Yikes, we came in here for take out today. Our usual spot is in Colchester, but we live in East Hampton. We have driven past China Sea several times but haven't been in until today. We played it safe and ordered egg rolls, general tso chicken, sweet & sour chicken, teriyaki beef sticks, and boneless spare ribs. Atmosphere: A - The space is modern & clean with plenty of parking. Food: Failed :( The General's chicken was sauted chicken instead of fried & the sauce was super watery. The sweet & sour chicken was just ok but it's hard to mess up fried balls of chicken. The spare ribs smelled like bologna and the pieces were shredded small pieces of meat with a bizarre texture. The teriyaki beef was inedible - looked like rubber on a stick and had a foul smell. We wanted to love this spot because it is so close to home, but "me thinks not". read more

They used to be great. I sincerely don't know what happened. Taste quality of food is off the last few months. Additionally they aren't getting orders correct anymore. I've had to go back the last two times I ordered to pick up an item they forgot to include with order. While there tonight 4 customers returned for items not in their bag. This spot is actually very good and has become one of my favorite take-out locations within the last few months, especially for Chinese. They do have some seating within the building, obviously not right now, and the place is always very clean. The staff is very polite and accommodating and the food is always fresh and delicious, as you can see them cooking away when you walk in. Very average but I'm glad to have a sushi place so close to my house! My husband and I have been here a few times. I always get sushi and miso soup and he always gets Chinese. The portions are very large which I like since it keeps well and we can have it for more than one meal. The prices are right and the fish is fresh. I don't get the bad reviews. The take out here is better than most others in the area, and the Wonton soup beats a lot of restaurants. I've always been treated very well by the woman who works there, and I've been going here for almost a decade and a half. I recommend the chicken and broccoli, the Wonton Soup, chicken fried rice (way better than pork fried rice) and the steamed dumplings. This is the worst Chinese place I've ever eaten at! My friends and I ordered by phone pick up. I ordered General Tsao's tofu. They said they won't fry tofu. So, after arguing, I said, "Fine, just make it not fried". I instructed them to make it mild, not spicy. Then, they call back, tell me I don't want General Tao's tofu, and they're making me some other tofu dish. Whatever, I'm hungry, it's not animal, good enough. We get there, and find out they failed to inform us there was a minimum So, my friend ordered vegetable egg rolls. "You don't want vegetable egg rolls! How about regular!". There aren't many lunch choices for the town of Marlborough and China Sea is definitely one of my go to places when I forget my lunch at home. Fast and attentive service and the food is always good. My family and friends have been going here for years and we all love it!!! They give you huge portions for a very reasonable cost, and a lot of the time they throw in a free drink. My college roommate loved their General Tso's chicken so every time i would go back to school i would pick up some on my way back. Unfortunately he chicken and broccoli dish is lacking flavor and they are skimp on veggies in every dish. I expect better and I know they can do it. Wow. We loved this place! We pulled in late night on our way home. We noticed it getting off the highway, were hungry and figured why not try. Not to mention, the owner was more than happy to accommodate us despite closing within about 15-20 minutes. We dined it. Really nice ambience, very modern and best of all - clean. I ordered a salmon/avocado hand roll - very well made and a very generous portion of salmon and avocado. I also ordered the chef's tekka don, absolutely delicious, very similar to a poke bowl, again a more than generous portion. My husband ordered the seafood delight, very good and another generous portion. Overall, excellent service, very nice owners, very good food, nice restaurant. When you order by phone, this little boy takes your order. He is good, but is very annoying and that's why we won't be back anytime soon. He also takes your money and can be very combative with the customers. My husband came home a few weeks ago and literally had enough of this 10 year old kids attitude. His mother (or adult) just listens to him. There are many places to go and well, we certainly don't need to give our money and be annoyed. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. I've tried them on occasion during busy and slow times. I was told 20 mins on a busy night and ended up waiting another 15 mins. The quality of the food varies. Typical Chinese take-out with one difference.....the beef teriyaki. Whatever they do to it, It tastes absolutely fabulous. They must know they make something special because it's pretty expensive.. $4 for two sticks. The major downside to this place is the little boy they have working behind the counter. He's got a serious attitude and very little patience. You'll be ordering and he'll say "that it?" after everything you say. It's very annoying. I'll let you know when that's it!.
