For the history nerds, there are two bowling alleys on The White House campus. The one this refers…read moreto is the Truman Bowling Alley. It was once inside the actual White House, but was moved to the Old Executive Office Building in 1955. (The original room that housed it is now the Situation Room.) There is still a bowling alley inside the actual White House, but that was built as a single-lane bowling alley in the 1970s under the Nixon Administration. The Nixon Bowling Alley isn't accessible to more White House staff, but the Truman Bowling Alley is! If you get the coveted invitation to the Truman Bowling Alley, go! Like all White House visits, you'll need to fill out a form beforehand that will get you past two security areas. (The second is like going through airport security.) The Truman Bowling Alley is in the basement of the Old Executive Office Building with clearly marked signs. Once in the basement, you'll walk through a no-frills hallway that feels more like a Cold War-era bunker. Step inside the bowling alley into a small kitchenette area with a display telling the Truman Bowling Alley's history. There's a wall of shoes for bowlers with a spray bottle to disinfect the shoes before putting them back. The back room is where you'll find two bowling lanes with one area with all kinds of balls and two electronic boards to input each bowlers' names and for keeping score. There are TV screens on the wall nearby that call out spares, strikes, etc. You can even take a photo of your group from the screen that is projected onto the TV screen. The room has photos of U.S. Presidents and guests bowling throughout the decades and a few seats along the side. The space is pretty tight. The lanes themselves come with pins attached to strings. It's a nice, fun, and special bowling alley. If you get invited, more meetings to go!

Honestly, it's a good spot to host anything from a friend's hangout to a large party. However, I have qualms about coming here again. The work event was a pickleball tournament. Although the space itself is clean, it gets so hot indoors - regardless what activity that you do. Furthermore, we got food catered, and it wasn't the best quality. Although you don't come here for food and drinks, I would recommend other places for that. If you can deal with the heat indoors and want to do a fun activity in DC, I would recommend going here.

I overheard him speaking to one of the favorite and well known skate instructors with a nasty tone. During this same visit he got snappy with me as well. MUST'VE WOKE UP ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE BED. I heard many complaints about how he runs out on the rink floor policing in an aggressive manner. He also has passed this behavior on to his Saturday afternoon skate guard. Customer service everything these days. Skating is supposed to be a therapeutic and safe place. I've tried many times over the last few months to visit this place but I do believe this is my last visit. I'd rather drive to Laurel and be treated with respect.

In addition, the establishment had brand new modern furniture with cabanas and day beds. We had a nice view of the sunset Service: the service was 5 stars! Our waitress, Anaiah, was super friendly and helpful. She had a big smile on her face the whole time. She made sure we were taken good care of. Also, a shoutout to Ty for charging my phone. He offered to charge my phone as the battery was running low and he did it without a frown. Food: please keep in mind that you're eating at a rooftop pool not the Ritz Carlton. The food was pretty good considering where we were dining. I got the chicken avocado sandwich and my boyfriend got the hamburger. The burger and chicken were cooked well. The fries were crispy and delicious. I personally thought the food was priced fairly. We decided to order a bottle of rose so I can't speak for their drinks. But for four orders of food and one bottle of rose we ended up spending around $30pp (4 people total) not bad! My boyfriend and I ended up staying till around 8pm. From the start, it was rough. First off, the pro shop is pretty sad. Just an empty room with some shirts and balls - nothing else. The staff was not very friendly and had no suggestions/directions for it being my first time. In fact, I only saw one guy who worked there the entire day. No bartender, no maintenance crew, no starter. A $70 tee time is criminal for these conditions. Extremely overgrown tee boxes, terrible fairways, and very beat up slow greens. I highly recommend finding ANY OTHER course in the area before considering playing here. Hole 5 had 2 different lakes (giant puddles that cannot be drained) in the middle of the fairway - making the hole unplayable. The design of the course is also very funky. A lot of blind doglegs off the tee and elevated greens that are hard to hit. I guess one of the only positives of the course was the Pace of Play. Seemingly because no one wants to play here, we played quickly and uninterrupted. NO cart girl, and the service at the bar was terrible. I waited 15 minutes at the bar for no one to help me, ended up buying drinks at the pro shop. I highly recommend looking at other places nearby, especially considering the outrageous price they are asking. I would have a hard time paying

Exiting is where there was no direction and people were kind of going every which way. However, be prepared to wait in long lines at the light onto Brinkley Rd We got passes for the Adult session on a Sunday evening. This worked out best because the Sun was going down during our 3 hour visit. Youll see children leaving from the session before , but they will all have vacated the park by the time adult sessions start. Adults are 16+ Quite a few LARGE bounce houses, shading under tents, with chairs and tables to use. Port a potties. Food trucks on site. Free places to leave your shoes and belongings if desired. Otherwise, you can take your shoes off and leave them in front of the bouncy houses. They sold water for $2 a bottle Bring your own water bottles. Wear socks with grips if you have them. Youll be taking your shoewear off often so I recommend wearing sandals that slip on/off or crocs. Bring a towel to for sweat You will get sweaty lol. All of the staff were wonderful, friendly and fun! We did the last BIG BOUNCE house entry at 830p. The Fields at RFK may be the city's best playground/play area. Here's why:…read more 1) Playground: The ground is bouncy making it safer for kids and the equipment is slightly more advanced to help children develop confidence. There are mounds to climb, a three story slide, swings, etc. There's equipment for older kids and young kids like my 2-year-old daughter. 2) Fields: Nearby are several fields often used for soccer. My daughter loves watching people play soccer offering more entertainment. 3) View: Kids love that the Metro soars by nearby above ground and adults find it cool too! 4) Facilities: There are trash cans around, a party pavilion with outlets, and nice bathrooms with plenty of drinking water. 5) Kingman Island: Nearby is the entrance to Kingman Island, a man-made island in the Anacostia River with canoes, over 100 resident and migratory birds, and wooden bridges. We're averaging two trips a day here on the weekends. It's such a great area for families!

As I am always looking for a new playground during these times, I was aware of the fields at RFK…read moreand decided to finally check it on this past Wednesday. We arrived slightly after 2pm and there were more people there than I thought would be there. I quickly realized about half of those kids were a childcare group. Considering the overall playground area, this is definitely one of the best in not only DC but in the DMV area. It reminds me of the greatest hits of some of our favorite parks in NOVA: Fort Barnard, Mosaic Park, and Quincy Park (all in Arlington and worth visiting). My son loved the sports theme and naming the different balls. There are multiple slides: a roller slide, a small slide, medium slide, and a large tube slide. There are lots of "mountains " with and without rocks, bridges to climb, and various musical components. There's a two story merry-go-round, a couple one level ones, and multiple styles of swings. A separate part of the fields at RFK are the fields themselves. We spent some time on one kicking a soccer ball and throwing a football. There were no formal things going on except for what looked to be some organized kid movement class. A couple people practicing, another few just wrestling , and a few more walking. Of particular note, parking is readily available and the bathrooms are open. They have a changing room bathroom too. It only took about 20 minutes to get here, which is similar to some of the nicer parks in North Arlington, so I'd come here again for sure!
