Po's has been on my bucket list for a long time. Located in East Hampton, it's not exactly on the beaten path. Don't get me wrong. East Hampton is a beautiful place, but we usually don't go there unless we have a purpose. Today's trip was for an open house and tour of the Bevins Bell factory. Today was a beautiful day, just enough sun and plenty of wind. We decided to sit outside, unfortunately being the only ones outside we were kind of neglected. We seated ourselves at a table, we weren't brought set ups (silverware, and napkins) as the hostess promised, and the service was a little slow. We were given menus and our orders were taken quickly. The appetizers came out quick. We decided to try the steamed dumplings, the crab Rangoon, and the Thai chicken lettuce cups. Everything tasted great and fresh. Lunch was Drunken Noodles, teriyaki beef and boneless barbecue ribs, and a lunch, special of salmon and bok choy. The lunches were filling and wonderful. We will definitely be coming back. I think East Hampton has given us a reason to visit more often. read more

I don't know about much in East Hampton, but this has got to be one of their gems! We started off with water and tea, I love having tea before my meal. I got the drunken noodles and they were just what I was craving with the perfect amount of spice. For an appetizer I got the "dumplings on crack" and I'm still thinking about them, a must try!!! I've been visiting since 2013. This is THE most phenomenal Chinese/American restaurant probably in the whole Tristate area. Po's heritage Hong Kong sauces and perfectly seasoned meats and fish will floor you. Inside the space is cozy and warm. In recent years Po opened outside space which gives the place a very countryside vibe. Overall the establishment is very clean. The space and the service are always in great condition. I ordered the drunken noodles with beef, asked for extra hot, and they actually made it spicy! I went to Colchester for work one day last week and this place was recommended to me. East Hampton was a short drive away so I checked it out. What a charming little old town! It was especially adorable all decorated for the holidays. Po's is located in a historic two story home and the interior looks fresh and new. Minimalistic and clean. I was dining alone and was greeted immediately and given a seat by the front window. Perfect for watching cars and people go by. I was given a carafe of water, a pot of hot tea and a cute bowl of hot buttered popcorn! How unique and brilliant! I placed my order with the young man server who had exquisite manners. My food looked beautiful and tasted delicious. 10/10. So glad I had leftovers to enjoy later. I'd love to come back to East Hampton to explore more of the town with a friend. This is a popular and very well run restaurant. Our latest visit was on a busy Friday night. We ate inside as outside dining was full. Right away I started to wonder if our meals would take a while to arrive since it was so busy outside. Thankfully our food came out very fast! We had minimal wait time and the food was amazing. The restaurant is well staffed and the servers and everyone involved with delivering meals are great. We also get takeout here quite a bit and have never had an ordering problem (always the right items). I'd recommend trying to make a reservation if you are planning to dine on-site. read more

This restaurant continues to impress me. First off, I tried the restaurant over the weekend. The place was extremely busy so reservations are strongly encouraged. On this visit I tried the Ma La Shrimp & Chicken and the Tom Kha soup. Both were amazing with the soup really being the star of the show. Po's offers beer and wine as well. We tried Po's recently and it was great. The service is friendly and knowledgeable, and many things can be made gluten free and vegan. We tried noodles, rice, and a couple of tofu dishes. Everything was made both gluten free and vegan which was really great. There was no sacrifice in flavor. The fried rice was excellent, and the sauces on the tofu had great taste. Don't get the Chinese food it isn't good, I only liked the Thai food after giving the Chinese food numerous tries of different menu items. So i get having an up charge on swapping items that are not considered equal for your Pu Pu platter. You even have online to call the restaurant if you want to swap, but when you have on your lunch menu that you can choose either a spring roll or egg roll (too gingery) and tell me keeping everything else the same on, but that swapping an egg roll for a spring roll will cost me $3 extra, no thank you. Called in an order on 12/23. One item was lemongrass chicken. When pick up was done, no lemongrass. My birthday, my favorite. Nothing. My son called to ask and was told "not on the menu ". We have enjoyed this restaurant in the past but have found that the last few times we've ordered it was really not so good. But we had hopes that it would be better this time, so again we placed a large order to go. To say we were disappointed at the quality of food was an understatement. The orders of Generals Taos chicken had a weird fishy taste. The shrimp and broccoli just fair. The orders of pork fried rice had no flavor and were very basic. Two good sized cold shrimp, perfectly cooked, a generous portion or both crab salad and lobster salad, served over a bed of delicious seaweed salad all perfectly dressed in a dressing that was out of this world. Peking Pork Chops were lightly coated fried medallions of pork tenderloin over stir fried onions in a sauce that was amazing. I would take a bath in the sauce. My wife had Morgans Prawns. Delicately fried jumbo shrimp with apples over romaine lettuce, again perfect dressed in a dressing that could only be from heaven. Came here with my two little brothers and chatted for quite a while. We were ushered right in by the friendliest staff. Had the Mongolian beef, the lemongrass chicken, seafood soup, the spring rolls, and the chicken fried rice. The fried rice was delicious and light. Finished off with the Oreo mousse. Everything was yummy. I was skeptical and a little thrown off by the popcorn start. Enjoyed the complimentary hot tea. Took quite a bit of food to go and enjoyed the experience. In addition to offering traditional dishes on the menu, they also have a section where they allow you to customize your entree with a protein, a sauce, and a selection of vegetables.The two different sauces I've tried during separate visits were both excellent .The vegetables and proteins were also cooked perfectly both times.We also ordered basic Chicken Fingers which were also so delicious.The batter was perfect, the chicken was tender and the duck sauce that came with it was no ordinary duck sauce. Hidden gem in the middle of CT. Walked in and was greeted by a friendly host and seated right away at a table by the front window. The decor gives you the feeling of eating at someone's home. My server was Morgan and she gave excellent recommendations and answered all questions I had. Nice added touch is they provide a kettle of hot tea and popcorn as soon as you're seated. Started off with the Spicy Mussels appetizer and I really enjoyed the little spice kick and heat that was in the sauce. For my entree I went with Morgan's suggestion of the Crispy Shrimp with Honey Glazed Walnuts. Very large shrimp that satisfied my appetite. Finished up with the Coconut Ice Cream for dessert. Hands down some of the best Chinese/Thai food in the area! Situated in downtown East Hampton, Po's Rice and Spice is a cozy spot with a beautiful dining room. Once seated we were given seasoned popcorn and tea to start. Both were lovely while we waited to place our orders. The sake was offered chilled or warmed, and was a delicious compliment to our meals. We got the beef curry spring rolls to start, and the sauce that came with it was a beautiful mix of sweet and spicy. I ordered the crispy shrimp with honey glazed walnuts. The shrimp were fried perfectly and the sauce was absolutely perfect. My husband ordered the mushroom special with chicken and it was flavorful and in season. Really just the best spot in town. I've been getting take out from Po's since it opened. Their food is always fresh and doesn't have that greasy, oil filled, heavy belly Chinese food feeling. They're relatively fast and one of the only spots in town that is open on Mondays. Ate in on Friday night for the first time since they opened. I regret not doing it more often. The ambiance is very cute and clean. The chairs were not the best, but goes with the look. Our server was very attentive and we love the tea and popcorn that gets brought out right away. How the tea is the perfect temperature to drink and not burn your face off still amazes me. Scallops pancakes were so crisp - you'd be missing out if you got them as take out. The duck was delicious and perfectly saucy. The spicy beef special of the night was also flavorful and exciting. Po herself was sitting with guests at the table next to us. First came here 2 years ago, and my friend and I have been dreaming of returning since then! Tonight, we got another chance to come to Po's and our memory of a great restaurant was confirmed. Both times, we arrived about 45 minutes before closing and with a big group (about 7 people). Both times, the staff was wonderful, accommodating and never rushed us. The decor and atmosphere is peaceful, clean and beautifully decorated. I love the pillows on the bench seating. Our meal started with complimentary popcorn with butter and 5-spice seasoning, giving a unique flavor to the popcorn. We also ordered tea which came in a modern tea press rather than a traditional tea pot, and is probably the best tea I've had at an Asian restaurant. For an appetizer, my friends and I split the Fried Brussel Sprouts drizzled with szechuan sauce which also had tasty pieces of Chinese sausage. It was phenomenal! I ordered the Mango Chicken Curry entree, which was spicier than I like, but was so yummy, I ate it despite the heat. There were fresh vegetables in a curry sauce with sauteed chicken. Each entree came with white or brown rice options. Po's also has a cool "Build Your Own" option, which is great for people who want to create their own dish as my friend did. the portions were deceptively large, and I had enough for lunch tomorrow. The dessert special was a Chocolate Bomb which is their own version of lava cake, and we ordered some for take-home. Rather than cooking it at the restaurant and destroying the flavor/texture/appearance by the time we got home, the kitchen put directions on the take home container to heat in the microwave 45 seconds (30 seconds was better for my microwave). It came out hot, gooey and was the perfect size for dessert. Everyone at our table loved their meal, the ambience, and the service. We will be back again, especially since Po herself came to our table at the end of our meal to ask how we enjoyed the food and personally invited us to come back on a Friday or Saturday for live music on their new patio. We looked at the patio which is roomy with lots of tables, a fireplace and heat lamps. It looks like the perfect place to go on a warm summer night, or even cool fall evening! read more

I can't believe I've never written a review for Po's before! It's been one of our regulars for years. Po is a lovely personable woman, and the food is always good. The atmosphere inside is bright and airy, and the newer outdoor eating area is a real treat, with a fireplace and gas heaters too, if needed. My personal favorite is the lemongrass chicken. read more
