I went to the Manhattan Beach Pottery Barn looking to buy stuff that they have on the website, I wanted to buy a men robe they didn't have one, I bought a photo frame so I ask for the photo frame box and they didn't have one... Service was very slow and I ended up buying the frame for a Christmas gift without wrapping paper a nice box or anything, they just place it on a paper bag. I'm not coming back. read more

I bought a wool rug here and it was shedding a ton so I returned it. I couldn't figure out how I bought it because I tried ordering it online and ended up buying it in store. Anyway, Rolando was patient and even offered to call me when he figured it out. He ended up finding the order through email and giving me store credit. If I could give Pottery Barn 0 stars I would. Last summer I ordered an outdoor patio table. It took months to receive. When I received it, it was damaged. So I asked they return it and order a new one. The second one also came damaged. It was picked up December 7th and I stated I wanted a refund. Today is January 4th and I have still not received my refund. I have spent hours on the phone . . . you cannot email anyone or chat. You have to wait on hold which today was over an hour. Last week I was promised a check would be written right away. Didn't happen. Today I was never able to speak with a supervisor but was told the check was issued after an hour and 10 minutes of waiting. I am not even able to receive a confirmation that the check has been written. This is $2000.00 Pottery Barn has had since last summer and no table... I am livid and will never order a piece of furniture from them again!!! read more

Very disappointed in Pottery Barn. My home is primarily furnished with furniture, light fixtures, art, nick knacks ..... from PB Having some remolding done and one of the workers broke one of the glass shades on my Veranda chandelier. I went to my local store to BUY a replacement and was told no, they would not sell me a new glass shade!!!! Now what ??? Just an FYI PB Restoration Hardware would have replaced light shade happily. Compared to other PB locations, this place is a dream. They are better stocked, and the service staff has an acceptable balance of knowledge and attitude. Ordering from Pottery Barn is not great, so I try to use alternatives when I can. But sometimes the price and style can't be beat. read more

I hate writing bad reviews but this will have to be the first one Ive ever written. Ive never had such a negative experience with a sales associate! I went in to return an item but didnt realize it was final sale. As soon as I tried to clarify the policy regarding my purchase, she (white woman with frizzy hair and glasses) got really upset and told me she was going to get the manager because "Im not going to argue with you!" At no point did I try to argue or even raise my voice so I was completely taken aback by how unbelievably rude and unfair she was being. She came back without the manager and at least price adjusted the item because it was discounted right after I purchased it, but at no point did she apologize for her behavior. I cant even believe that a sales associate would behave in that way and I definitely will never going back to that PB again. read more

Several times now, whenever I would go to this PB, I would leave feeling like I didn't appear good enough or something (even though I am all about quality and am willing to spend good money on good stuff)... the other day, I had a question for the sales associates, and TWO of them totally waved me off and pretended to be too busy or important to deal with me! I was shocked!! Here I was, trying to buy some overpriced furniture, and they literally waved their hands in the air and walked away! Apparently there was a more important customer that ALL 3 associates had to deal with...seriously? I couldn't believe the way they acted, so I decided to investigate on Yelp, and sure enough, this seems to be a recurring theme. How is it that PB has not seen these reviews and done something about their incredibly unprofessional staff? They're losing a ton of good sales from people like us, for sure. read more

I've always been a frequent customer/shopper of PBK. However, on my recent visit to the Manhattan Village store; Managers were "snooty" and acted as if they are better than the next. How dare I ask for service from someone of their caliber. I was there to return a defective item, while waiting at the register for approximately 4-5 minutes. The managers discussed company related issues and both observed me waiting for service evidenced by mutual eye contact. Not once did they stop their conversation to acknowledge my presence. Both were evening shift employees on 8/11/2014. After a lengthy wait the male manager offered to assist me while maintaining a superior and some what cocky attitude. After completing the transaction, my children ages 11 and 5 were looking for back packs and other PBK merchandise. We were followed throughout the store by the male manager as if we were criminals. I do not plan to patronize this store location again and subject myself or my children to this humiliation. This is not a customer friendly store which I will avoided patronizing in the future. Instead I will shop on-line, where I am treated with respect and dignity by the customer service staff. read more

I have to give this store 5 stars because the folks that work here are very nice, always remember you and are helpful. It's not a perfect store - when they are busy they can use more people. I also had an incident with a crib I ordered here - basically a damaged one came in and they forgot to order me another one. Definitely a screw up on their part but they more than apologized when I called and offered me a discount to compensate for my inconvenience and I didn't even have to ask for it. read more

The customer service in this store is severely lacking. I work nearby and frequently stop as I've just purchased a new home and am decorating. The last two times I've been in sales people ignore me and walk past me. They help others around but I've spent 10+ minutes in the store both times and have not been spoken to. I am in my early 30s so maybe they think I don't have the money to spend but it's their loss. I almost spent hundreds on this trip and decided to just walk out due to customer service alone. Rude sales people. Avoid at all costs! read more

I went into the Manhattan Beach branch to buy four 16-piece plate sets, replace a mug I had broken, and get a replacement for a mug that was broken when purchased. Cassandra would not replace the broken mug without a receipt (which would prove what? That I didn't break it?), so I repurchased it ($8 not worth the argument). I said I'd buy the plates elsewhere. She said fine go ahead. When we were done, I received two snide sarcastic wishes for a happy Christmas from her. I don't think I'll be shopping here again. It's not even full-swing into the holiday season and already the staff is unpleasant and what a mistake over an $8 replacement to lose a $680 sale. read more

I couldn't believe pottery barn could have a low score, I love this place until I came to Manhattan village. I returned a gift from my wedding registry and asked a basic question and was grilled about money laundering. I told him his poor customer service makes me want to delete my whole pottery bar registry and he could care less. Horrible service, bad energy, never going back. read more

Wow, only one review. Ya know, most anyone with a baby, kid, or expecting one browses through here every time they go to the village mall. It's always tempting to buy the whole place, but the prices and quality most times deter me. Don't get me wrong, a lot of products here are great. The furniture could use a better manufacturer though, it feels like I could destroy any of it with a swift kick...I'm a 5'1" petite gal. I agree that the bedding styles change way too fast and I'm sure it makes it difficult for anyone crazy enough to buy this overpriced stuff. I've given in a few times for sale stuff. They are just too cute to resist sometimes. read more

I had to come here as a last minute stop before heading out to a baby shower on a Sunday. It was busier than what I'm use to, but the staff here helped me pick out a gift, wrapped it and I was out the door within 15-20 minutes. It was painless. The manager Romano is very helpful as is Rolando, however there is a serious disconnect between their after-service/ customer service department called Design Studio. If there is a problem with your furniture you have to call them, however it has been next to impossible to get the lady assigned to my order number, to return my call to schedule a cleaning on my sofa, which had dirty finger prints on it on delivery. It is a matter of don't call me, I'll call you. I have called the store many times, gone in in person, and they make calls to customer service for me, promising me that someone will call back within 24 hours. Why can't they just get the person on the phone for me while I am there, or while I am on hold? What kid of way is this to run a business? read more

I am pregnant with my first child. Never in a million years did I ever think I would be in this store so much or become one of those "mother's" that need to match this and that. The anal side truly comes out when your pregnant. My life of Martini's and late night dinner's has now been pushed to the side of a Theme Nursery! Jonathan, one of the sales reps is the best. I show up so much I am greeted with a hug from him. My only complaint with the PBK corp. is that the store at this location is small and some stuff in the store is not on the internet site or in the big catalog. Also, the Theme's are changed like Fashion Week in NYC/LA. Every three months or season....the store will switch up your baby/kid room theme. This is a total bitch to deal with if you are dealing with your baby registry. My hubby and I had to buy up the bumper/quilt and mobile this past weekend. The other theme was discontinued and the one we got was also going out of style. Do have to say my crib is Awesome and so far everything is in a high standards for the deep bucks you pay for baby furniture/ add ons that are just for a short span in a baby/child's life. My crib does turn into a toddler bed :-) So, the draw back is limited locations for PBK in Southern California, the fashion trend of the place always going out of style and some items are VERY pricey. If it were not for Jonathan I would be going crazy with all this baby stuff! read more

Mary came to my house to measure my sliding door so i can order curtains. She seemed very friendly at first.That all ended once I purchased the curtains There were extra charges that I kept calling her and the manager of the store They ignored all my calls and complaints Then Mary offered a free instalation for all the trouble I had but no one ever came. They always say how busy they are and you wait on the phone for 30 minutes I will never shop here again very disappointed, awful customer service We have extra charges and no one came to hang the curtains. read more

My husband and I walked into Pottery Barn wanting to buy a complete new set of dinnerware - 2 sets, really. First of all, there is a very limited dinnerware selection. Lots of lamps, though! But we could've worked with that. What was horrible, though, was the woman behind the counter who talked on the phone for at least 20 minutes in a loud, grating tone as if she were at home. She was helping somebody who was obviously a customer that she had worked with in the past. Totally ignored us. Not even a glance. There was a very nice lady who would have helped us except she had already clocked out and was on her way home. She tried to find someone else to assist us but apparently there was nobody available. (We were wanting to order our dinnerware at the store in order to help the store stay in business instead of ordering online.) We'll be going somewhere else now. I am not high maintenance and I don't expect to be served immediately, but this was ridiculous. And her voice - screaming through the store like she was on her couch gossiping with a friend - so unprofessional! read more

The fact that almost everyone here has had a similar customer service complaint and this company has chosen to do nothing about it is mind-boggling to me. I, too, encountered the rudest most incompetent staff. Specifically, Joan told me she could not return my items. I explained I did not want to pay for return shipping, so I decided to come on my lunch break to exchange the items. She immediately told me to talk to the manger and that she can't return shipping (??) Teddy, the manager, was equally as unhelpful and disengaged. When I explained and told her how rude Joan was, she seemed unfazed and unapologetic. Furthermore, I realized Teddy had only returned one of the two items I left with her. I had to go back and have someone else help me. NEWS FLASH- this whole store needs new management and a competent team. I've been always wanting to have a pottery barn kids nursery and the staff at Pottery Barn Kids in the manhattan village location with their great costumer service made it happen for me. They really worked with me to get all my items with the best prices. They have been very very nice and I experienced the best Costumer service ever. Im finishing up my dream nursery and really enjoying every single piece. I got the Catelina Crib and a mattress from babies R Us And had no problem fitting it in the crib and the sheets are from pottery barn and fit perfectly over the mattress Despite all the reviews. Everything looks very good quality and I hope I feel the same Once I start using them ;) read more

Avoid the Home Design services department like the plague! It took forever to schedule an appointment with them, then the designer never showed up. When I called the store to ask what happened, they put me on hold for two extended periods of time. When the guy finally came back, he said the Manhattan Beach store was too busy and had fobbed off the gig on the Santa Monica store. "They were supposed to call you, but the person who was supposed to call you has been out since Tuesday. They left a note on her desk." What a joke. I can buy a $1000 desk elsewhere. read more

Awful Experience. There is this sale rep there named Teddy who screwed up the replacement order of our cushion covers that got messed up when the couch was delivered. After 4 wrong attempts of getting the right size cushion covers over 3 months time, we gave up on her and her useless "Platinum Team" as she called them. So I put them on hold and drove there all the way at 8pm to be told that's not true and I don't get the 20% off sales items! Potery barn kids has really bad customer service. They hardly have any furniture in their stores and if you decide to order something sight unseen it then takes a month to ship. We ordered some nursery furniture and couldn't get anyone to tell us how long it was going to take to arrive. After 3 or 4 weeks and about 8 calls and a few hrs on hold we arranged for a "white glove delivery" ($200 and the only option) and sadly there were no white gloves. Actually the piece arrived damaged and the delivery persons tracked all sorts of debris and leaves into our house. When we called to see about getting the damaged piece replaced, the store employee hung up on me. Maybe it will get replaced, maybe not. Only time will tell. read more

I've always shopped here, but only recently did I order several large pieces of furniture using the in home design service. I was really happy with the service-- they were extremely accommodating and offered multiple types of discounts. And when there was an issue they fixed it immediately, no problem. Everyone I dealt with was knowledgeable and professional about their products and the order process. I've never noticed any of the workers in there being snotty. Sometime it can be hard to get a salesperson to help you when they're super busy, but nothing major. read more
