I live in San Antonio and had to go to exchange a food processor that did not work, they only had one like it left and it did not work either!!! The box was damaged but they assured me it did not matter. All the people that work there were rude and one cashier did not know how to do an exchange, so they made me wait again for another cashier that was having a conversation with the customer. I love the Pottery Barn Outlet. This store is giant. It is a mega store for all great Pottery Barn product. They have a kid's store, and a teen store, even a West Elm Store...plus Williams-Sonoma is connected. The deals on West Elm will blow your socks off. I got a super cool bed frame and some art work that was super cheap. You can spend hours and hours shopping in the Pottery Barn. They have great deals on sofas and chairs; and all the same types of product that you can find in the regular store. Prices are fair- some are really steals. You need to look around and you can find some amazing deals. I love that I can get the same great towels, and dinnerware and pillows as the regular store but up to 30 to 50% off. I used to LOVE the Pottery Barn outlet store in San Marcos... in fact, I thought it had such great deals I would go roughly once a month to buy for myself and others. It used to be a favorite place for picking up Christmas and birthday gifts for friends and family. Well, over the past couple of years things things have definitely changed for the worst. I don't know if they went under new management or what changed, but you can't find the type of deals you used to find there at all... not even close! In fact, if you pay attention and know your pricing you can actually do a better job buying from the retail stores when things go on sale then making a trip out to San Marcos for the supposed discounted "outlet" pricing. I miss the way it used to be. I've talked with coworkers and neighbors who have noticed the same thing. Not sure if anyone from PB reads these reviews, but if you do.... please go back to the way you used to be. Not sure if this change is actually helping your bottom line or not since almost everyone I know stopped making the trip to San Marcus when they realized they were wasting gas for retail prices. read more

Went in to find a new rocker/chair (baby due in a few weeks). The chair I picked out had the original price written on it, with a sticker of the new price. I asked the man on the floor about the 40% promo they had going. He confirmed that yes it was an additional 40% the marked tag, unless it was some random pieces, but they would be marked "no additional discount". This particular chair did not have that written on it, so I took it up to the register to buy. The lady checking us out again reconfirmed that it was 40% off the new marked price. She rang us up, and again the GM Liz also confirmed everything. After an hour of being in the store and checking out, we were on our way to get a different vehicle to pick up the chair. Here is where I have an issue... as we were half way to our vehicle, walking in the parking lot, the 2 workers chased us down and told us we had to come back because they didn't charge us enough. They said the discount was not for the marked sticker, but the original price. I told them that we had confirmed on 3 different occasions, and the fact that we had already paid and were walking outside to our car, only to be chased down, was some of the worst customer service I had ever received. I have been a long time customer of pottery barn, and unless this situation is rectified by corporate, I will never step foot in a pottery barn again. I would give 0 stars if I could. read more

This place is God's gift to the broke college student. I recently bought a couch from another furniture store and it totally failed me. When I went to the PB outlet I was looking for durability but a price I could afford. I was able to get my DREAM couch for a fraction of the price. I left with the grand sofa in basket weave. I got the couch months ago and it still looks brand new. The people were nice and helpful and the warehouse was organized. Some stuff wasn't a super amazing deal but this couch was. I could never afford a full priced grand couch so this is the way I could get it. It was money well spent and I now have a great couch! I recommend this to everyone. I've never had a problem with it being over crowded. read more

Beware! There is a new NO RETURNS/NO EXCHANGES policy at this store, NO EXCEPTIONS. I have been shopping here for several years and can't even describe how disappointed I am. If you are looking for a bargain DONT COME HERE. The prices are better on sale at the regular stores. For ex: a white silk channel queen quilt was $199 here, at the PB in Austin it was marked down to $159. Pillow covers- same thing. Not a bargain at all. Worse - the lines to check out are ALWAYS long and there are NEVER enough shopping carts so you have to wait for one. its been like this all 3 times I have been here- its annoying. The only thing I like about this place is the WmSonoma kitchen towels and oven mits - I've used them for years and they are THE best and they really are marked down. read more

This place has a few decent things if you can find them amongst the clutter and boxes. Kind of feels like a garage sale in parts of the store. Hectic and borderline hazardous. Lots of damaged stuff so inspect before you buy, and prices make no sense like some broken table missing complete shelves for $455 huh?? What world are they living in? Couch, barstool, and bath sections have some good finds. It's a hit and miss here. read more

The customer service at the San Marcos Pottery Barn is terrible! I was the only person in line to buy 2 small glasses and there were 5 cashiers. I waited 20 minutes to check out and when I got to the cashier, she told me to get back in line and wait to be called, there wasn't a line. She refuse to acknowledge me and walked over to look over the shoulder of the other cashiers. I put the glasses down and walked out. I was treated very unprofessionally and will not shop there again. read more

Really bad service on Labor Day! I asked several people for assistance and was told they were busy. I drove from Austin to look for something and then I tried calling them to be put on hold for over 30 min. Annoying when I'm trying to buy an $800 piece of furniture. My husband and I went here to exchange a gift which had a default. That experience was totally fine, they happily replaced the item. The reason I am giving this two stars is for the following: It was a Friday afternoon and the store was not too busy but the line to check out took super long. I think they had about 3-4 cashiers and perhaps needed to have more in order to not have such a long wait in line. It was longer than I have spent in line at most other outlet stores even during the christmas season. After sorting out the exchange, we went to check out the price of furniture as we had heard you could get some really great deals here. Perhaps that is true when compared with the full price of Pottery Barn items at a regular store. However we found it to be way over priced for furniture in general - especially furniture that may have defects or has been returned. We do not own a single PB item in our brand new house but had purchased many "PB style" items brand new for a fraction of the cost that are simply extremely better quality and fresher style from places such as World Market and various other boutiques. Why am I noting this in my review? So that you do not get ripped off by the PB "brand" - there are other beautiful furniture stores out there that don't rip you off just for their brand name. read more

I could not believe the amount of heavily damaged merchandise in this store. The furniture was all gross, mismatched, and filthy. Went looking for outdoor furniture and there were very few pieces, all damaged and visibly filthy. Picture frames were also all damaged and dirty. I felt like a lot of items were inferior if in mass quantity. Restoration Hardware was even worse. Forget this junk and find what you want at the regular stores and wait for a sale. I am completely turned off Pottery Barn now. read more

I always make this a stop when I travel through town. Yes customer service lacks: they are an outlet and busy. But if I call to get help finding something I find the managers are very helpful. Best purchase: almost bought an Alex full size bed online even though color I wanted out of stock..cost was $1,500 total...called this outlet since I had family driving through town and found the exact bed I wanted in the right color and paid $500 out the door. Tip: sometimes prices online are better deals than outlets, NO return or exchange policy, ALWAYS receive best prices when store has additional discounts (usually holidays). read more

i was so excited to try this place since i love the PBO in dallas. this place is huge! everything you can thing of and with pretty good prices. i saw a sign in the glassware department that said 40% off glassware so i thought GREAT! i needed some wine glasses so i put 16 glass in my cart. i walked around and looked at the furniture even though i'm not needing any furniture. i found a serving dish that i liked and it matched my dinner plates. when i get to the cashier she tells me the wine glasses i picked weren't on sale. really? there's at least 4 signs i passed by that said they were. whatever. i just purchased the dish. what a let down. read more

Even with my lowest expectation for outlet shopping, this place still manages to astound me with its chaos and incompetent staff. The entire store is so disorganized and makes no sense (like why are the pink oven mitts in a completely different area than the black ones?!). Anyways, I went in to return an item I bought the previous week only the reciept was so blurred because they ran out of toner that they were unable to read one of the digits. So the manager says he has to look up the purchase from their database. Ok, what a pain in the butt but I did not have a choice... 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 minutes goes by and I am still waiting. I suggest to the cashier to just try typing in a 0-9 since there was only one digit missing, but she completely ignored me because she was too dumb to understand what I was saying. Finally after 40 minutes, the manager comes out and says the missing digit it "0". I was so pissed that they wasted that much of my time. read more

I drove 2 1/2 hours to purchase the Holstead media console that had been put on hold for me one morning. I arrived, checked the piece of furniture and proceeded to purchase it. I drove the truck around back and waited for about 10mins. I was then asked to come inside to 'look' at the piece I had just purchased... Why would I have to do that if I have already checked?? Well when I walked inside someone had dug a pen into the top of my piece of furniture and drove it across the top and then put ink all over the entire top of it!!! :( I was so furious that people would act that way over a piece of furniture. The manager was nice, but when given the district manager's phone number and offered discounts for the same piece if it ever comes back in. So trying to call the DM's number given, there is no answer, just constant ringing.. I have been trying 4 days in a row now and this is becoming even more infuriating because nothing has been done about this incident. I just cant believe this would happen PERIOD.! read more

I love this store. 400 thread count sheets for 100$, 180$ online. Small desk brand new in the box 104$, original price 300$. Bookshelf for 75$, originally 300$, Isabella chair 70$, had a chip in the leg but online it's 139$. The discounts are deep and often they have specials for up to half off the discounted price. That's where the deals are. I live in San Antonio and will call ahead and ask about specials before I make the hour long drive to the store. I'm redoing my whole house while we live here to take advantage of getting better quality furniture for the same price as the cheap stuff. Yes the staff is stressed even during the slow hours. The store is pretty trashed in the furniture sections. Its best to take your time and walk through everything to find the best deals. It's difficult to get help even during slow hours, it seems like they feel your getting such a discount over the regular store that you should just be happy your there right! Anyway the manager is polite and actually asked me how I was doing but getting help from anyone else is a chore, they should retrain the associates to give service just like the regular store and this place would rock. But whatever. I'll take it because I like the deals. read more
