The sandwich made its way through the line, I picked my toppings and away I went. Easy peasy! The turkey avocado is a great option if you are seeking one. It was supposed to be a simple turkey Swiss on white bread. Off the bat I could tell it was wrong since it was wheat bread. Unclear what I was given, but hungry, I tried to eat it. It had maybe one slice of turkey, some weird spicy sauce and some chunky white stuff that may have been cheese but really not sure (see pic). We are super pleased to have a Potbelly's in our neighborhood and have been waiting (kind of) patiently for this store to open. We finally made it over there tonight. For those not familiar with the chain, they serve really yummy sandwiches on hot toasted bread. They are delicious. There are also a number of other options like salads, but really, the sandwich is where it's at. My personal favorite is the Italian. The store is small, only 63 seats according to the occupancy sign near the front door. But it's definitely a Potbelly's, decorated with all the fun colors and wall hangings that are typical. When you order at Potbelly's you walk to the far end of the counter and place your sandwich order (options you have to specify are white or wheat bread and regular or Big size -- go Big!). Then you slide down kind of a la Subway and the next person takes your order for toppings on your sandwiches. Pay at the end. The milkshakes are really yummy too and only like $3. Food-wise we really thought the quality of our sandwiches was better than even most other Potbelly's stores. The sandwich was perfectly warm, toasty and had just the right amount of mayo and oil. Really yummy. We did feel like the service was a little slow but are chalking it up to the store being brand new and customers not really knowing the system yet. I'm sure we'll be back soon. I wish there was a Pot Belly in my neighborhood- I think their sandwiches are much higher quality than the Subways and JJ's of the world. I had a roast beef the last time I was there and the meat was super tender; the whole sandwich was warm, crispy and full of flavor. I also had a cup of broccoli-cheese soup that was good, but not quite as good as the sammy. I think the prices are very reasonable for the quality. I think I can count on one hand how many times I've been to Potbelly, and every time I wonder why I don't go there more often. In my opinion, this is much better than Subway, Quiznos and Jimmy John's. For one, I like that you have a choice of a 9" as often 6" seems too small and 12" too big. While the fact that they toast their bread isn't really all that different from the others anymore, I do believe the quality of ingredients, especially the cheeses, is higher than the ones I mentioned above. I am so conflicted about this location. I really like the food. We have a few sandwich places around, and Potbelly has creative sandwiches and really good salads. But what is the trick to getting the food at the time it is promised? I have never had to wait less than 9 minutes past what time my web order was supposed to be ready, and it's NOT because they are busy! It's because the staff don't know how to prioritize. I have watched people walk in the restaurant, place orders, pay and walk out with their food WHILE my bag of food sits on the counter. No one has the brains to think "OH, there is someone waiting by the pick up area; MAYBE WE SHOULD BRING THEM THIS ORDER." If I can plan and order ahead and pay already, I take priority, NOT the folks who walk in off the street. I shouldn't have to ask for my order! However, that doesn't make it a destination, especially since there's a Brueggers and a Smash Burger just a few doors down, and a Jimmy John's and a Which Wich across the Avenue. The 2 of us gave it a $16 whirl and were not sufficiently charmed by the replica antique potbelly stove to divert us in the future from Smash or Brueggers, or stop us from making the suicidal dash across the Avenue to Jimmy Johns. The dominant flavoring here is salt. The service is nice. The student patrons are fun. I prefer the quality coming from my corporate cafeteria. I recently sent my boyfriend in to purchase me the same sandwich and salad combo I always get when I go in myself.... First of the guy was rude (I was on the phone for questions if needed, quiet as well) MIND YOU I GO IN HERE LIKE 3 TIMES A WEEK FOR THE SAME ORDER MYSLEF.... my boyfriend read from the text I sent clearly and an employee rudely stopped him and said they don't add something I LITERALLY add every time I'm in there (hot peppers) So he said can he put it on the side, the guy said it'll cost which was fine but still proceeded to just throw the sandwich together where he could have just put it on the sandwich and save on supplies. Then the salad.... I'm vegan so I ordered the Uptown without the cheese on it but the chicken on the side ( my dog enjoys the chicken breast) once again this is a meal I ALWAYS GET!!
