POSH! is truly a one-of-a-kind boutique full of beautifully curated things. A friend of mine recommended the shop to me last December when he found out how obsessed I am about Christmas decorations. They have an amazing collection of Mark Roberts fairies, elves, and Santas, along with stunning custom holiday decor pieces. Their non-Christmas inventory is just as unique and special. This is my go-to store for special gifts. I'd like to add a note in regards to some other reviewers' experiences. The employees do not follow you around the store to make you uncomfortable; they watch to make sure they can grab any items you have in your hands to hold for you at the front, so you're not uncomfortable browsing with an armful of merchandise (there are no bags or baskets), and to answer any questions you have. All staff are EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the inventory, and will gladly answer any and all questions you have. They're also all very friendly, and treat you, and each other, like family. Sadly, this shop looks like its been merchandised by a hoarder. The overabundance of sparkly floral arrangements is shocking....and that's just the first impression of this store. Filled with extraordinarily overpriced home furnishings, most of which can not be seen because every surface is covered with pretty unattractive accessories. After managing my way to the back of the store being tag team stalked by a pair of employees (I'm pretty sure they thought I was going to shp lift!), I came upon a bench that might have worked for my client. While one sales associate ran to the front, the other stood staring at me and when I said I'd like to send a picture to my client, they made it abundantly clear "No pictures"! Also got the " that's the policy" line. I have been in the home furnishings industry for 20 years and thought I'd seen it all....this little shop was a first for me! read more

I almost did not visit this store due to the reviews; but I had been here before and they are unique in that they have a ton of inventory and you can always find a gift for the home. I did a little Christmas shopping recently and found the staff to be very kind and helpful. They were a little slow and the 2 sales ladies on duty were eager to help me. I found 2 small gifts under $30 each and a nice crystal bowl reasonably priced I thought. I'm a fan and will plan to visit them again. read more

Although this store is "affiliated with" the Posh on Dominion, they do not cross inventory and therefore an exchange can not be made between the two stores. Even though the salesperson at the Dominion shop offered to take the return and issue a credit for the Maple Ave shop but the credit could not be used at the Dominion shop. The salesperson at the Maple Ave shop simply stated that none of her clients take issue with this policy. Anyway, we didn't like their policy and that's our own problem but the saleslady was definitely being quarrelsome and not helpful and talking down to us. All we wanted to do was exchange a $140 dish that had been given as a gift but the saleslady acted as if we were lowly idiots. Definitely don't deserve any of my business. They have some nice stuff but the prices are ridiculous. read more

Rude. Rude. Rude. I have NEVER been spoken to like that in my life. And it was the by the OWNER. If I could give this zero stars I would. My sister and I went into the store to get a gift for my mom. We were in sweats as it was a lazy day and my sister wasn't feeling that great so she didn't feel like getting properly dressed. I will be objective in this recount: Owner (blonde older woman): -Very nice store with nice things (although they are overpriced and the store is crowded with many items). -My mom had taken a picture of the item she wanted (there is a strict no picture policy, which once told my mom apologized and put her camera phone away). -We were not nicely dressed. Us: -We were literally talked to like the scene out of Pretty Woman when Julia Roberts goes shopping and isn't in the nicest clothes. -After Christmas there is supposed to be a 50% off sale. It does say selected on items (on some signs) and then on another sign only says it excludes two items (I think custom flowers and something else--not the item we were interested in). -It was as if she was annoyed she was having a sale because that invited low-life's "like us" into the store. -Once we got to the register she said they only had 20% off the sleigh we wanted (not shown anywhere I could see). -My mother was told a week earlier by a younger associate that the item she wanted would be on sale (50% off) the day after Christmas. I told this to the owner and she went on about how no one said that and she had been the owner for 31 years etc. (basically calling my mother a liar) -I asked several times if there were other items similar to the one we had and she said they were put back in the vault and wouldn't be back until next Christmas and that maybe they were out somewhere on the floor (but didn't volunteer to help look). -I would ask something and she would tell be about how many lines they had that morning and how important she and her store were (this is not objective but true). -We stepped outside to call my mom to confirm the item (because there was no service in the store and we were not allowed to take a picture or FaceTime her to show her). We said we would be right outside and come back in. The associate brought the item to the counter, where the owner was standing, but when we came back it was not there... It was clear she didn't not want us in the store and maybe even to not buy any of her items. Needless to say we obliged. It's laughable that in her response to another review she says that people are bullying her when clearly SHE is the bully. I have only written a couple reviews on Yelp as it is a pain but I felt compelled to warn others. The other reviews say similar things--you cannot dismiss them all. I'm not trying to be ugly, but we are a plenty wealthy family. As Julia Roberts says in Pretty Woman, "BIG mistake." read more

What a great store!!!As in the past I had a great shopping experience. I not only found what I was looking for but so much more. This is a store you have to have time to go through it all. I usually do a 3 to 4 times a go round. So much to see and enjoy. The employees of the owner MaryAnn are wonderful and very helpful. This is a store that commands your attention and awe. I have visited Posh! many times and have not had the unfortunate experiences others have had. Please keep in mind, this is not a box furniture store or Pier One so handling things may be frowned upon however, the staff there are always ready and willing to assist. The items in Posh! are luxury items and should be treated as such. I thoroughly enjoy stolling through the store looking for that next great piece I will not find anywhere else. The ceramics are to die for and there is a line of lamps (I just love lamps!) that are like none other I have seen and fabulous. I do recommend you give it a try. I agree with the last reviewer that this is a fabulous haven for quality goods. If you need a unique gift for someone special, this is the place to go. In addition to home items, you can find jewelry, florals and clothing. I went in looking for some items to finish off my new den and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and quantity of choices. The prices were very reasonable compared to say shopping in Middleburg, Dupont Circle or Chevy Chase. There is a lot to choose from- so take your time and find your treasure. read more

A great store! Unique and beautiful items unlike any other in the area, ever! A customer for more than 30 years, we've found so many gems for our home, and gifts for our friends as well. You could not go in the store and spend a few minutes. It has always taken the better part of an hour to make one pass-through. Mary Ann, the owner, has often gone out of her way to make sure that our satisfaction was complete whether we picked the items it up in the store or had the items delivered to our home. Oh the joy this place brings. It is rather pricey but we've saved our $$ and purchased so many beautiful things over the years. We are so sad to hear it will be closing soon. I was truly surprised to see some of the negative reviews posted for the Posh stores, because my wife and I have visited the stores for both direct purchases and for decorating services over the past 12 months, and our experiences have been uniformly positive on both counts. Several of the reviews are now rather dated, and present the store in an unfair light, and so I'll give my views from someone who is currently working with the Posh team. We've worked with the owner, Mary Anne, and found her insightful, skilled, patient, and unusually enthusiastic. Although ours is not a big decorating job (one room), we've never felt we've lacked for attention nor were we relegated to a junior staffer, and Mary Anne remains focused even on the smallest details of the job. As with all stores, there are some items that likely represent better bargains than others, but I think it is safe to say the quality of the merchandise is very, very high no matter the price point. Overall, we're fans of the stores, the staff and the owner and we expect to continue to do business there and to recommend the stores to others. read more

Thank you for your clear incite and reviews. I was planning on doing some extensive holiday gift shopping at Posh..... hoping to find unusual and attractive gifts as well as furniture. Sounds more like a shop that carries mostly catalogue available items and I certainly expect at least civility and respect from shop keepers. Big mistake on their part. "Be careful, there's a breakable lamp on that table." Well, yes, of course there is - there's breakable stuff all over the place. I should have written this review long ago, but I guess better late than never. I have shopped at Posh for years and was there again today, the day after Christmas, which is a ritual in my family. I am always reminded of what a rare beauty this shop is and always has been. I read some of the poor reviews and immediately wanted to shoot back about how there is no accounting for taste and the unbelievable sense of entitlement and importance of some people. Clearly, most of these negative reviewers have never worked a day in retail in their lives and have no idea about what it takes. MaryAnn and her staff have always been helpful and professional, and I thank them for all the hard work and know how it takes to create such a special space. I was really surprised to read some of the reviews. I have shopped at Posh many times and have only had great experiences. The first time I went in was just to check out what they had and was amazed to see just how many beautiful and unique treasures they have. And this is not just a cookie cutter store, they have things that I have never seen anywhere else. Since finding it I have gone to a number of weddings, and now I always go off registry, and find something fun and special here and every time I get the best thank you note from people who are amazed at what I got them. I also don't understand other people's comments, the people who work there are really helpful and sweet. I have been in other stores where people ignore me or are impossible to find when I need them, but here they walk around and are happy to help in every way. Also, I was shocked to see what another reviewer said about the owner, but she is one of the nicest people you can meet. This is not your typical "I'm the owner" types, she is there during the week and even on weekends helping customers and working with clients. Anytime I have had a question she and all of the staff have been eager to help. I dont usually like to post on sites like this, because I tend to see that people use it as a way to be mean, negative, and hurt others, but I felt that this was one of those times when I needed to write a fair and honest review. I hope that more people who love this store, like I do, will speak up, rather than the mean people who use this as a way to bully others. read more

I joined Yelp just so I could write a review of this store. I visited this store to pick up a few home decor items. To begin with, I was greeted with "Please shut the door". Are you kidding me? I walked about three steps in and I had a tail. Not a problem as I didn't planning on stealing anything, but just a little uncomfortable in terms of trying to enjoy your shopping experience. I took my time looking around and entered an open area to browse the fabrics and wallpapers. In no way is this area closed off to the public. In fact, I was so thrilled to find a certain wallpaper book that I was just about to make an order. I was informed that they do not sell to the public and in fact I am not even allowed to look at the books. Are you kidding me? As if that were not enough to send me running out the door, I looked at some of the silk flowers and was informed that I was not allowed to touch those, as well. Are you seriously kidding me? I will never go into this store again. Anytime I have an opportunity to share this opinion with every single well-to-do girlfriend I know, I will. I dress beautifully, I live in a prestigious zip code and I drive a Mercedes...If I am not your target audience...Who the heck is? Also, they demand that one does not take photos in their store. Just a little tip ladies, A few of the items I saw were marked up two and three times the amounts I have seen at other home decor stores. They probably don't want you to find things much cheaper online. BTW - The Pear Tree Cottage down the street is warm, friendly, great stuff, and a great shopping experience. read more

Posh is true to its name! I give it a perfect score. The love and the attention to detail in this store is unsurpassed. The element of surprise rolls on and on in every room of this amazing store. It is unique and puts Vienna on the map. Walking through the store is a revelation. The owner's amazing taste and sense of style permeates. The abundant selection of decor and quality gifts is truly outstanding. The selection of hats, handbags, jewelry, throw pillows, flower arrangements, furniture, paintings, stuffed animals, baby gifts, and whatever you need . name it, and it is there. I was shopping for lighting and saw this place. Although their lighting was mostly vintage chandeliers, I thought it was interesting. I was surprised how much inventory and how well laid out the store was. Many beautiful vintage items. I saw a $300 handbag and several other items I planned to purchase. I saw one person working there. She kinda walked around the store with a book looking at the ground in a non-warm and non-welcoming manner. Then, I asked to use the bathroom and was told they didn't have a restroom for customers. I was shocked. This huge beautiful store full of expensive items doesn't have a restroom. What? I thought a minute and decided if they cared so little for their customers then I'd take my money and buy a bag somewhere else. Too bad too. I really wanted to buy some things there. read more

Have had a terrible experience with the owner of Posh/Posh Too. A strong woman with one gold ...Control. The idea of honor seems to be a bad word at Posh. The value of what is spoken can not be trusted from my own experience which leaves questions to the pricing as well as information available on some of the more than over priced items. Vendors beware, this company does not pay for materials delivered. We had the unfortunate encounter with the ownwer who came in to our showroom and ordered items, which were delivered to them and then refused to pay the invoices. Every time we called, we were rudely told that they had indeed paid for the items. we considered small claims court, but being a small business, we couldn't devote that much time to collect the money owed. read more

I am astonished this business is still operating. Does the inventory ever change? I had the worst retail experience of my entire life in this store. Wearing my work clothes ( I am a painter), I went in to ask a question about a light fixture on display. Bad mistake. The shop assistant looked me up and down and just turned away! When I asked again, she said 'Someone else is interested in that" and actually walked away! A young man at the desk finally helped me, but I decided that I would never buy from them. While this store has beautiful and unique, finely crafted pieces. The sales associates behavior was deplorable, I have a beautiful home on Trump National and I have worked with many different interior decorators in different states that I have lived in. My daughter and her husband live in Vienna and have been married for a little over a year. She and I work every week painting, remodeling and decorating her home. While I have previously hired people to do this for me, they are newlyweds and on a tighter budget as many of us are when we are first married. I love working with her on their house, we always ended up covered in paint and bruises but the joy of the work we have done on OUR own and the quality of the time that we spend working on it makes it all worth while. On one of these work days, we needed a break from painting and doing some work. We were on our way to Bed, Bath and Beyond to get her a new trash can and salad spinner, we were driving up 123 and saw Posh on our right, I had never noticed it before, so we decided to stop in. The minute we walked in, I knew that I had found my new favorite store and was already envisioning all the things i wanted to put in both my house and my daughter and son-in-law's home. We were in our painting clothes and flip flops when we got there. The women working there immediately started keeping their eyes on us, I wasn't too worried about it because we weren't looking our usual best. However, after my daughter selected three accent objects for her home, just little things that she loved and were within her budget, we walked up to the counter so we could get checked out. I joked light-heartedly with the woman about how much fun we have working on her house. She asked where I lived and immediately insulted Potomac Falls and said that "Trump had made a mistake because Algonkian Parkway was never going to be a nice area, it was after all still Sterling and practically Sterling Park and Sterling is a very low rent area as opposed to McLean or Great Falls where there is actual money and less trash", I have friends that live in all of these areas. She then proceeded to insult the part of Vienna that my daughter lives in because it is not one of the new, large homes, but a more modest house on a large lot. I honestly felt like we were in the scene in Pretty Woman where Julia Roberts walks in to the first store on Rodeo Drive. We might not have looked our best, but I am a phenomenal shopper and a very loyal customer that has plenty of money to throw around in that kind of store. But after the way they treated me in there, I will never go back. That kind of attitude is intolerable. They made a big mistake. I will make sure that all of my friends know just what the service in Posh is like. Don't judge someone based on their looks, you never know who they really are. read more

I walked into "Posh" at 10:30 on a weekday; guessing the store hours as they are not posted, nor is there an answering machine message. The only signage on the store says something to the effect that shoplifters will be given a free ride in a police car. However, despite the one-star rating here and the other horrific reviews, I still made the trip due to its location and my need to quickly furnish a client's house. Entering the store I was not greeted by anyone, saw no one, but then wandering towards the back, I was greeted by a woman who looked me up and down. After this examination, she walked back to her counter to make a call. While shopping, I then heard her loudly berate an employee over the phone who had not answered the call within three rings. Hanging up, she turned to an employee and remarked that she has trouble with Hispanic employees. "Losers" she says. The furniture is substandard for the prices and the" impulse buys" I recognize from "Oriental Trading". When I asked the origin of items, I was told vaguely "overseas". When I attempted to sit on a chair, I was told "no sitting!" I asked to take a photograph of a potential purchase as there are no returns and nothing lent on approval. The same woman then threatened to take my camera and call the police. Despite my deadline to furnish a house and keeping in mind the possibility that I may have somehow misunderstood my overall first impression, I found myself inexplicably still in the store. The last straw, however, was hearing a woman being refused entry because she was disabled; and therefore she needed to use her service dog. This is too rich to keep to myself. read more

This place is a joke. I visited the store hoping to get a price quote for two very expensive chairs. I had the model number, fabric and trim already selected. I did all my home work and all I was looking for was a reasonable price. The sales clerk refused to give me a price, saying " We don't work that Way." Clearly, she didn't want to deal with an educated consumer. I have found that the merchandise they sell is inflated way over retail price. If you are looking for high end furniture and do your home work, you will save a fortune else where. Posh has numerous beautiful and unusual home accessories, so is a joy to explore. However, what is unpleasant is being stalked by the staff. I was meeting a friend there so waited inside the door for her arrival, and an employee stood a couple of feet from me the whole time. Did she imagine I was about to snatch something and was waiting for my getaway car?? My friend and I then wandered the store, and were followed at close range by either the employee or the owner. As we picked up each chosen item, it was promptly removed from our grasp, allegedly to be taken to the register, but it felt as if the action were to prevent us hiding it on our persons! The owner totaled the purchases and managed to complete the transaction without ever cracking a smile or being courteous. Since there is a sale in progress, where "all clothing" is reduced, I did inquire about the hats, but was rudely told they are not clothes! Overall, what could have been a delightful shopping experience was totally spoiled by the attitude and behavior of the owner. read more

I had seen the store but never entered .. I live in Maryland and had spent the day purchasing furniture for my daughters new home from Leesburg to Tysons. The store is beautiful and the merchandise lovely and abundant, but both employees had attitude. I saw exactly the tole chandelier I wanted. Sad to say, I was trailed but not offered help. The salesperson watched me look but couldn't answer questions. She couldn't even see the price tags, luckily I am tall.. Were they vintage or new? Would I be buying the one on display? I was going to purchase for my daughter but couldn't send a photo for her confirmation. "That's the policy" was the only statement the salesperson said the entire time I was trailed. I was at the store the other day when the alleged owner was there --I could not believe she was the owner--and I was astounded at her ruddiness, unprofessionalism, and obnoxious behavior. A piece of advice to her is that she has to behave better if she wants to stay in business, especially given her gaudy, overpriced, unpractical furniture...the owner's rude and nasty behavior totally sapped my energy and ruined my day! read more

This store doesn't even deserve one star. I also witnessed the scene that Kelsey described on May 20th 2019, and after reading these other reviews, I'm even more convinced that the owner and her employees are terrible people. The customer that Kelsey described was an older Muslim woman wearing a hijab. She came into the store and it was clear that she was following-up on a previous interaction with the owner. The owner immediately lost her temper and began talking down to the Muslim woman, threatening to call the cops. The poor older lady kept her calm and appeared to be in complete shock as to why the owner was screaming at her. I think all of the customers were also in shock because we all just looked at each other in complete dismay. I can't speak to what happened after this blowup, because I left immediately in disgust. Who treats the elderly like this? Especially when they're the customer. No wonder this place is going out of business. I just can't believe that in 2019 people are still treating others in this manner. After reading the other reviews, it appears as though customer service is an area where this store is lacking. I too had one of the employees following me around the store, as if I was going to shoplift. Don't worry, the items in this store are hideous; it looks as if costume jewelry violently threw up everywhere on the inside. If you look at the names of the reviewers who complained of being treated poorly by the owner and her staff, you'll notice an interesting trend. The majority of the names are ethnic. Think it's a coincidence? Probably not, it's probably just racism. read more

After reading the other reviews, it appears as though I'm not the only one who witnessed the owner treating her customers terribly. I was driving by and saw that POSH was having a going out of business sale. I stopped in and was minding my own business when the owner (blond/grey hair) acted completely rude to one of her customers. So much for the customer is always right! The owner was totally out of line in the way that she spoke to the patron and even threatened to call the cops. Not to mention that the patron was Muslim and wearing a traditional head scarf. You can deduce what you will from this post, but a white lady berating an Muslim woman during Ramadan. Sounds like no place that I would ever want to frequent.
