Good paint selection. Had a small mix-up on our paint order and they went above and beyond to make it right.

I've been using them for years with no complaints. Last week, I pointed out that the price they were charging me for a gallon of paint was about 9 dollars more expensive than competitors in town, and asked that they match competitor prices, as I had done several times before. They encouraged me to go elsewhere if I was not happy with the premium price charged. That is what I will do. So long, Potomac Paint. read more

I wish I could give less than 1 star because I am very disappointed in my experience with Potomac Paints. I purchased a gallon of paint here (flat mid grade) and paid $55. When I repurchased this same paint at a store closer to my home I paid $33! I understand that each store can charge what they want for the Benjamin Moore paint but almost double? Wow! Though I did not have a negative experience in the store, this pricing has not made me a Potomac Paint customer in the least. Very disappointed. read more

I've gotten a lot of paint here for my condo, and they've always been really helpful. I always get Benjamin Moore paint and I've come here more times to collect chips to take home and study than I have to get paint. But they are always friendly and get me what I need, and quickly. The one time it wasn't quick, they gave me a little discount for my wait. The paint quality has always been perfect. read more

I had a wonderful experience here from beginning to end. I'm a new homeowner and knew that I wanted to paint my new condo, but I also knew that I was totally out of my depth with trying to figure out how to go about that. I worked with Gabriela as a color consultant and she was AMAZING. She was worth every penny and I cannot recommend her more highly. I was initially a walk-in, and we discussed my budget and vision at first in the store. She immediately gave me ideas and possible color ideas--even just that initial consultation was great and so helpful. Then she visited the new condo and was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and patient when working with me to figure out how to paint the rooms. I had fun working with her! Considering the advice and assistance she gave me, I consider the consulting fee to be a STEAL. When I was purchasing the paint, Rachel was also a pleasure to work with and very thorough to make sure my order was correct. My poor husband got two different samples of grey (gray :) paint that we didn't like - when I went Doug helped me pick out the PERFECT color. He really saved us as the painters started the next day. Would highly recommend this store! read more

Horrible products, awful service Let me start by stating that this place was recommended by my cousin who was happy that "they made good" on Benjamin Moore paint she bought there. Upon opening at home, the BM paint had "curds" in it. At first she was instructed over the phone to stir the paint, but the painter she had hired laughed, and stated he knew bad paint from good. When she went back to the store, they confirmed that the paint was bad; what is more they found out that the whole 5 gal. lot came with curds from the distributor. In the end she received 5 x 1 gal. cans, and recommended the place. Tired of Home Depot, I went. I went on a Sunday, purchased stuff from Luis--and that was the only time the customer service was good. I bought paint, brushes, and ordered custom blend colored caulk. Picked up the caulk when it was ready (48 hrs. later). Tried caulking the next day-caulk was solid as a rock. Would not budge. On the phone, I am told that "I left the top off" or "did not peel the seal prior to caulking". On and on and on....supposedly my fault. My husband went to the store and proved to them that the caulk was solid in the tube, and even the tube they opened at the register was solid!!! Ok, a day of delays-they will mix the caulk for the next day. In the mean time, we bought a new vanity top/sink and needed more custom made caulk (different color). When I called to discuss colors, I am repeatedly told that "I need to bring the sink to the counter". I am explaining that this was not about to happen-the sink is heavy and in the back of my truck, and either someone can come out and look at the sink to look at the color, or I will come to the counter (MINUS the sink) and get some color swatches to match. Again, on and on and on...In the end I hung up, and came in to get some swatches. Ordered the caulk. It has been 10 days today that we did not use the bathroom--waiting for the $28/tube caulk to dry. Finally, upon the first three minute shower...caulk "blisters" and creates bubbles and slides into the bathtub like a colored streamer... Caulk around the sink dried and is already showing cracks--less than a week after the installation. All the surfaces were dried for 72 hrs pior to caulking...The job was done by a professional... The only thing that we can blame is the caulk. I paid for top quality caulk. Not sure what I received in the end. Too many "bad" products for this to be a coincidence. Will NEVER go back; will not recommend to anyone. read more

I went in expecting to be given a hard sell on premium paints, but was pleasantly surprised by the customer service, they are very helpful and patient and answered all of my questions then and there. With all the variations of color swatches and paint products (like brushes and rollers) they have IN STORE, it was really helpful to get everything I needed, they even recommended certain items that would make painting my living room much, much easier! I already had an idea of what I wanted and although I didn't speak to the designer they did offer to help. If I were to need anything else they told me I could call them and they could even help me over the phone with any more questions I might have. Again really friendly service, very informative staff, I would highly recommend coming here for all your paint needs, I know I will DEFINITELY be returning! The quality and quantity that I received from them could not have been matched any better at other "big name" stores... read more

When Omar and Ed left the Company everything went down hill. I'm a contractor and have been for years. The new staff does not care about service and don't have a problem letting the customer know it either. I have had too many runs Ins with the changing of the guards. An exceptional staff with expertise in design and color. After picking colors at a variety of paint stores across Alexandria, I struggled to find a paint color for my living room. After weeks of searching and way too many paint samples on my wall that did not work, I walked into the Potomac Paint store ... a half hour till closing. The consultant took a look at my fabric samples for sofa and curtains, grabbed a few paint chips and helped me through the process of selecting a color. None I would have previously chosen on my own, but all better than the samples currently on my wall. But, the best part...they explained the whole process, undertones in each color and mocked up my living room sofa with a fabric sample. In a period of maybe 15 minutes, the expertise, customer service, and kindness of this store's staff exceeded my expectations and made me a loyal customer. read more
