I've come into this store a few times looking at furniture for a project in my home. I've been lucky in sitting with someone explaining me and showing me different fabrics. Once our room is set up, I'll order the 2 chaises I want. I also want to commend the salesperson who found my husband's brand new Apple Store purchase sitting on the sofa while he was waiting for me. We walked around and were sitting down at Season 52 when I noticed he didn't have his bag!! He went over and the salesperson saw he had left it and gave it back to him. He truly appreciated that!! I purchased a California king box spring which is sold as a set and is two pieces. After waiting 3 weeks one boxspring arrived. Not the complete set just one. I called them to find out when the other one was coming. They told me at first there was only the one piece. So I said I would like to return the box spring since I can't use one box spring for a cal king bed. It's non refundable and I have to pay for it even though I did not receive the whole order. They said they would send another half out but the order was cancelled. Pottery Barn will take your money and not honor your order. Custom curtains take forever, unless you have months or even a year to wait, I suggest getting them elsewhere. I ordered curtains last Fall, I finally got them in staggered deliveries January and February. When I went to install them, 3 of them were the wrong size so I returned them in March and was told the replacements would come in April. Two of the three remaining curtains arrived early May. The 3rd and final one was scheduled for delivery May 19th so I just checked the tracking information and it is now changed to July 11. Who knows if they will even be ready by then. So in the end, it could take close to a year to get custom curtains delivered. This is the last time I order a custom product from Pottery Barn. read more

I wish an attorney would shop there and have the same experience I have. The way the treat people has to be against retail law. They continually tell you a product is available to ship- so you buy the over priced item. When the delivery date approaches you find it was changed and will change again and again as they wait for their poor quality item to arrive from china. They lie over and over. Customer service told me the system doesn't recognize when multiple people place an order so sometimes it changes- hmmm how do tickets sales and Amazon figure out how the pull inventory. They lie they want you to pay - tell you once paid you are unable to cancel and cannot get your money back then they change their agreement. How is it legal to lie about product and delivering a product and still be in business? The store begs you to order there so they can stay open. I agree with other comments they ignore you when you walk in. They treat people different based on who they seem to like. Sales person promised me my chairs would arrive in 4 weeks so I agreed to buy them in store. They changed the date, played dumb and know I have a table with no chairs for 4 months or more - why would I buy chairs 4 months out?!!! All they want is a sale it's like a cell phone carrier pushing over priced furniture. Ps ordered a table dents in it- 2 tables were delivered all worse dents. The staff at this Pottery Barn is friendly and not at all pushy. The store has all the furniture fabrics available in large swatches to get an idea of what they look like on a bigger scale and they also provide small samples for you to take home,which I found to be so helpful. I like the quality of their products as well and found it to be comparable to the cost. The only downside for me was the lack of furniture available in the store to really get a feel of the comfort level that suits your style when you sit or recline. I understand they are remodeling the store and if it's true I hope they put in more furniture and a little less accessories. read more

Mark the manager refused to take back Golden utensils such as forks, etc, that faded and are becoming non gold but silver. When we bought them less than a year ago, the sales person assured us that they are dishwasher safe. We trusted her and never thought to read any instructions specially instructions for utensils ! Not sure this company even deserves one star. Any furniture item returns will you will be charged a 'restocking fee' of anywhere between $12.01-30.01 per item. 4 shelves were returned and I am out about $130. No where is this told by customer service nor on the website that returned items with in the time frame will not be 100% refunded. The website states 'you may be charged for returned item'. This company needs to be clear for their consumer and honest. The items online and in the catalog do not represent what you are purchasing and will receive . Sent my daughter in to do a store pickup. After leaving a 1 star review 2 or so years ago, you'd think these employees would have some sort of training on how to treat their customers. She felt belittled by the employee who gave her an attitude problem like she was bothering them. If you don't like working retail and dealing with customers, then this job isn't for you. Do Not buy from Pottery Barn. Its a shady and fraudulent business. I purchased the leather carmel lounge double chaise counch during black Friday sales. The order was cancelled 12 days later without any explanation while it was still being sold online just at a higher price. Called the customer service, complained to the supervisor and they honored me the price and placed the order with email confirmation. It is cancelled again with no explanation after 13 days. Their current staff need better training. A staff member indicated to us that she would check on something for us and would come back right away. But she never did. When we found her again, she did not even apologize, saying that she was busy with other customers. Why would she indicate that she would help us while just disappearing? At least have the courtesy to say that she did not mean to leave us in the cold. I have always loved Pottery Barn, and tried to utilize the in-home designer option a few years ago, sent photos and was never responded to despite efforts to connect. Nevertheless, since I am always receiving notifications for their gratis in-home designer assistance options, I submitted a request online and thought an appointment had been scheduled. Subsequently I received a call from a representative letting me know they do not have the capability to provide in home design support for bathrooms, vanities, etc, so I would need to come into the store. I let the representative know that I was also interested in purchasing a dining table, chairs, light fixtures, etc, to no avail. The bottom line is no one was going to provide me with any in home service for any in home purchase. Maybe they are so busy more customers aren't needed? Not sure. But what I am certain about is there will not be a third effort to connect on my part with the in-home design option, even if it really exists. read more

That being said, the staff was friendly an helpful and despite the size of the store was well stocked but you did not feel claustrophobic. I went by Pottery Barn in La Jolla and they had a huge sign outside saying 50% off floor samples. I found just the outdoor wicker couch and two chairs I wanted. When I went in I saw one of the couches was sold but there was an identical couch right next to it. I told them I wanted the couch and two chairs. They told me they decided they were only selling one of the couches even though both of them were floor samples and they weren't selling the chairs. First and last experience with Pottery Barn. I want to start with the positives... the product is good quality and we like the bunk bed. The manager at the UTC location was kind, supportive, and tried to be helpful which I appreciate. However, the process from start to finish was an actual NIGHTMARE. 1. Ordered a very expensive bunk bed. We chose to go here and pay more so we would have amazing service and not have to deal with the headache of assembly and such. The sales girl never asked if it was a 1 or 2 story house. When they came the first time to deliver (2 weeks later), they unloaded all of the stuff in the house, and then said they need 3 guys, not 2, in order to lift the stuff around our stairs. They also said they needed a team to disassemble the stairs they just assembled, to get them upstairs. I assured them it would fit, and they would not do it. They left all of the pieces there, and ordered a team to come back another time. This is white glove service!? Then they had to come back an hour later because they forgot to leave the chair that goes with the desk portion. It was covered in black finger prints! 2- On the second attempt at assembly, a week with pieces all over my floor and my poor 2 year old begging for her new bed, they assured us 3 guys would come and disassemble. But again, TWO guys show up, with no notes of disassembly. They also said they cannot lift if around the stairs. I begged them to try because I KNEW it would. They refused. Mind you, I had to pay for a sitter to watch my child and dogs to get them out of the house to help coordinate all of this. They said they did not have enough time in their schedule to disassemble, and their boss wouldn't let them stay. I assured them the pieces would fit around the stairs, but they argued with me. 3- Mattresses all came separate dates and not on the days we were told they would come. 4- On the THIRD attempt to assemble, they told me they could not come on a Monday, but only the Wednesday (two weeks with crap everywhere in my house). I said I work until 3. They said they cannot guarantee the 3 hour window. I said fine I will figure it out. They said 7-10am delivery. My husband MISSED work to be there. Then it got delayed 12-3. I was pissed, but fine because he was home. I get home at 330 and they call and say there is a delay. They got there just before 4 pm (so my husband missed an entire day of work to wait for nothing). This time, 3 guys finally show up, and TWO of them EASILY lift the pieces around the stairs. They fit just fine, as I had assured the last 4 guys. They had everything assembled in 45 minutes. So we never needed 3 guys OR disassembly!!! They use a 3rd party to deliver and assemble, but don't communicate at ALL with the guys. It was FAR from white glove service. It was honestly one of the most stressful experiences with regards to furniture/delivery. Nobody knew what was going on, and I got a different answer from each of the 20 customer service reps I spoke to. Beyond disappointed and would not recommend them. read more

Given the recent reviews and my previous experience here, I was very hesitant to give Pottery Barn any business but my husband found some kitchen chairs that he really wanted to check out so we did. We worked with Sunny and was given great customer service with her. Our living room / bar room rarely gets used anymore so we decided to turn it into a theatre room. We ordered a modular buffet for the room to hold and store all the treats the hubby and kiddo are planning to have readily available. They quoted us 13 weeks for the chairs and 16 weeks for the buffet. Pottery barn seems to be falling short on product quality and delivery times so I'm hoping they keep it close to those quoted dates and the product that I actually receives is in tact. Bettina was amazing and so helpful when we were planning our purchase which was the main positive thing I can say about my experience so far. But it appears after the purchase was complete and I dropped all this money, the customer service and communication went downhill. I was constantly told someone would get back to me which rarely happened. I often had to make several calls to the store and leave several messages and even then it was like pulling teeth to get someone to return my call. It was a lot of empty promises about "I'll get back to you today" and then nothing happening even from the store managers. I was also told someone would call Monday to schedule my delivery and fast forward to Thursday and I had heard nothing. I finally asked for the phone number myself and scheduled the delivery in 2 seconds. If someone had just given me that number last week I could have handled this so much quicker. It's just been a frustrating experience once the order was placed. I definitely would think twice about doing anything else with pottery barn based on this experience. EDIT: it got worse. Once the delivery came 2 things were missing. After a complete run round, I was told today it was canceled as the item is no longer available. No one notified me with this information. In addition, ANOTHER item was not available and had to be refunded. They refunded me the wrong amount. Overall it's been a nightmare and I will NEVER order from PB again. I recently visited Pottery Barn Kids and had a disappointing experience with one of the assistant called Paige. She was rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional throughout my visit. When I asked for help she responded with a dismissive tone and seemed annoyed by my questions. Instead of assisting me, she made me feel like an inconvenience. We ordered the Irving Roll Recliner with swivel glider. This is the cheapest, least supportive recliner I have ever sat in. They are claiming it is a "custom" piece of furniture and not eligible for return. Their is no lumbar support, the leather is paper thin and and arms are rock hard with zero cushion. I called because I was half way through with an online order from a Bridal Registry and was stuck. Basically, she held my hand until I finished the order. She calmly walked me through the process because she knew I wanted to work off of the online registry. Except for this review, she got nothing from this order. All she cared about was helping me. She assisted with patience and professionalism. The finest in customer service I've ever experienced. I go here once and awhile with my wife to browse mostly and get decor ideas for our house. Recently, I went in for the beginning of holiday season with my wife to browse. She was looking at furniture ideas for the house. I got caught up in all the fall decorations. They had these adorable glass pumpkins that I thought would be lovely for the fall time! I didn't end up buying the pumpkins then. However, I returned a couple days. Later and got the pumpkins. The cashier was polite. The line was long. The pumpkins weren't cheap (even though they were on sale.) will I be back? Sure. I'll come back to browse no doubt. Will I purchase something? It depends...on the line and the price. Time will tell! Order a piece of furniture from PB in early Feb. It didn't arrive until April. It was supposed to arrive in 2 weeks from the order date, but shipping kept getting delayed. Found out later that they lost the first piece and had to reorder a new one. Every two weeks that I call to find out the status of my order, I am constantly get associate on the phone that have no idea what I'm talking about. The item arrives broken. Called PB, but they told me to call the manufacturer myself. I paid quite the price for this piece and didn't even get any customer service. I ordered many items from Ahaus and RH and never had such bad experiences. Never again will I be buying anything from PB or WS. What a great pottery barn! This one is in the UTC shopping center, very accessible and this morning there was hardly anyone there. My neighbor Robin and I strolled in and luxuriated in the fabulous Christmas decorations and accessories. They had some great tree decorations, and all kinds of candles, glassware, etc, etc, etc. Beautiful decorated trees. Very friendly people, helpful and knowledgeable. Do not believe any 5 star review of this place. Those are hired. I am shocked at how horrible this experience has been. My wife and I placed a VERY large order and we are dealing with their concierge. Our order is very late and the claimed the dates that were given us for shipping are the dates that the furniture was arriving at the warehouse. I found out later that was a lie. I asked to speak with a superviser and they said they are terrible under staffed and I couldn't. Finally they said a superviser would call back in a week. The reason we bought from Pottery Barn was because we moved into a new house and ETA was a big selling point. We are still sleeping on the floor and now we have just been told it will be another week. Also, we ordered a kitchen island and the shelves fell off because their delivery team installed them incorrectly. One of the metal shelves fell on my wife's foot. No damage, but very annoying. After what I went through, I am afraid to shop at Pottery Barn. i bought 2 marble dining tables, one small and one large. After months of waiting, the large one arrived with a big crack and the metal base was dented. The delivery people took it back and left the small one. Several months later, we were informed that the replacement was ready for delivery so we stayed home from work to wait for it. Delivery arrived as scheduled, but it was the wrong table. They take it back. I get no notification that they would arrange another delivery, no refund, nothing. After a month of not hearing anything, I called customer service who had to track down the order. To my great relief, they at least acknowledged that they had taken back the wrong table and issued me a refund. The whole process took 8 months, and I still dont have the table I wanted. read more

BEWARE when ordering anything from Pottery Barn in store or online. Although, working with the staff in store was fine, the shipping/distribution/delivery is a COMPLETE nightmare. Recently purchased 3 large pieces after moving to a new home - a large modular desk arrived several weeks later than scheduled with dents/dings on all pieces and each piece with slightly different finish colors, a sectional couch was delivered in two separate trips as PB initially wasn't sure where the second part of the couch was located. By far the worst experience has been with an upholstered bed ordered in July 2022, estimated delivery by end of Sept/early Oct that had the headboard lost somewhere and has yet to be successfully delivered. The Initial delivery was scheduled, then cancelled, by PB TWO times because they were unable to locate all the pieces of the bed - eventually they ended up reordering the LOST headboard. Fast forward to Nov 2022 now, and another rescheduled delivery... I reminded the delivery scheduler that I needed the whole bed delivered, and not just the new (reordered) headboard and was assured that the WHOLE bed would be delivered. Once the delivery truck showed up, they had ONLY the headboard on the truck! We are now rescheduled another week out so they can reunite the headboard and the rest of the bed before their next delivery attempt (#4)!! Meanwhile... they have had my money since July! Never been so frustrated and haven't had any of these problems with the other furniture stores/on-line stores I've been using since moving. Buyer Beware! read more

I have Pottery Barn curtains in my living room, master bedroom and my husband's office. They all have the same rings. The original silk blend the curtains literally fell apart so I had to replace them. I wasn't happy but I know silk does not do great with the sun. The new curtains for the bedroom were installed about maybe three months ago. After having them hung for about a month I decided that I really needed two more panels so I ordered those and now the rings, which Pottery Barn has had for at least five years, have changed. The new rings are "easy glide." what a joke. The old rings weigh several ounces each. The new ones probably barely an ounce. They are at least half an inch shorter than the original rings. So annoying. And ya want to know the best part?!?!! PB has gaslighted their employees to tell their customers that these new rings are far superior to the previous ones. They'll slide easier. The old, substantial ones glide beautifully. This used to be one of my go-to stores. Now. NO THANKS. I'll take my business elsewhere. Oh, and they also have. Really bad return policy. read more

Arrival was 7am-1pm At 11:15 I got a call that they were only delivering the chairs and the table had not arrived yet .... Really ?? Your tracking showed it was delivered to you back in November - I called customer service. No help. Also no manager on duty today - lies ! So my 7am-1pm appt today is only for chairs. Tracking the delivery guy- now shows 2pm delivery....and again, no update on my table. My guests on Thanksgiving sat on the floor. My dinner party this week, I guess they can sit on chairs with NO TABLE. Obviously they either have my table to another customer or the driver forgot it today. She is the "Design Studio Specialist" for PB. Owing to the small footprint, the store can't even remotely stock a reasonable range of the furniture in their catalog. However, Bettina has an array of fabric swatches, paint chip books and wood trim samples at her disposal to help you visualize how a piece will look in your room. I can't speak to the quality of their furniture, but working with Bettina to understand the design and style aspects was a pure pleasure. read more

I made a purchase for $5k and was persuaded by the cashier to open a Pottery Barn credit card to receive a 0% financing promotion, only to be charged for interest later. When I spoke to the credit card company they sent me to the store. When I talked to the store they sent me back to the credit card company. I've been charged an additional $200 for an item for a credit card I didn't want in the first place. Neither the store or credit card company are willing to resolve the issue and they act like its my fault. On top of that my item was broken when it was shipped and I had to wait another month for a replacement. DO NOT SHOP at this store! read more
