Forgot to take pictures of the pickleball courts, but came here for a work event. It's a good-sized venue where you can find pickleball courts, a skating rink, and more. Honestly, it's a good spot to host anything from a friend's hangout to a large party. However, I have qualms about coming here again. The work event was a pickleball tournament. Although the space itself is clean, it gets so hot indoors - regardless what activity that you do. Furthermore, we got food catered, and it wasn't the best quality. Although you don't come here for food and drinks, I would recommend other places for that. If you can deal with the heat indoors and want to do a fun activity in DC, I would recommend going here. read more

This center was super fun for my entire family and several of our friends also came along. We came mainly for my three young nieces and nephews, and it made for an awesome Sunday. The roller skated for a good three hours, while the rest of us watched. I did see a couple of groups playing racquetball and it looked cool. Actually racquetball would be an activity I wouldn't mind getting involved with. We all split Bud Light and Michelob Ultra, and of course bottled water for the kids. After about an hour into the activities, we all split two large cheese pizzas and they were pretty decent. The place wasn't that busy but more people started to show up after 2pm. Took my kids to rollerskate for the 4:30 to 6:30 PM session to blow off some steam before dinner. Terrible rink, doesn't seem family friendly, walked into lord knows what trying to take my 4 year old to pee (weed smoke, a woman dressed for a much more adult experience at 5:30pm).... I turned around and walked right out of there without investigating further. The vibes were off in that bathroom, I can tell you that much. They seemed alarmed that I was trying to come in there at all let alone with a four-year-old, even though the bathroom was a public bathroom.... I don't know how this place can call itself a roller skating rink with that horrible floor. The skates were plastic and awful. I really feel ripped off and extremely disappointed. The chairs were disgusting. I washed all of our clothes and coats as soon as we got home. I will never be returning. Such wasted money. In addition there was a DJ playing music and it was so loud. My kids were extremely overstimulated and just yelling by the time we left, then complained of headaches on the car ride home. read more

Went here for the first time to try the roller skating rink. And all I can say is that this place is just "average." I love the concept, and this seems like a great place for an extreme beginner (like me) to practice because it wasn't very crowded when I went at 5:30 pm on a weekday. But there were so many things that I also didn't like about the place. First, the rental skates are DIRTY and DUSTY and DOWNRIGHT disgusting. They do not seem to be properly cleaned or maintained, and I don't think they are even sanitized between users. They only come in derby style (with the completely flat sole, without a little heel), and I also found them to run very narrow. (And I have a regular width foot in the most common women's size. So I'm not hard to fit!) I spent almost 30 minutes of my 2-hour reservation simply trying to find a pair that didn't hurt my feet and with wheels that rolled properly. The shoes themselves are super filthy and dusty with disintegrating shoelaces, and when you go to put them on, the wheels are covered in so much dirt and hair and they get your pants dirty just touching them. Second, it is difficult to watch your things while you're skating. There are no lockers or secure areas to place your things. Rather just outside the rink there is a long built-in bench you can sit on to put on your skates, with rows of open cubby holes above it for you to store your things. But the entire area is facing out -- away from the rink and toward the rest of the building. That means it wouldn't be safe for you to leave a purse there unattended, nor would it be wise to leave your water bottle either. Although I felt fine storing my jacket and shoes there, I had to carry the rest of my stuff with me (and I placed my water bottle on the inside ledge so I could try to keep an eye on it). The whole thing seems poorly designed for adult users. Plus it was dirty -- with chewed balls of gum littering the area and even random press-on fingernails in the cubbies. Third, the handful of "cabana" seating areas that are around the rink seem so beat-up and dilapidated. All the pillows are dirty and deflated. The wicker is beat-up. Everything about the place just seem unkempt and uncared for. Whoever owns this place ought to be ashamed! There is no reason for it to be this bad. Fourth, the rink itself is ok. It's not a shiny floor like you might remember from childhood, but rather a slightly soft black snap-together floor. It was perfectly fine for skating though. There is no "rail" surrounding the rink though. If you find that you need to try to break a fall/come to a stop, there is almost nothing but smooth wall. (There was some kind of light fixture plate jutting out from the wall--screws and all--near the emergency exist when I was there. It was a definite safety hazard, and I don't think the establishment even cares. Fifth, there does seem to be a food stand and restrooms nearby. But I didn't use either of those, so I can't speak to the quality, cleanliness, etc. of any of it. Sixth, there is a decent parking lot out front. But it doesn't belong to Kraken. You have to pay a separate company to park out front (electronically, kind of like using ParkMobile). So that sucks. This place should at least validate your parking for a set amount of time. Seventh, the bulk of the building is devoted to pickleball. There are several courts all over, while the skating rink is in the very back. When I first arrived, there was hardly anyone playing. But as the night progressed, the pickle ball courts all got lots of us with multiple crowds. Because the backs of the cabanas are super close to pickle ball courts, it would seem prudent to me to put mesh along the back of the cabanas, so that there's no chance of an errant pickle ball flying into the cabana and hitting someone -- let alone flying onto the court and hitting an unsuspecting skater. It seems like this would be a no-brainer from the establishment's perspective, but it hasn't been done. So all of these things made for a mediocre experience. Now what were the good things, you ask? Well, I think if you can bring your own skates, then it's nice to have a place where you can safely practice in NW DC (and without having to go all the way to the Anacostia skate park). But other than that, there's not too much more I can say. If this place were in an inconvenient location, then these 3 stars would fall all the way down to 1 star. read more

Great for kids parties as well, because you can reserve space and even bring in your own food. I'm not sure why a Kraken is used here but maybe because they are multi-armed and because at this location there are many activities -- pickleball, ping pong, axe throwing, cornhole, drinking....not sure how a kraken will do at roller skating but that can be done here too. This is a very large space but arrrgh matey it is a little sad when empty. We rented a pickleball court for an hour -- $40/hr, paddles and balls are extra. Cabanas are $75 -- the seat cushions are thin and seats are hard -- but if you have a larger group it might be worth it. The one thing is that the courts are smooth/slippery so make sure you have proper shoes. We were visiting from out of town so we didn't have shoes/pickleball gear. Also, no food is available -- just chips and drinks -- although they are ok with you bringing food in and there are picnic type tables setup in the middle (Bryant St Market down the street). Not a bad place to spend a few hours...and with some friends it won't be so empty and echoey. Get your friends together- and get Kraken. read more

Walking by many times, my seven-year-old daughter and I finally visited for a birthday party of a classmate. Easily parking in the lot out front (it's paid parking), we walked into the building that used to be Big Lots. Since it was for a birthday party, we walked in and found our little area to skate. Our friends said they booked the skating spot for two hours, which included free skate, rentals, pizza, and soda. They were allowed to bring their own dessert. My daughter brought her own skates, which was allowed. The space is one large open room with areas for ping pong, pickle ball and more. The store used to be Foreman Mills. Parking was free then. Now the surrounding parking lots are $4/hour. It is disappointing how free parking keeps getting removed in DC. I don't think the store benefits from the parking fees. If you enjoy pickleball, roller skating, pingpong, darts & shuffleboard, this place is worth checking out. The most reasonably priced activity is roller skating ($10/per person, except 9-11am $8, 7-9pm $12). Skates are $5. Pickleball is $15/hr (before 4pm), $30/hr after 4pm. Pickle Balls are $3/pair. Family and I went there on a Saturday afternoon. It was not crowded at all. The vibe was cool and the price was reasonable. I hadn't been roller skating since high school, so I used the little kid walker ($5.00 each). The staff was super cool. The wings were good. There was not a lot of give in the skates which made turning corners difficult. We did have a frequenter show us a few tricks or two. I would certainly return in the afternoon. Conveniently located near the Rhode Island Ave Metro, the Kraken is also located next to Alamo Drafthouse for a great movie experience, MetroBar which offers one of the best bar experiences, and the Bryant St food market. Kraken is great for parties with plenty of pickleball courts, ping pong and shuffle board, and one of the few (only?) indoor roller skating rinks in DC! They've also got a good selection at the bar, multiple TVs, and other games - jenga, connect 4, darts - to keep you more than occupied. Unprofessional and poorly run -- avoid at all costs. I paid in advance for an 8am pickleball social drop-in at Kraken (Bryant Street) and showed up in the pouring rain, only to be told--upon arrival--that I was the only person who had signed up. No one called, texted, or emailed me beforehand to let me know it was effectively canceled. There's no online system to see how many people are registered, and no communication whatsoever to prevent customers from wasting time and money getting there. The front desk attendant seemed indifferent, offered no immediate apology, and only agreed to issue a refund after I explicitly asked--then said she had to "check with the manager," who was standing right there but apparently couldn't be bothered to speak with me directly. No receipt was provided for the refund, so I can only hope it eventually shows up on my card. Unsurprisingly, nothing was offered to compensate for the time lost or the Uber rides I never would've taken had they shown the basic courtesy of a heads-up. This place is disorganized, inconsiderate, and amateurishly run. Do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else. read more

We had a blast at a 4th grade play date roller skating and playing games! The rink itself is a bit untraditional--there are awesome murals all over the walls and cabanas for rent for parties. Negatives are the skating area is small-ish but it also doesn't have a railing around the whole circumference for folks who are learning. And please add some real food to the menu! When we went a couple weeks ago, there were just pizzas and bagged snacks and some dips. But the whole place has a chill vibe that I love, and no one yells at you for walking in the rink area with shoes to help your kid skate. There are other lawn games throughout the huge space, so the kids enjoyed their own version of corn hole and giant Jenga and giant. Inject Four. We rented a skate cabana for my niece's graduation celebration. It's a good amount of space for the price. Rentals aren't included with the party package which feels like an inconvenient oversight. The pizza was pretty tasty and fed most of our 9 person group. The seats in the cabana are very low and slip and slide. The tables aren't the best for resting drinks on because of the faux wicker material. One of the chairs broke while my nephew was sitting in it. The package is supposed to come with a bottle of champagne but we got 4 small bottles and were told they didn't have cups. My wife spoke to a manager who got some cups for us. All in all the price of the party package isn't bad. The snacks are pretty limited. They don't have any hot food, so you don't get the full roller rink experience. Their menu has a lot of options but most of the items are listed as "sold out". I wish they had candy, hot dogs, ice cream and other traditional roller rink snacks. The bar isn't a full bar. I'm not sure if that will change with time but I'd hope so. They do have premixed canned cocktails and beer. The space for skating is larger than it looks. However, skates are only allowed on the skate floor and a small area where you can put on your skates. You can't go to the bathroom or snack bar with skates on which is annoying. The restrooms are also in the farthest corner from the skate area. I wish they would have taken more care with the skate floor. It has a lot of bumps and lumps. Part of a couple tiles came up during the time I was there. It doesn't make for a smooth skating experience. The associates were friendly. Our server didn't seem to get our requests through the ordering system but would get us what we needed when asked. The music was a fun mix. HOWEVER! They play full unedited versions of songs. I didn't notice but my little niece did. She actually put on headphones while skating. It was 7:30 and we heard full F bombs and WORSE. If It was the 9pm 21+ time I'd understand. There were toddlers there. It was incredibly inappropriate. Definitely would not recommend having a kids party here unless that is addressed. I have been a loyal customer of this establishment, but after today's experience, I will no longer return due to the unprofessional behavior of the General Manager (GM). Today, my friend, who is a member, invited me and our group to play at this facility. However, I was unexpectedly confronted by the GM. As I was walking towards the door, he suddenly ran up to me and another friend, aggressively yelling at us for supposedly talking too loudly--something we were unaware of. He then claimed that today was a private event. If that were the case, why were members and other customers allowed to book the court? I attempted to de-escalate the situation by asking why we needed to argue over this matter. I also reminded him that I have been a loyal customer. His response was shocking--he said, "This is my place. You are not welcome here. You are banned from this facility." I told him that he could check on my records to see how much I have spent here and that I would be reaching out to the owner via email. When I asked for his name, he refused to provide it, so I took a picture of him. Before I left, he reiterated, "YOU ARE BANNED ,ME AND THE OWNER DONT CARE " This behavior is entirely unprofessional and unacceptable. The GM displayed a complete lack of hospitality and service-mindedness. I feel deeply disappointed for both the members and the OWNER of this establishment. If this continues, they will undoubtedly lose many customers, especially from the Asian community. Based on his actions, I believe this GM is discriminatory. Furthermore, two other groups of customers and I were forced to wait outside in extremely cold weather. When I asked him, "Can you not even apologize to us?", he simply continued yelling about how we had spoken too loudly. The only thing good about this place is that it exists. I really value having a place to play pickleball indoors--away from the cold of winter or blistering heat of a DC summer--on courts that are reservable, so you never have to wait. But, but... this place is kind of disgusting. The bathrooms are worn and never clean. People wear roller skates into the bathroom, making the whole situation even more gross. Piles of dust cluster around the posts separating the pickleball courts, making you not want to put anything on the ground. But because each normal court only has about one chair, you don't really have a choice. The price disparity between regular pickleball courts and the pickleball courts with "cabanas" is also ridiculous. Other than the 5% of people who use this place for a birthday party, no one wants to pay 3x the price of a regular court to have a sofa you're not going to sit on because you booked the court to play pickleball, not sit on the sideline. There should really be half as many "cabana" courts and the price disparity should be smaller because they don't really offer anything additional. read more

Came here for the first time for a friend's birthday party. What's hot - Options. There's darts, pickle ball, corn hole, ping pong, and roller skating. Good options. - Skating support. There are skate guards for kids (and even adults). - Rink cleanliness. Our group were there for about 2.5hrs and the entire time we were there, one of their staff continually skated in their rink to clean up things like spills, messes, and keep an eye on things. What's not - Skate rink quality. It's bumpy and not smooth, which makes it more likely to fall. Their floor is more concrete, which is hard and not conducive for when you fall. There are also patches around the rink where the surface is peeling, which also makes the surface less smooth. There is no railing around the entire rink, which means there is less physical support if and when you need it when you skate. - Acoustics. They play music, which contributes to a fun ambiance, but they can play the music very loudly. As such, it's difficult to talk to anyone you're with. - Service. Their logistics are not smooth. Our friends made a reservation for a cabana and were in the cabana when we arrived. After we all got our skates and came back, another group parked themselves in our cabana and told us they also made a reservation and were told by the staff that they were in the right cabana. There's no doubt that both our groups made reservations, but their staff don't appear well-coordinated, because they told 2 different groups the same information. - Food. From what we could tell, there isn't any real food. There appear to be snacks, but that's it. If you have a group of people or party, where you want to entertain, it appears you'll have to bring your own food. - Cost. Our friends made reservations and covered everything, including skates, so I can't personally attest to the cost. Reservations of the cabana is approximately $200, and the quality isn't that great. The seats aren't comfortable and there are no cubbies/space to put away shoes. - Parking. There's no free parking, so be prepared. Over all thoughts are: its a cool concept, has potential, and a bit over priced. I visited the place in summer on a Friday evening between 630pm and 9pm. I was trying out the kids skate session. I was surprised to see very little kids and adults there. There we 3 kids playing in the skating rink and 1 to 2 pickle ball quarts in use. It did no get crowded later. Also the ac was broken. We got drinks from the bar. They had canned beer, wine, and cocktails. The canned long Island was OK, but I did not realize they don't sell liquor. Not what I was expecting for when I saw cocktails online, but ok. It's a family place. I think I spent $20 on a family size pizza and $12 on a canned long Island and $4 canned water. We both spent $50 each for food. The skating was not bad $8-10 per kid and $6 to rent skates. They have public benches which is nice. The cabanas are cute but $150 of 2hrs is a lot. Also, this area is pay to park building. Man businesses must not want regulars now of days. As for the positives, the kids skating is reasonable. We enjoyed the pizza, wings, and salad. The building and restroom are clean. The kids liked the large connect 4 and the employees were really nice. The members of my party said they would only come back if they were hosting a large event. We liked the cabana courts so everyone had someone where to chill and sit when they weren't playing. We purchased a monthly membership about 5 mos ago and everything was fine until the warm weather hit. This place is a giant sweat box and we're told the owners of the building don't care to fix the AC. It's unbearable. If we want to play pickleball in the heat, we have LOTS of outdoor options to do so--and many of them are free. And no, your giant blowers aren't the fix you think they are. Either make your facility what it needs to be, or lose lots of customers. Your choice. read more

We came here on a week night for an outing that included pickleball and skating. Only one person was working the counter, which cut into our reserved time for both experiences. We also had to wait for the snack bar to open. The place is spacious and would be a great location for corporate events, teams, and birthday parties. I hate writing bad reviews but people need to know before they spend a lot of money here. My first inkling that something was amiss at this location is I had a signed contract for a work event for a specific date and a week before the event the coordinator called me and said there was a buyout. It was extremely unprofessional but I barely got an apology. This was for a corporate event I was hosting for important clients. I pressed for a discount when I had to choose a new date but all the coordinator agreed to was adding another cabana for the pickle ball court. It was only a $30 credit for a $2,000 event. Another issue was it is hard to get anyone on the phone. They only want to do business by email, which is a waste of time when you have questions about the menu, set-up, etc. Also, I was hosting the event with another vendor and the coordinator acted like splitting the bill was a huge issue. As far as I know, all that requires is a calculator. Nonetheless, we were all excited to experience this new and unique venue. But they missed the mark. The staff on duty didn't have my updated contract with the bar package so it took 15 minutes out of my event time to show them and get that figured out. As another review noted, there are only bottles and cans for drinks. No cups or ice, which was because they do not have a full kitchen explained the staff. Fortunately, my guests were enjoying pickleball to really notice but the court was only reserved for an hour which was not explained to me during the contract process. I thought it was for the full 3 hours of my event. They were disappointed we had to stop but we moved to the skating area. It kind of feels like an afterthought with such a small space dedicated to roller skating and the place is so massive. The cabanas are cute but it's weird you have to walk directly onto the rink floor to get to the cabanas with people skating by. Seems like a pretty obvious design flaw. All in all, these issues can be worked out if they paid more attention to detail and were more organized. I'd highly recommend checking out the pickleball but not expecting too much for skating. Just avoid dealing with a group event unless you have a lot of patience and money to burn. read more

TLDR; Great concept, poor execution. We decided to try a new rink to celebrate my niece's graduation. Kraken looked fun and different, so we booked an Adult Party Package (that comes with 10 admissions, the cabana, 2 pizzas, and a bottle of champagne) for $295. For the price, they should include skate rental (or adjust the price and include skate rental). Issues: - The skating rink floor is bumpy/uneven - Most food was sold out - The ordering system didn't seem to work and I had to keep asking for my order - Music was completely inappropriate for kids - They don't have cups for drinks - They don't have a bottle of champagne as advertised online; instead you get 4 mini bottles which is inconvenient to share with a group (and leaves you 2ml short of a full bottle) - The columns in the middle of the rink should have barriers around them. We saw a child hit one face first. - No full bar - Bathrooms are on the complete opposite end of the roller rink and you can only wear skates in the rink, so it's super inconvenient to go to the bathroom. The concept is great, and hopefully, once the kinks get worked out, it will provide a better experience for all. All of the issues above can be easily fixed, so fingers crossed that someone is taking note of these reviews. All I know is that I've been to Kraken Axes before, and you would never see these issues there. I hope they aren't giving this location less love because it's not in NW... There is cornhole set up, jinga and other games, darts, ping pong, and tons of pickleball courts...all of which you have to pay for (exept the games, I believe). 21+ after 9pm. read more

(Update May 21) - Kraken charged my card for another month of membership, and still nobody has responded to me after multiple follow ups. No response from ownership in Google, even though they respond to many other comments here. This is entering scam territory, and I cannot emphasize more to stay away from here. Beware of signing up for a membership here. While seemingly a good deal on the outset ($99 monthly membership), you must provide them with 30 days notice for canceling the membership. The real problem is that after confirming that my membership would be canceled, I was still charged after those 30 days, with my membership not getting canceled. After multiple attempts reaching out to them to get refunded, they finally told me that they were working on it. Fast forward another week, and they haven't refunded me or responded to any of my follow ups. Besides this incompetent level of management, this is also not a place for serious pickleball players to play at. With low ceilings, terrible lighting, and slick floors, Kraken has done the bare minimum of installing "pickleball courts". It is a true shame that this is currently the only indoor option in the district. read more

Today has been a very disappointing day for my friends and me. One of my friends, who is a member here, booked a pickleball court for 2 hours from 8 AM to 10 AM. However, the staff arrived an hour late, which meant we only started playing at 9 AM. All of us are business owners, and it's quite difficult to coordinate a day for all of us to play together, especially since we meet only once a week. Each one of us travels for at least an hour. After we played for an hour, a staff member requested us to move to another court, which we did without any issue. At around 10:40 AM, as my friends and I were getting ready to leave, one staff member, who seemed to be the event manager, treated us disrespectfully and rudely. This individual didn't even bother to speak to us politely and seemed to act as though we were less than human. I can't help but wonder if this behavior was racially motivated, perhaps because I am Asian. We asked this person why they were being so rude to us despite having 10 minutes left to play. Additionally, we have been paying for this court and booking it weekly for nearly a year. The staff member responded that they didn't care and harshly suggested we should never come back. They further stated that the owner doesn't care about reviews. I've lived in this country for 20 years, and I have never experienced such a degrading treatment. Individuals who do not value others should not have a position in society. Consequently, my friends and I will not return to this establishment unless we receive an apology. I have tried to tolerate the service here because it is a place for socializing with friends, but what we experienced today has made me feel dehumanized. Finally, if there is a notification that the court is closed or reserved for private events, you should communicate this via email or disable bookings. This way, my friends and I won't waste our time coming here. Upon reviewing the camera footage, you'll see that there were two other groups waiting as well. I usually do not write reviews, but I have attempted to contact Kraken multiple times and as the other reviews state, it is virtually impossible. We hosted our daughter's skate party at Kraken (Bryant Street) and (in alignment with other reviews) it was the most unsatisfactory service we have ever experienced when hosting a birthday party for the following reasons: 1. There was a lack of knowledge and communication between Kraken employees and the customer A) Our experience was as follows: Upon arrival, we checked in and it took about 10 minutes (or longer) for our reservation to be located. Upon locating the reservation, I posed questions about the party package (for example, I asked the employee, who also served as our party host, to confirm how many pizzas were included in the party package and if we could order an additional pizza and bowl of chips). While the employee answered the questions to the best of her abilities, she was not abreast of the offerings (specifically the bowl of chips) of the new party packages. She offered us a cabana (due to the prolonged check-in and mix ups), but I told her the cabana was included in the party package. She directed us to choose one of two cabanas, both of which were filled with people's personal belongings, so we had to choose a different cabana. The employee had no idea the personal belongings were there because she was not put in a position to be able to host, due to the lack of available help at the venue. If she were in a position to actually host, she would have been able to ensure the cabana was ready to receive us. 2. The customer service at Kraken, when hosting a party, was below sub-par. B) During check in, I requested skates for my daughter, who was celebrating her birthday. Again, due to the lack of available help, the employee who was supposed to be serving as our party host, was unable to accommodate us until approximately forty minutes after the original request (which was infringing on our party time and problematic). I explained to the employee that our official party time had began and not only did the guest of honor not have skates, but that invited guest did not have 30 minutes to wait for skates. We were only accommodated because an additional employee walked up and was able to assist. My husband and I ultimately served as the "party host." We had to track down employees to: make sure our guest secured skates, request juice boxes (as we were originally told this was not part of our package, which it was), request utensils, make sure the additional food was on the way, etc,. C) The pizzas came out on time, but upon arrival there was pizza sauce and grease on the plates and napkins that were left to serve with. This was unacceptable. Thankfully, we brought our own plates and napkins and did not have to rely on the venue. D) About thirty minutes after receiving the pizzas, we realized we had not received the bowl of chip that were part of the party package, so I requested the chips. The chips did not arrive until over an hour later, in which the party was over. This was COMPLETELY unacceptable. E) We did not receive a future skate pass, per the party package. F) There were approximately six available skate assist for approximately 20-25 children that were skating (please note, all of the children skating were not with our party). This created an unpleasant situation, as kids who are not well versed in skating missed valuable time on the rink, due to their inability to secure a skate assist. There is an expectation of service when booking an event, especially when payment is due in full, up front and includes gratuity. The bare minimum of services, which were outlined in the party package, were not met during our time at Kraken. read more

I came, albeit, a bit unsure of what to expect. My husband and I came in for a daytime date to skate and skateboard. Quickly learned that we can't skateboard haha. But decided to make the best of it. There was a wonderful lady behind the kiosk named Brit, who offered to store our skateboards behind the desk while we skated around a bit. Overall, for my first time back on skates since I was kid, this space was perfect. Flat even rubber tilings on the floor. Multiple side railing and epic artwork. We had a great time! read more

This place is a great idea but the execution is just okay. The AC was broken so we played pickle ball in a sauna. I sweat more than I've ever sweat playing pickleball, and I chose to go there to escape the heat. The music playlist was not my vibe. All rap. They have buckets of beer but no ice for the buckets. The court was slick because it was humid so multiple people in our party fell which was rather dangerous. The drink menu is less than imaginative with cans only. I booked my daughter's 14th birthday party at Kraken, Bryant Street on July 6th 2025. Wow just WOW! When we arrived we were greeted warmly, shown to our cabana/court and offered the use of the fridge for our birthday cake. Throughout the visit staff were cheerful, helpful, professional and thoughtful. Everyone I encountered understood the customer service assignment. Everything I needed was provided. The kids had immense fun, a perfect spot for eight 14 years olds to play pickleball (yes kids love a sport designed for 55 year olds!) and gossip, eat pizza and just hang out! The facilities are very clean and well cared for. The team who work here are clearly proud of their jobs and the company they represent. I'm impressed and now I'm a fan. The best words to describe my experience in Kraken is - it will do on a rainy day (once). After paying $40 to rent a pickleball court without cabana I had following impressions. 1. Overstimulation Behind me were people moving on the rollerskating ring with music that was too load to communicate with my pickleball players. Next to me it was a group throwing beanie bags and being load. In front of me was a group playing table tennis. On the other side next to me people played pickleball. 2. In sufficient lighting I could not see the bright ball as not all (very high) ceiling lamps worked. One wonders if a lighting consultant was ever consulted about the lighting levels. The large glass entrance incoming light made it even harder to see as the light bounced against shiny smooth floor. Pickleball craze, for me, was about socializing but if you can't hear each other from loud music then the joy is not there. We couldn't move to another empty court because that would have been an up charge for having a cabana. I am glad I experienced it (all negative things I call experiences) and I am not planning to do it again - ever. read more

Weirdest experience I have ever had while playing sports. Signed up for a 9pm blacklight, 21 and older night and we were the only people there. Could not see the pickleball when playing because there was not enough light LOL. Crazy time, not sure if I will go back. read more

Went for a birthday party. The overall options there are fun and the kids had a blast but 1. The air conditioning is broken and it is a sauna in there- needs to get fixed ASAP. 2) They have approx three skating supports for young kids, one of which was broken. They should get more so that the kids dont have to either wait forever or bicker over using them. read more

Love this spot! We went to celebrate a birthday and it was a great place to gather and play pickleball! It was very spacious and the birthday boy fully enjoyed his time. We had a party size of about 20 people and got two cabanas. Maria was so nice and took care of us well! We will come back for another gathering soon enough! read more
