I really like Taps. In the most recent couple of times I've been there (August 2019), their tacos were great, the burgers were great. Nice selection of beers. Staff always helpful and seemingly glad to see you. Last star is held back for a salmon sandwich that was merely OK; the Cajun spice was put on too heavily and just overpowered the salmon entirely. read more

The menu isn't clear..apparently items are only vegan upon request despite the menu stating them as vegan. I learned the hard way by biting into my food and realizing that there was meat hidden in it. It was awful. read more

Ordered takeout and upon waiting for my food to be ready I witnessed a rather rude exchange between who I assume is the manager and another waitstaff. Overpriced rather awful food-my chicken was completely raw in the center. Did not want to bring it all the way back once I returned home. I moved to VT a couple years ago, having spent the last few years in Boston. I was accustomed to the kind of bar that was welcoming and chill. Taps is a hip place. Tasty grub, large craft beer selection, liquor and good tunes. They have a weekly bluegrass sit in, jazz, folk, and a diverse collection of touring pro troubadour types. I'd like to see an open mic, maybe some day. The staff could not be friendlier and the scene is real mellow. It's the kind of bar I thought I would have in VT, but took too long to find. I'm a mug owner now and plan on using it on the regular. I know I sound like I own stock in the place, but I'm just excited that I don't have to drive 2 hours for a great bar anymore. And this place is probably better anyway. read more

What can I say about taps that hasn't been said about America? Proud, beautiful, and majestic. I had an order of wings that hit my mouth like Tyson would in his prime. Couple that with the endless divorcee moms just hunting for anything under 35 years of age, a few drinks, and you have something really special. Light on the castleton bike trail it is a nice place to destination ride to for lunch from castleton. Stopped in for a beer and decided to have something to eat. Split the fish tacos (salmon) with fries and the seasonal veggie which was local green beans and carrots. Very good nice portion. Would have taken pic but was too hungry! I went to Taps Tavern last night and had THE BEST eggnog I've ever tasted! Serna's special recipe was light and delicious! The food at Taps is always good and beautifully presented. Ask Serna, or one of the other very friendly staff, to recommend a dish. read more

Tuesday night and Thursday nights are my favorite at Taps! $4 well and $3 pints on Tuesday and 50 cent wings Thursday! They always make drinks exactly how you want it! And it is worth the cash to sit and enjoy the live music they have almost every night. read more

I ate here again at the end of the year and it changed my 3 star rating significantly and bumped it up one star! It was early on a Friday night and we were seated and given drinks very quickly. The food had improved significantly than when I went there six months ago. The person I was with had the Farm Burger while I had the chicken tenders with fries. The burger had fresh ingredients and the only complaint was that he didn't have another one! My tenders were better and the fries were great! My only complaint revolved around a leaky plastic cup that got water all over the table--but the waitress easily fixed that by giving us a new one. Choose from cozy booths, cool high tops sprinkled around the tavern, bar seating so you can watch games on TV, or hit the deck- seating outside among the hanging plants overlooking historic downtown Poultney. They are all great spots where you can listen to some of the best live music around. I'm telling you- it's where the locals and smart travelers go. Some of our favorites- roasted Brussel sprouts and the spicy cauliflower app....macaroni and cheese, burgers, fish tacos, shepherds pie....all winners. One of my favorite things to do is visit Taps for their bluegrass night! Always a fun time- cheap beer, great music, and an upbeat atmosphere. Our food experience here has been 50/50. UPDATE- There must be a new chef because the past few times I have been here the food had been INCREDIBLE. Tempura zucchini sticks, pulled pork nachos, pesto garlic mac and cheese, etc. Service can be very slow, but the waitstaff is usually very friendly. Come here for the great beer and music! But maybe eat somewhere else first. read more

What a terrific place! I met up with friends here because it was halfway between where we each were based. We spent half of the afternoon sitting on the beautiful shady (yay!) front deck surrounded by flowers. The owner Serena waited on us, she is doing such a terrific job with her business! (I believe in supporting women-owned business so that was a total bonus.) It was easy to be vegetarian here. The poutine is yummy and abundant; the fried Brussels sprouts delicious and crispy, with excellent prosciutto lardons if you're carnivorous. Thumbs up also for the avocado toast, spinach salad, and spring rolls. The coffee is a local roast from Burlington, and my coffee drinking friends said it was great. I so appreciated the relaxed and welcoming vibe, and am definitely returning next time I'm within striking distance. Worth the drive if you are in this neck of the woods, even coming from Dorset or Manchester. read more
