Poundtown Burger Bar has officially birthed a brand new sibling, bringing its famous smashburgers to the Aldi Plaza in Cicero! Cicero, NY welcomes Poundtown, newly opened in the Aldi Plaza (5962 Rt. 31) near CNS High School, and it is definitely worth a visit. It's easy to drive right by this plaza and never know this treasure is there, but don't miss it! I ordered the Double Trouble Smash Burger with cheese ($15), and it was incredibly tasty. The patties had that perfect crispy edge you want in a great smash burger. It was served on a wonderfully soft roll and loaded with perfectly melted cheese, fat pickle slices, and sweet caramelized onions. You get a choice of signature sauces (Classic or Classic with a Cajun kick)--I chose the Classic, and it was delicious! My burger came paired with a generous side of crispy, fresh, hand-cut fries. Turnaround time from counter ordering to table delivery was remarkably brief. While the signature burgers range from $16-$18, they have at least 10 different burgers on the menu alongside plenty of other options. You can find chicken, mac bowls, salad bowls, and loaded fries ($8-$10). A friend of mine who was eating there at the same time highly recommends the onion rings, too! Unexpected Plus: When I entered the cozy space, I was delighted to discover that Pound Town shares its location with Big Fellas Hibachi & Tacos and they serve a multi-page menu of delights including tacos, burritos, egg rolls, wings, and even steak or lamb plates! Definitely looking forward to sampling their menu soon. Regardless of which vendor you are visiting, the cozy room has a few booths for dining-in, even though the setup seems primarily geared for takeout. The mother-in-law asked where I wanted to go. I said I wanted to take her to Poundtown. The wife was not amused. But the food was amazing so I was forgiven. I had to go with the special burger of the month: the Backyard Banger. Everything about it was delicious. My wife had the Mac Bowl Classic Tenders and her mother enjoyed the other burger of the month: the El Jefe. Everyone left satisfied and I was praised for my choice. The building is a bit on the cramped side. It's a small place with a few tables and bar seating. Two restaurants occupy the same space and they definitely are going for that "hole-in-the-wall" feel, but in a good way. No pound cake here though. read more

If you are looking for an amazing burger, Pound Town is definitely the place. It has a cool setup that feels like two restaurants in one. You walk in, order at the counter, grab a seat, and they bring your food out to you. The service was quick, the food was delicious, and the vibes were absolutely there. Poundtown, originally operated by Randall Hon and his partner, Tihami Chowdhury, opened in January 2025 in a shared dining space that also houses Big Fellas. Hon is also a partner in two of the local Pavone's pizza shops and the Taphouse on Walton in Armory Square. After a falling out between the two men, Hon was left as the sole owner. Poundtown has variations on the smashburger (including the onion-heavy Oklahoma burger), plus chicken, wings, mac and cheese and other "American" foods. Smashburgers are my preferred style of burger, so I was excited to hear about Poundtown opening. It took me a while to get down to try it, but I was able to recently during a weekday afternoon. When it comes to the food, everything was very good. I went with the Poundtown Pub burger, a smashburger topped with American cheese, pickles, onion rings and a house pub sauce, with their everything spice fries. Food was great - it came quickly, fresh, good flavors, huge burger and side of fries. $23 for a burger, fries and drink, which is pricey, but food is pricey nowadays no matter what. I did have a couple issues just with the restaurant/service itself. If you've never been, as I said before, they share their space with Big Fellas, and for first timers, there's no sign or anything showing where you need to go for either restaurant. There is a hostess in the back of the restaurant, who is only there for Big Fellas. She told me to go to the register at the bar for Poundtown - the register was blocked by tables they have set up for patrons, so you're not even sure where to stand. I'm not sure if the employee who waited on me was new or just somewhat socially awkward, but he seemed very anxious the entire interaction - from not knowing what to tell me when I asked what they had to offer for drinks, having issues running the register, etc. Totally get if he was new, but it seemed like no one was there to help him out unless he asked, and it made the experience a bit awkward. Outside of that, the food was great, I just think the operations could run a little bit smoother, but I'd return if I was downtown and in the mood for a burger. read more

The burgers are AMAZING!!! You will not be disappointed! I stopped in for a to-go meal, I ordered a Mac daddy burger (pickles, Mac & cheese on a burger), and my taste buds are still Dancing! Not only was the burger delicious, but the Mac and cheese on the burger had seasoning/spices that really elevated it! (And their fries are crispy - this a good fry spot for folks who are pickier about their French fries). Sat at the bar area and was the only one seated at the restaurant.The French fries tasted just like Five Guys, which are my favorite. Got the Oklahoma burger which is very onion heavy which was good, but I guess I like my burgers less crispy. It's my first smashburger so don't have a frame of reference. The older reviews said bad things about the service here, but my experience was the complete opposite. We sat at the counter, and our server was fantastic--attentive, fast, and super friendly. I had the Oklahoma Onion Burger from the Poundtown menu, and honestly it's easily my new favorite burger in the city. If you're a fan of the smash-burger style, this is the spot. It had those perfect, lacy, crispy edges and the onions were caramelized sweet and pressed in just right. The setup is a little unique (and slightly confusing)--it's essentially two restaurants operating out of one space. You have Poundtown for burgers and Big Fellas for Cajun rice bowls and wings. They seem to operate as totally separate entities with their own servers and checkout spots, so it wasn't entirely clear if you could "mix and match" onto one tab. Went to lunch with my friends to checkout one of the newer restaurants in downtown Syracuse. They were not busy but only had one person taking orders and cooking. I ordered a double cheeseburger and it came with hand cut fries. It took awhile to get our food but considering he was alone that was acceptable. I'm normally not a Smash Berger person but this was juicy and flavorful. The fries were really good. We sat outside because it was a nice day and that was enjoyable. The owner came around and brought us some peach sauce to try and asked us how everything was. That was a nice touch. read more

Their online ordering never seems to be available, and lines weekdays during lunch are very long. I ended up going in on a Saturday afternoon and was the only customer there. The staff was friendly, but they seemed very bored and like they didn't want to be there. The food was decent, a bit overpriced for what it was.
