As a COVID RN, I am utterly disappointed that in the middle of another surge there were so many people inside of this space with no masks. As healthcare workers are left desperate and exhausted with no reinforcements coming, the entire country is looking for help, the one thing you should be doing is helping your community. I went to this store yesterday and was shocked to see NONE OF THE EMPLOYEES WEARING MASKS!. Again, as many have pointed out before me, it is a city mandate to do so. I'm very disappointed that they are using a health and safety mandate to make some kind of political statement. I still can't figure out the purpose of this. Protesting the government at your place of business seems to only serve to alienate customers. In retail, that can't be a good business strategy. I have bought numerous pieces over the years and had every intention of giving them my repeat business...until now. So congratulations, Potato Barn, I will be voting with my dollars and taking my money elsewhere. Two days ago my husband and I went into one of our favorite stores, Potato Barn, located in Scottsdale, Arizona. We donned our masks and entered the store, pretty sure we'd find exactly what we were looking for and prepared to make a purchase. If you've never been to Potato Barn, it's an enormous furniture store. We are returning customers and have referred many other friends over the years. Within moments of our arrival we saw other patrons, NOT wearing masks. We also noticed that NOT A SINGLE ONE of the employees were wearing masks, either. Let me remind anyone who has recently been traveling outside of this galaxy or hiding under a rock, that not only are masks required by the City of Scottsdale, but also by the County. Couple that with the fact that we, in Arizona, have the dubious honor of being a COVID hotspot in the U.S. and you can see the problem... After assessing the situation in the store, we left. We made the decision NOT to make a purchase at Potato Barn because we didn't feel comfortable shopping there if protecting the health of their customers was of so little value or importance to them. Later that day I called and spoke with a staff member. When I expressed my concern over what I took to be their philosophy on wearing masks, she told me "it was a very gray area" and they didn't know how important the mandate was or if it truly applied to them. WHAT?!?!? She also shared that a police officer had been in the store in the last week and HE didn't say anything to them... Evidently, that was taken by them as an endorsement of their decision not to mask-up. She said they are happy to put them on if a customer requests they do so... Apparently it's up to the customer to ask them to adhere to the law of the land and to protect the public (and themselves) by complying with the city/county mandate. Hmmmm... I told her that as a result of their lack of concern for the protection of the public, we had decided we'd leave the store without making a purchase. Today, my husband decided he would contact the store himself and let them know of his concerns. He asked to speak to the manager and was connected to a man identifying himself as such. Reiterating the story of our visit two days prior, my husband was told they had determined among themselves, that it was their "constitutional right" to NOT wear masks. He also repeated the story of the police officer's visit to my husband and that they took that to make no-mask wearing permissible. Okay. It would be helpful if the public had access to a list of businesses that have decided to thumb their noses at the law. If they don't care enough about the health of their patrons, we will take our business elsewhere! Voting with your pocketbook is a powerful tool at any time and especially now, when we are hearing from physicians and scientists that the wearing of masks is the most effective way we have to protect ourselves (along with social-distancing!) when out in public. To anyone who is serious about being part of the solution, being respectful and considerate of others and their well-being and doing everything they can, to be a team player and good citizen, I'd recommend staying away from Potato Barn (and any other non-compliant business) until they recognize that how you treat your patrons matters. read more

I love going into the potato barn except... The staff is very very rude not one person ask if you need any help and the ladies sit up front chatting with each other and totally ignore the customer trying to pay for purchases. It's a shame because the stuff they bring is Fantastic . If I owned the business I would hire people who want to work and not act like your putting them out by wanting to make a purchase. DO NOT SHOP AT POTATO BARN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! Greg Bongiorno owns The Potato Barn(s) as Greg states in his comments many times "it's a family owned business" for the purpose of this review I include his son Mike Bongiorno. These two people are the most unethical and dishonest business owners I've ever dealt with as a 47 year resident of Phoenix. Their furniture may look good at first blush, but it is of moderate to poor quality and they lie about their "store credit". Let's get to the facts. My wife and I recently bought over $5,000 of furniture from their Scottsdale location for our new home. Mike helped us select our furniture based on our needs and his expertise. We told him we wanted high quality and he guaranteed us that if we had any problems with our purchases he would personally "take care of us". We then hired their in-store Interior Designer who came to our house on 10/28/2019. She stated Mike should not have sold us the furniture we bought, because one piece was "industrial" and that did not go with our home, which Mike had viewed prior to our purchase, but we relied on his expertise. The Designer also stated that the bench we purchased was not the right scale, and the chairs went with nothing. We then wrote a check to the Designer for $125 "consulting fee". She told us to call Mike, tell him the furniture has never been used (witnessed by the Designer) and have him return it to the store for a "store credit" which is not uncommon and per Greg Bongiorno's remarks in his own words he wrote to Matthew S. on 11/25 "... We do offer store credit, if you would like to speak to us about store credit please call the store directly with your invoice number and we can better assist you". So, I called Mike the next business and asked him to give us store credit, he gets to keep our funds, his new furniture gets returned to the store and that was an equitable arrangement. Mike stated he could not accommodate our needs, and refused to take back ,brand new furniture, that we had no use for based on his recommendations and after seeing pictures of our new house. This is the kicker...According to Mike, his dad Greg said "do not offer Epstein" a store credit or any other accommodations. Mike sold us a bunch of furniture for his own financial gain while throwing us under the bus. I asked him why, and he stated that when I was in their Mesa store and tripped over a piece of steel that was protruding from a room divider and fell and hurt my shoulder, they did not want anything to do with me for fear of being "sued" - in Mike's words. I never once threatened to sue anyone (albeit I believe I had cause) and my shoulder still hurts. Now, here we are weeks down the road with all their "new" furniture in our house that we have no use for, The Potato Barn and Owner Greg Bongiorno will not give us store credit. They are disgusting and ugly people to do business with, they took our hard earned money and in return did not live up to their end of the agreement. There's too many other reputable furniture stores in Arizona to do business with you don't need The Potato Barn. read more

I'm torn because I love the pieces they have here (when they actually mark them down). Furniture is strong and made out of traditional materials (real leather, fabric, wood frames, etc). However, their hours are not accessible to the average person who works until 5 on the weekdays, and being open only on Saturday's is also extremely difficult. I know I'm not the first person to have this complaint. Their floor staff also have a standard "new gen" Scottsdale vibe to them, great smiles, but the sincerity is questionable. BUYER BEWARE! I'll start with we love the furniture we bought from Potato Barn. Super happy with that. However they arranged a delivery company (JUST DELIVERY AZ) to bring it to our home. During the delivery the very polite movers damaged the home. When I called Potato Barn they said its a third party company so they cant help. Keep in mind the delivery truck is wrapped in POTATO BARN advertising. Mike and PB Owner doesn't do anything to protect his customers as he doesn't have a copy of his carriers insurance, bond or authority. So basically your items are being moved at risk. When I called Alan the owner of JUST DELIVERY AZ he refused to take any accountability justifying his case by saying "My guys have worked for me for 10 years and I believe them". Since, he has refused to provide me with a copy of his insurance, bond or authority. Alan told me at one point he doesn't have any insurance on damaging someone's home, and at another time he said he did but wont send me a copy because I want to file a claim. Alan said "If I just paid people every time there damage to a home I would be out of business". That in itself was a warning. So here we are a week later and Mike from PB wont do anything and Alan refuses to respond to me. If you buy anything from PB just buckle up, because once they get your money (and their no return policy) you are a third class citizen to them. read more

They have a lot of interesting pieces. However, all their sales are final, no returns or exchanges. Thought their prices were high also. Disappointed to find out that their furniture is not delivered or set up. They contract with commercial carriers and once it leaves their dock, it's no longer their responsibility. I don't find it to be friendly or helpful. Thankfully I had someone take me the first time and helped me see what I could use for my new home. I recently moved to Scottsdale; bought a 4 bdr home with separate casita. Lots to furnish! Because of the reviews on Yelp, I thought I'd better call and ask if their staff and guests are wearing masks. The guy that answered the phone said No. Which is a shame. I was looking forward to shopping there. Saw some fun pieces on Instagram. I believe wearing a mask is literally the least we could do these days. All these doctors and nurses that are being overworked are begging us to wear one. It would be selfish at this point not to. I really am starting to think that the employees are NOT ALLOWED to wear masks. How likely is it that not one employee would decide to wear a mask at any time? The person in charge must think that COVID-19 is a hoax. Not only is this recklessly ignorant, but it's a poor business decision. Extremely disappointed with the approach this company has taken to help remediate the spread of Covid. None of the employees wore masks. This was one of my favorite furniture places to visit and have purchased many items from here in the past. I walked in wearing a mask to protect others and was not afforded the same respect. It is a choice for all businesses to practice safe protocols to keep their employees and their customers safe. They chose not too. Customers also have choices and mine has been made to not support this business. Avoid this store as the employees seem to avoid helping you.
