When we began the tour, in the Deschutes Brewery Restaurant, Theresa filled us with Beer 101 knowledge and even one of the Deschutes Brewmasters came out for a Q & A session. He answered all questions, no matter how mundane or stupid they may have been. While we were walking to our next destination, Theresa filled our time with PDX Historical facts, that most people may know or not and by the time we reached our final destination, Rogue Brewery, everyone was already feeling jolly & talking loud, she patiently let all parties be themselves and enjoy the moment. This walking tour takes you to three (3) Brewery Restaurant Pubs, 1) Deschutes Brewery 2) Pints Brewing and 3) Rogue Brewing. This tour is an easy walk through the Pearl and Old Town districts with no hills etc. Additonally, you may even be able to make new friends, just like us...We stayed at Rogue Brewery long after the tour ended and became real good friends with this other couple from Winnipeg Canada, who was on the tour also, whom we traded email addresses with. I definitely recommend this tour for any beer lover, whether a novice or expert, in craft beers...you will definitely appreciate the depth and understand why Portland and the Pacific Northwest in general, is the mecca for the Craft Beer Industry.

Probably because our guide, Christopher, was AMAZING! I cannot rave about him enough! He took us around Portland and showed us the different areas. His energy and personality was so great, he really made the tour as much fun as possible. He even let us have a pit stop to Blue Star Donuts, which was a nice little break! The Segways were super easy to use and Christopher was a great teacher and made sure everyone felt comfortable at all times. I was very nervous at first but after a couple of turns I felt like a pro! (Kind of, I may have let out mini screams coming off of the sidewalks lol). We had a fairly small group, there was about 7 of us. I highly recommend this excursion and if you can book with Christopher, you won't regret it!!! Pro tip: PLEASE TIP YOUR TOUR GUIDE!!!! Bring some cash and make it rain! He took us out to the Gorge along the old highway beginning in Troutdale at the old general store. It being a weekend, he took us on several beautiful hikes and showed us some falls that were not crowded like Multonomah Falls, but just as majestic. We got there a little early and saw that there was also paper waivers you could sign if you hadn't gotten to the electronic one. We left promptly on time, so get there early! The tour went really smoothly, just remember: *Be respectful to your tour guide *Don't weirdly interrupt with side jokes *Don't talk to the people within your group while the guide is talking *For the love of all that is holy, stop fidgeting when the tour guide is talking. *It is insanely annoying and ultimately so rude. There are low spaces, very dark/low visibility areas, uneven floors, steep and narrow stairs and low hanging pipes. If you can't maneuver regular stairs, this tour isn't for you. Our guide's name was Skippy- I believe, they were great! The group I was with had done this tour 5 times already and they said this tour guide was the best one yet. At the end of the tour there is a tip jar that you can tip your guide or they provide their Venmo as well. IDs are checked at the beginning of the tour only for the people who plan to partake in the beer tasting that is at the tail end of the tour (not in the restuarant). After the tour I got the non-alcoholic option and ordered a mango flavored Italian soda with cream, which was incredible!!

Jeff is very knowledgeable about the history of the Barracks and the ghost stories. Jeff's books are another great way to continue the stories for those who love paranormal experiences. His research is to be admired. As someone who appreciates the history as well as the ghost stories I appreciate the depth of Jeff's research. We enjoyed the Barracks tour so much we took the Ft. Vancouver military cemetery tour the next day. A beautifully kept space with some very interesting residents.
