One of the best Italian places in nj. Very hard to get a seat at this place. Better to come on a weekday. A small menu but they excel at what they do.
Once again, the Pasta Shop delivers an amazing experience. Went on a Thursday night and of course on the early side, but this time sat right down without a wait. That's a first. Went for the staple Chicken Parmigiana because when you're craving it you got to have it. Also had the pasta with sausage and broccolini. Hearty dish. Of course we had the kale Caesar to start. Service was fantastic, as always. Restaurant was humming as they turn tables consistently. Always a good time when in that part of Jersey. I can't not go!!

Ordered online for dinner and was ready in about 35-40 minutes for pickup. The mozzarella sticks weee amazing, unlike any I've had before. Pasta that's homemade and chicken parm this good is why this place is always busy. I just wished they were open on Sundays.
This place is a must go to! Last night, my friends and I went there for the first time. I live in New York and this place is in Denville, New Jersey and we heard the food is amazing. We were lucky enough to be in town so we stopped in earlier in the day to get our name on the list as I don't believe they take reservations. Anyway, they had a table ready for us at 5:45 PM for dinner and the staff was so nice and accommodating. I spoke with a number of the waiters (Roy and Vic) in terms of recommendations and followed many of their recommendations - we were not disappointed. For appetizers, we had the absolutely light and fluffy meatballs with the garlic bread and pesto sauce along with the homemade mozzarella sticks. We all loved each of these dishes. Our favorite amongst the appetizers was the meatballs - I can make a meal of those! For dinner, we ordered the pappardelle bolognese, rigatoni with vodka sauce, linguine and clams and a tortelloni dish. I understand the pappardelle and rigatoni are staple dishes and we all understood why as they were absolutely delicious - although my favorite was the linguine and clams - a big-time Yum Yum Yum! I met Roy earlier in the day when we put our name on the list for dinner. He was kind enough to stop by our table a number of times to check in and see how we're doing. Vic was our server for the evening and he did a fabulous job describing the various dishes and providing excellent service. We are definitely adding maybe this restaurant to our list of favorites and need to go back soon. Run, don't walk, and try this place out. You will not regret it. Thanks Pasta Shop for a delicious and memorable dinner.

The Pasta Shop is one well oiled machined with delicious food and friendly service. We were able to get the first lunch seating on a Saturday. Before the doors officially open, someone comes outside and starts writing names down on the waitlist and then right at 12pm they call out the party names to be seated. The waitress comes over with a display box to show what kinds of pastas they have for the day and tell you the specials. We ordered two apps and each got a pasta entree. Before any food arrived they also came around with a sampling of cheese to taste. The arancini (rice balls) were a special, it came with 6 small balls and they were very good. Super crispy exterior with a cheesy inside. We also got the kale Caesar which was lovely and refreshing. I got the spaghetti carbonara and my friend got the orecchiette with broccolini and sausage. No complaints on either dish. Our waitress also asked if we wanted bread for dipping and how could we say no! If you don't finish your meal they wrap it for you and you collect your leftovers at the door when you leave so the boxes won't crowd your table if you saved room for dessert (they give you a little tag to claim the proper leftover bag). Unfortunately I did not save any room for dessert but there's always next time! Truly a great dining experience, would highly recommend to anyone.

Date night well spent! My husband and I decided to try The Pasta Shop in Denville for date night, and it was absolutely worth the wait. After putting our name in and exploring the area while we waited for our table, we were more than ready--and The Pasta Shop did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful. We started with the mozzarella sticks and meatballs; the meatballs were incredibly tender and packed with flavor, and the mozzarella sticks had the perfect cheese pull. For our entrées, we chose the penne vodka and the pappardelle bolognese--both were freshly made and absolutely delicious. The toasted bread brought to the table was a great touch as well. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating throughout our visit, which made the experience even better. We truly enjoyed our meal and will definitely be returning.
I didn't want into the shop to pick up this order but boy was it delicious! I will say their order ahead feature wins them points in my book. The garlic bread was out of this world and complimented the bolognese so well. The pappardelle was made fresh and the bolognese was perfectly seasoned to complement the pasta. I will be returning soon!

Been here multiple times but never wrote a review until now. My go tos for appetizers are the mozzarella sticks and the house garlic bread. This day, I got the tortellini special and it was delicious - dipped some of my bread in the... sauce? I also tried a bit of my friend's truffle cream ziti - loved the creamy flavors with some sausage! The rigatoni alla vodka with peas+proscuitto is typically my go to, but sometimes I feel adventurous :) The service is always great (very friendly) and atmosphere is feels busy, but comfortable and welcoming. No reservations -so try to come a bit earlier!

Pasta Shop has been a great addition to the neighborhood. Though we're rarely able to eat there because it's always so busy, it is a staple take home meal for us. If you do want to eat there, be sure to arrive early and get your name on the list. There's an outdoor beer garden across the street to chill at, if the weather is nice. read more

Although I've been to several 'Italian' restaurants in the past few months, this has been the first that offered what I consider to be authentic Italian food. This is a very popular restaurant, and we were prepared to wait. So, after requesting a table we walked to the nearby Brewery to sample beers and non-beers as we awaited the text that said our table was ready. At the restaurant, part of a party of 6, I sampled a lot food. The pasta was cooked to perfection: neither over or under cooked. Everything was freshly prepared and outstanding. I especially enjoyed the flavors of the Mascarpone ravioli. One in my party ordered garlic bread to share and I thought "on no, another garlic bread saturated with oil and butter." But it was not. The bread was light and perfectly prepared, as were the mozzarella sticks, cannoli's and everything else. The staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. This relatively small restaurant reminded me of those in Italy. It was well worth the wait to get a table and I look forward to returning. read more

It was really good. The garlic bread and mozzarella sticks were fantastic. The pappardelle bolognese was amazing. The chicken parm was solid, crunchy edges and the browned cheese on top, sauce was good not great. I was surprised by the garlic butter spaghetti, I wasn't expecting to like it but I did! As soon as you walk in you smell that wood fire going and it's amazing All in all great place with friendly and accommodating hosts. Will be back. read more
I've been wanting to try this place for a while and then finally got a chance to! We went a little after they opened and there was a slight wait but it was worth the wait! We brought a bottle of wine and they were kind enough to bring a bucket of ice for it. We started with the garlic bread which was delicious. For our mains, we both had the rigatoni vodka which you cannot go wrong with ordering! I do wish they still had broccolini as a side, but it was a special the week before. It would be great if you could order a side of chicken parm without the pasta but I do understand that it is a small space and busy so they couldn't do menu substitutions read more
I've been thinking about The Pasta Shop for a while after seeing it on Yelp. It's about a 45-50 minute drive from my house but my friend and I headed there on a recent Thursday night. We arrived slightly after 6 pm and after navigating some parking fun, we walked into a very cool albeit small restaurant. That's when the emotional roller coaster began. The very nice gentleman working the front, advised that their waiting list was closed for the night. Thankfully with his next breath he let us know that we could do takeout. We had seen a series of nice looking picnic tables on the sidewalk outside of the restaurant and decided that would work: They have a nice "specials menu" on top of their regular menu. We selected fried stuffed cherry peppers, house made mozzarella sticks, spicy Argentinian shrimp with squid ink pasta, carbonara, and the chicken Parmesan. The cherry peppers had just the right amount of spice kick, the mozzarella sticks were really high quality, and the chicken parm was really nicely done! But the true show stopper is the pasta! The squid ink was as good or better than any I've had (Arthur Avenue and Italy included). The egg yolk in the carbonara was so rich and vibrantly orange that the only possible explanation is that the chef is on a first name basis with the chicken that laid it! Absolutely outrageous carbonara, creamy and loaded with perfect bacon! They don't take reservations, so I suggest that you get there earlier than you usually would or take it to the picnic tables! Almost forgot, they told us to check back 15 minutes after ordering and the food was already waiting for us. That's fantastic service! All of the staff we encountered were really great! The people of the Denville area are lucky to have The Pasta Shop! read more

If you can get in, its a really great experience. The pasta dishes are amazing and made from scratch. The mushroom fettuccine is my favorite to get, they had a kale Cesar special which was huge and great for sharing. I always get their garlic bread and I've also tried the burrata. Thwre are no reservations so the wait to get in can be long but they offer take out. Just remember to check in every so often, we were told there would only be a 90 minute wait and we were there for 2 hours but after we asked, they were able to seat us another 15 minutes after that. They also sell wine by the glass and bottle from Old York Cellars which I've been to and liked. I love that they support and source NJ wine. Staff was super helpful and attentive. read more

I don't want to give a good review. Because this fantastic restaurant will be even more difficult to eat at. Impeccable service. Welcoming and friendly. Delightfully seasoned and flavorful food cooked perfectly. I was here with a work colleague but I just have to return with my wife. She is going to fall in love with this gem of a restaurant. They don't take reservations. Just get there early, leave your number and they'll text you. Don't be put off by the wait. It'll be worth it. Strongly recommended. read more
You basically have to be here when they open to get on the waitlist it seems otherwise you can do takeout and eat at one of the picnic tables close by or take it home and enjoy. We came here on a Saturday night and they offered course had no tables available so we decided to do takeout and eat at one of the picnic tables. We don't live close to this joint but every time we travel out of the City in to Jersey or PA we plan our trip around going to pasta shop for a meal. Pasta is always fresh and delicious, staff are authentic and sincere and it's always a good meal. Can't say enough about how much we love pasta shop. read more

Nothing bad to say at all. DELICIOUS food, quick service. Just a really fun vibe. Everyone is so pleasant, whether you're dining in or ordering out. Can't go wrong with the mozzarella sticks. There is almost always a wait but as long as you plan accordingly it's no issue. read more

Yummy yummy pasta!!! The gluten free pasta is amazing, texture is perfect. The carbonara was good, but I prefer it to be saltier. The penne vodka was perfect. The rigatoni was also great. Good portion sizes. Placed a to-go order. read more

Finally got to try The Pasta Shop that we've heard so many great things about and it did not disappoint! All the workers were super attentive and friendly and helped make the experience awesome. All the pastas are made in house and you can really taste it, all the pastas were cooked to a perfect al dente and the sauces were delicious. Would definitely recommend the mozzarella sticks appetizer & the burrata toast, both were super fresh and delicious. To top it all off this place is BYOB and the prices are beyond reasonable especially if you are familiar with NYC prices you are in for a treat! Definitely would recommend to anyone and would go back to try some seasonal specials! read more
Came here on a Thursday afternoon at 5pm (an hour after opening) and the restaurant was already packed! They do not take reservations. I did not want to miss out on the pastas so we ordered to go and waited for ~15 min. There are lots of outdoor seating options too. - Garlic bread: 5/5; buttery, garlicky with a crunchy crust and fluffy interior. It was gone within minutes - Spaghetti Carbonara: 5/5, rich, creamy and smoky from the pork. The egg yolk made the pasta extra rich and savory - Pappardelle Bolognese: 5/5, good bite with each noodle, a slight kick from the spice and a good tang from the tomato. Meat sauce was robust and slightly smoky Despite ordering everything to go, each pasta was as equally al dente and flavorful. Came here on a very busy Friday night hoping to eat inside. When we got there it was packed and they told us the wait would be 2 hours, but if we wanted to order takeout it would be 15 minutes and we could eat at the cute little picnic tables outside. That was perfect for us. It was a little hot outside, but we didn't mind. The place is so tiny inside there is barely any room for sitting and walking around. The food itself was so good. The chicken parm and rigatoni were great but the best thing was the mozzarella sticks. They were so good that I could've just had those as my meal. Also had the cannolis which were great too. Overall such a great experience and we will definitely be back! read more

Although I've been to the pasta shop before, it's strictly been to order food to-go. Part of the problem, is the wait time for a table can be over an hour. That was the case for us. The server was very nice and checked in on us regularly. It was difficult to hear/understand her, because of the ambient noise and her accent (then again, we all have accents!). My suggestion would be to have the specials posted inside the restaurant and not just outside when you walk in. A gentleman, who is either the owner or manager also checked in with us a few times. That was a nice touch. We were given a piece of cheese at the start. That wasn't my thing but it was a nice gesture. Bread would have been a better complementary item. We started with mozzarella sticks that were HUGE! They came with a grated cheese topping. I was not a fan of that but one stick here is like 2-3 at another restaurant. I ordered the linguine with clams, and it was delicious. The clams were mini-clams but I was given a small fork, which was perfect in picking out the meat. I had some food left over and I'd like the fact they keep everything near the exit. I was given a number, and when I handed one of the workers the number he gave me my to-go bag. Nice feature! Pasts Shop opens at 3PM during the week. Lunch is served only on the weekend per Roy, their head waiter. Not even open during the week for takeout.
Do they sell their fresh pasta for you to prepare at home?
Yes, you can buy several different kinds of fresh pasta there so you can take it home and put your own sauce on it. You can also go around the corner to Sergio's (same owner) to buy some delicious sauces to put on it.
