I've had an incredibly frustrating experience trying to schedule a free in-home design consultation with Crate & Barrel. First, I scheduled online, and less than an hour before the appointment, the designer canceled on me. While disappointing, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and rescheduled for the following week. This time, the designer, Lise, reached out to confirm the appointment--only to not show up at all. No call, no explanation, nothing. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable, especially from a company that markets itself as providing premium services. I wasted hours rearranging my schedule for absolutely nothing. If this is how Crate & Barrel treats customers during the consultation phase, I can't imagine how much worse it would be once a purchase is involved. I love CB! I wish they had locations in Montgomery County. However the drive here isn't too bad. Service here is usually top notch. They carry alot of nice glassware to show off your candles. Everyone here was so extremely helpful. But a special shout out has to go to Lise, who literally was one of the most kind and amicable people I have come across in the customer service industry. Beware of this company they take advantage of customers. I lost a lot of money because I couldn't get an answer on when the product would arrive. I had to purchase the item somewhere else who gave me an exact time of arrival. And this company would not let me cancel even though i had purchased the item many weeks ago and still was not sure when it would arrive. Beware of these backorder scams where it could be a year or more until you receive the product. They still charge you even though you aren't given an ETA so you have to pay for something up to a year in advance or more until you receive it. Most companies do not charge you until the product ships but not this one they are scamming out of a lot of money because no one can wait this long and you usually have to purchase with some other company which leaves you paying twice a much or more. When you purchase online they don't give you an ETA and then we you try to get one they give you the run around. I purchased an idea because I was have guests and needed for a specific time frame you can't wait up to a year or more for a product. read more

Came here to check out sofas. Needed a large store, at least larger than the crate & barrel in Arlington, VA. Decent amount of furniture to check out! Lots of kitchen items to look at as well. Staff weren't very helpful or friendly. Apple Maps may show the crate & barrel across the street outside of the mall but it's not- it's in the mall! Love this store and layout. My basket is always full. Honestly I need a cart! The staff asks to bring items to the counter when they notice my basket filling up. They did this on three separate trips. I hope it's in their staff training. I love coming here for that reason. Also, there's parking right outside the doors! Again love that! This is a beautiful and stylish store. If you are looking for ideas on how to style your home, then definitely stop by and take a look. There are three floors and everything from silverware and glasses to sofas and rugs. I went with the purpose of looking for lamps and they had a lot of choices. The salespeople were wonderful! A shout out to Mandy, who was super helpful and had great ideas. The prices are not cheap, but you can find unique selections, that are excellent quality. I will definitely go back and I have a few ideas on what I want. The store is located right across from Tyson's Galleria. Bought a concrete coffee table and end table last year for a Christmas gift for my son . The coffee table is cracking and chipping already . I called Crate and Barrel and they did absolutely nothing ! They said they only guarantee their furniture for 30 days . Seriously ? Furniture costing $1000 dollars is only guaranteed for 30 days ? The gentleman told me that within 30 days you should know if it's damaged . Yes ! If it arrives damaged then I agree but not if it is poor quality and does not wear well! Despite finding out on our last trip this location doesn't carry many Crate & Kids items, we decided to go ahead and purchase the Orland Black Bassinet & Pad from their website and ship it to this location for curbside pick up. You would think for $399.00 plus tax of a "solid wood" bassinet, it would arrive nice. This was not the case. We spent our entire morning (2+ hours) driving out of our way to pick up and drive it home, only to realize when we got home that it was broken in TWO locations. One of the spindles was broken in half and part of the base had apparently splintered during the cutting process and was just painted over. We called the store and unfortunately, they cannot start processing our return and re-order until we package the item back up, drive back out there, and inspect the item. We will give Crate & Barrel one more shot before removing our registry from the store and just returning the bassinet. You would think for an item that is designed to hold a baby, it would have had some better care in the creation and shipping. read more

I like how large this place is and they have their own parking lot. You would have to come here specifically to come here. Or, just find a way to navigate through the weird traffic patterns to enter this place. Inside is not as large as I thought it would be considering its a standalone building. But, from the angle it just looks humongous. It is quite thin when you go inside. However, that really does not matter. What really matters is that they carry what you are looking for. For me, I needed barware and glassware and I did not want to wait for shipping. So I took a drive out here just for barware and glassware and I got what I needed. Nothing out of the ordinary. The staff asked me if I needed help and they wrapped it up how I needed it for my needs. I can't really comment on how they handle larger orders. I didn't really need help anyways. I generally like shopping for furniture without additional help as I already do my research before coming in. read more

I have never been to Crate and Barrel before. I have seen their locations but never knew what they sold; I thought it was furniture. I need new dinnerware. The Corelle ware is gradually going away (meaning when i drop a plate it shatters and I break out the shop vac). Besides it's time for new stuff in the kitchen. Enter Crate and Barrell. They sell dinnerware made in Europe vs China. If I want china I'll go to Ikea. The blue rimmed Roulette made in Portugal looked awesome online. So I went and was helped by a few folks, everyone is very friendly. John ended up giving me service I needed. I wanted the 20 piece dinnerware set. It's sold open stock meaning when I drop a cup I can simply replace it without needing to buy the whole set again. A good idea. John traced down all twenty pieces I needed, wrapped it up nice so it would not break and i was good to go. Very nice stuff. I recommend Crate and Barrel ; big open store with a good selection of all kinds of stuff. John is knowledgeable and very helpful. read more

I bought a $150 walnut cutting board from Crate and Barrel Tysons that warped within the first week at my home. I didn't even use. I washed lightly with some water and dried thoroughly. I called the store and they said "sure bring it back and we will take it back." When I got to the store, the staff gave me a hard time and denied having told me on the phone they would take back. One of the employees was angry, rude, and dismissive from the moment I told her what happened. She said "NO! We don't take back those things." She was busy and didn't want the hassle. She denied that she could look up my info on the computer, even though later the manager later could look up the original sale. The manager of this store also was condescending and gave me a hard time about bringing it back as well. She tried to do and say everything possible to not offer a refund. She said "we will do this as an exchange, but only as a one-time courtesy. It's out policy not to offer refunds." No refunds even on defective items?! I told her about the angry and caustic employee and she gave me a "ohhhh I'm so sorry" but in a condescending and unemotional way--she went back to typing out the order in the computer. It was my interpretation she could care less. This store's management and some of their employees appear to care less about customer service. And it's not smart. If I would have had a good experience getting a simple refund done, I would have spent thousands more at this store. Now they just lost a customer--over a cutting board. read more

Over the years, I've been searching for reliable, modern, and affordable dish ware. My search has landed here, Crate & Barrel, as the dishes I've purchased from here has withstand the rest of time. I had an eye on a specific line and color of salad plates. I placed the order online for pick up at this location. Two days after placing the order, I still haven't received an update on my order so I decided to go to the store and pick up the items in person. I happened to be in the area so why not. I have to say the the online pick up process was chaotic. And it turns out I didn't get an order update because the items weren't available at the store. Despite all the chaos. I actually really appreciated how the stuff took the time to search for my items and to figure out the glitch in the ordering process. They ended up ordering the items with free shipping to my house. By the way, they have moved to the renovated space at Tyson's 2 galleria after being at their original space for such a long time. read more

Decided to check our their Black Friday deals on Monday. They did have a pretty good selection of houseware items. I ended up buying mugs from them and they were about $16 for 4 mugs. I "bought" some swatches to return and after running around the store to find someone to help me, it took so long, I didn't have time to actually buy the sofa....! There weren't that many customers, just no one manning the checkout. Traffic to this location is a mess so I had to escape before it took me an hour to go a block. I would no reccomend this store. It's old and dingy. Over half an hour just to do a simple return.... on a Thursday afternoon.... outrageous. Staff just tidying up and not checking people out. I love the style of Crate and Barrel. For many it's $$$. I came and got new plates/dishes so I didn't have to put my kids up for sale. There is a greeter at the front door. No one came up to offer any help or service while I was looking around in the store. For me, I am alright with it cause I like to look around uninterrupted, feeling stalked and pressured to buy something. When I did have a question or needed assistance, I was able to find someone and she went and grabbed all the items I needed. IT was ready to go at the checkout counter -nothing to haul around..that was really nice. Check out was a breeze and the plastic handles for the paper bags are pretty cool. They have the online ordering, but many of the plate items I bought had a shipping charge since they were heavy so just be aware of that. Happy Shopping! read more

Terrible experience. They sold me a faulty product and then wouldn't fix it. They claim they are no longer responsible since it's from the "old store" (half a mile away) which closed down. Then they told me to call the website customer service number, and that they would help me. They did not, despite being on the phone for over one hour. I was looking for a mat to a frame that was faulty. Literally a piece of cardboard, which was defective when they sold it to me, and they refused to help. Their website says "we stand behind the quality of our products and want every purchase to be a positive experience. We will do our BEST to make things right if you are not satisfied." LIE and LIE. A giant waste of time for me and a huge disappointment that Crate and Barrel won't stand behind it's products, even when it was clearly their defect (which they admitted to). To make it better, they told me that they would give me a 10% off coupon (which they're offering to everyone on the website) - so they are also insulting. Someone from Crate and Barrel will likely respond to this and tell me to call them back and that they'll help me. They won't. It's just them trying to cover for themselves and pretend they care about their products and that they're customer friendly. Neither is true. Don't believe them. read more

Made an online order to do in store pickup at this location. I haven't shopped at this c&b before but I have never been impressed with their customer service because most employees seem like they are doing you a huge favor when you're shopping in their store. I don't expect a red carpet but being polite should be a given especially if I am polite? The email said to call the store so I call the store from the underground parking. A lady on the phone said I had to drive up to the front entrance to the contactless pickup. Cool. So I drive up and the front entrance is odd and outdated? So I park because the round about area is very tight. And was maybe 20 feet, possibly less, from the sign. I call again and this time it's the same lady but she is clearly watching me through the glass and is like no you have to be IN your car at the contactless pickup sign. Okay? Like I realize now this was a given but does it really matter? I was more than 6 feet away. I don't like being given directions in sections when she could have been crystal clear the first time or even better, just put it in the email. Overall I felt like a fool and the employee was making it seem like I was a fool? I like c&b products but their employees truly make me reconsider shopping there. read more

I should have read reviews before making the purchase of a rather expensive dining table and chairs. Several of you mentioned delivery problems similar to ours. The table and chairs were scheduled to be delivered in January. It was finally delivered last month but with a defect in the table. They scheduled a replacement delivery but on the morning of the new delivery called to say that the new table had the same problem. The delivery was then delayed for another two weeks, but the person didn't tell the delivery team, who called and asked us where we were, despite the cancellation. We live over an hour away from the delivery site. I finally got them to redeliver and they just called today to say that again, the replacement table has the same problem. At least, after the first time, they check the product. The store looks beautiful with a good selection of high priced furnishings but I am not sure anymore about the quality. Gayle, the associate who helped us, was very nice and knowledgeable. It is not her fault but something is amiss with this product. read more

What a cool furniture store! I like so many things there. They have many different styles. Modern, country, contemporary, elegant, cute, ... They sell summery outdoor stuff at 30% off now. Not only furniture but also kitchen and bathroom goods. even coffee machines. It was really fun to check them out. Never got bored. I wish they were a little bi t more cheaper. They were all emptying boxes, doing other things, and could NOT be bothered to check me out. This is a really nice location with some really great employees. I got my dining room table for here for only $800 and it is one of the nicest tables around. Not everything here is overly expensive. We also walked around the store to get some little things. Mini tongs, cup holders, butter knives. They truly have everything that you could need here, especially if you like to decorate around the seasons. There is parking right downstairs from this place. They have great product. Top notch. My issue is with the commission based sales people and the management or at least the direction of the information in regards to what information the store gives a customer and what only line customer service gives a customer. For example. We bought a large value table with relatively no time dealing with the sales person , Lise. Upon checking out I asked my thrifty questions like return policy (if you reject delivery once they deliver the item you will not be charged a restocking fee) cool. And expected. However I was perplexed, having worried in furniture sales previously, I few the customer should have all the information and get the best price possible. This creates a great customer experience and establishes a lasting relationship with the customer. I did not have that experience with Lise. To her defense I called the store floor manager today and inquired as to the price adjustment policy per the store. I asked about the price adjustment policy and gave me same response. Long story short I'm happy with how the customer service treated me and gave me a discount also they tried to call the store to have the employee give me the discount but the employee refused so we just canceled and re wrote the order. I don't know why the employee wouldn't want the sale but her loss. Good customer service so good I give 5 stars. Way to save a review customer service. read more

On January 8 I ordered 2 chairs, in store, with a projected delivery date of mid March. My credit card was charged on that same day. Since then, the delivery date has moved to mid May, mid July... and now mid September! In these times, i understand delays .. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND TAKING MY CASH FOR OVER 9 MONTHS WHILE THE WORK OUT WHEN, IF EVER, I WILL GET THE CHAIRS. The sofas seem well built and are super comfortable. I was really regretting a fabric choice I had made and the manager helped me pick out and change a few days after my purchase. I really appreciate her help when making such a big purchase! A male employee finished the purchase and called me later that day, also friendly and helpful. All I wanted was a plant stand. I knew exactly which one. The website said they had them in stock. When I asked the sales person for help locating it, she walked around the store looking and then brought out 3 from the back which were not even close to the picture from their website (with the item number) that I showed her. She called the manager who was rude and acted like it was my fault. These 2 genius' together could not figure it out how to find a plant stand! I finally gave up. I need better customer service to give more stars but the quality is as expected for the price. In short, we made a large order with the sales rep in the store. She ordered seat cushions in different colors but they were all supposed to be one color; customer service and the sales rep were confused about why I wanted to return the clashing colors and my options were to pay for return shipping or to personally return the wrong seat cushions. We received our order over multiple deliveries, which is too long and there are few delivery days available. I have to block off an entire day until three days before delivery, then call them for the window because they didn't call me like they are supposed to. The delivery window is non-negotiable. This is really inconvenient for multiple deliveries. They do a great job of incessantly reminding me that I can add onto the orders. Hard pass. read more

I love the selection and quality of the kitchen and barware that Crate & Barrel carries. They also have really nice patio furniture. I went in this evening to look at patio furniture first hand, before I made a decision on what to buy. After scoping the furniture out, I ended up buying some espresso cups and saucers, a salad spinner, Peppermill, and some other odds and ends. My one complaint is that so much of the stuff is made in China. I'd be willing to pay a little more to get quality products made in the USA - or maybe anyplace but China. I haven't received an e-mail or call. Perhaps, that is their strategy respond to a negative review by saying they are sorry and please contact them. They have done nothing. Don't shop there.
