to events were large amounts of pizza are are served, I know it could be hit or miss when it comes to tasty pizza with freshness being not east to manage. I must say, they knocked it out of the park with fresh pizza that was warm and tasty. After a busy night, I can only imagine the last thing the staff wanted was a large group invading their dinning room when they were so close to going home. Despite our group size and pizza only order, thr staff was awesome. The outdoor dinning area was perfect atmosphere for our group. I came here for a surprise 30th birthday party. I must say I was very impressed with the service and the food. This isn't a big place but it was perfect for our group. You can use one or two rooms. The atmosphere is cozy. It's a BYOB. There's some outdoor seating too. We started with Hot Appetizers and they were constantly being passed. We were served Mini Crab Cakes,Stuffed Clams Oreganata , Chicken Skewers,Rice Balls,StuffedMushrooms, Baby Grilled cheese Sandwiches, Mini Ruben appetizers are just a few to mention. Then we went on to Caesar Salad, Ginger Calamari, and Prosciutto Mozzarella and Roasted Peppers. Then we went on to the Pasta course. I had Penne Al La Vodka, and Pasta in a homemade Pomodoro Sauce. Both of these dishes were excellent. After that we were given three different dishes to share family style. The first dish that was served was Bruschetta Salmon, then Veal Milanese, and Chicken Francese. All three dishes were delicious. I was so full I didn't think I could eat another bite until dessert came out. I had a piece of the delicious Birthday Cake, and some Italian pastries. I visited Portofino's in September of 2022 and can't wait to go back! Portofino's is VERY family friendly and BYOB. App - Rice Balls: Phenomenal. They were small so there was enough to go around the table. Entrée - Angel Hair Mediterranean: Delicious. Unfortunately I didn't get a lot of scallops, I believe only two, however, my friend got the same dish and was given 4 scallops. I definitely had enough shrimp! Dessert - Cannoli & Cheesecake: Pretty good, but nothing special honestly so I can't say if it was homemade or not. Environment - Family friendly and cozy! Staff - Wonderful. Friendly, kind, and attentive. What wasn't great though? The parking. Portofino's parking lot probably fits about 5-7 cars, if that. So if you're not one lucky duck, be ready to have to look for parking on the residential street around the corner. read more

We went there last night at 4:30. I asked to be seated outside when I made the reservation. They refused saying it would get too cold. It was 80 degrees that day! They sat the 7 of us at a too small round table, struggling to fit the shared appetizers. Again when we complained they refused to seat us at a larger table. It's the service that made me decide to give 5 stars. We live walking distance from this place and have always wanted to walk over and sit outside. We walked in on a Friday night and it was packed (good sign). The owner was there helping to guide reservations. He gave us a couple of options on where we could sit, but ultimately let us wait for a table outside - we were in no rush. Everyone was down to earth and very friendly and accommodating. Sitting outside is comfortable, even on a chilly night - they have heat lamps that work well. Bread was warm and satisfying. I had the penne vodka which was very good. Now hear me out- the food isn't the greatest quality of my life...BUT the overall experience makes you want to come back. PROS: I came here for an event. This place had a nice Italian vibe to Italian vibe to it. The staff and owner were really friendly and the food was good too. Everything was clean and the event was hosted at an affordable price. They have several rooms to hold 2 parties (or open the door to join the rooms to have one big party) or one party and have a normal restaurant opening on the side. CONS: The parking lot is very small which could only accommodate 7 cars while there are 12+ tables inside. It was a little cramped inside as well so if the place was crowded it would be hard to move through the tables. The room we had the event in we were packed in, so I wouldn't suggest hosting an event for more than 20 people in it in one room. OVERALL: I wouldn't mind coming here for an early dinner to beat the other cars and not face a crowded room, but in my opinion I would want a place a little bigger inside and on the lot. However I did like the ownership and staff so if you did come here you'll be treated with the upmost respect. read more

Super easy spot to grab some great Italian! Was able to call ahead and go curbside pickup. Had a good amount of tables outdoors that were under a tent and also had fans going. We got the Spaghetti Carbonara and added some chicken. Chicken pieces were perfect size and also moist! The sauce will really yummy and the bits of bacon were perfection. It was a pretty big size and I think we could have split between like four meals so super excited about leftovers! Also came with some soft bread and we were very happy. Overall, Portofino is great value for the dollar. Excellent food with large portions. Delicious recipes. Frequented mostly by locals. Service is good. You're never waiting too long. Waiters are attentive and smart. Most of the areas for improvement are related to atmosphere. Portofino has so much potential to be a cozy, tucked away gem in Morristown. The outside and exterior are inviting and charming. The inside, however, is a bit stark and sterile. The lighting is too bright. And they may even be using LED spot lights on the ceiling, which totally ruin the atmosphere. They need to dim the lights, use incandescent bulbs, and maybe drop some of those faux tea candlelights on the tables. And maybe warm up the walls a bit more with welcoming art work. And more enhancements along those Ines, especially in the lobby and main dining rooms. Rhe owner should hire an interior design consultant. It would go a long way. So much potential. If they do these things related to atmosphere, Portofino is at least 4 stars, maybe 5. We'll be back, but with sunglasses. read more

So sad to say this wasn't the best experience. I feel badly because the owner was so nice but it went from bad to worse quickly. It took 40 minutes to seat our party of 6- who had a reservation. But, it was nice they offered to open our wine for us while we waited (this place is BYOB). We ordered an appetizer sampler that included artichoke francese and Buffalo calamari but the cala a Mari was pretty cold. The people who ordered pasta dishes at our table reported that they were good and enjoyed them. However, my friend and I both ordered the chicken Marsala and the sauce had no taste and was very watery. I've been wanting to try this cute little place off the strip for awhile so I was disappointed. So many other better options in town. read more
