Was in Syracuse visiting my son and we had a great dinner. There were gourmet of us and we kept putting out forks in each others plates saying of next time I'm getting this. The fried chicken with hot honey was absolutely delicious and had enough for lunch the next day. The salmon was fresh and super flavorful and the risotto was to die for. We had ordered a bottle of wine and cocktails to start. Everything was great. Our server was incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. I. I stopped by with a group of 6 on a Friday afternoon. When me and my friend stopped by there was no one at front so we stood around awkwardly for a bit before someone came over to bring us to our table. Walking through the restaurant was nice as the space was very large and the decor indoor was cozy and whimsical. Our server was nice throughout the meal. However, I did get a water glass that had marks on it that looked like someone just drank out of it and a crumb on the rim. I asked them if they could get me a clean cup and they ended up bringing the same one as the same mark and crumb were still there. For food, our table ordered a few items to share. We got: -CAULIFLOWER WINGS: The chutney/salsa on top of the fried cauliflower was nice and gave the item a little sour kick. However, the cauliflower itself was not cooked fully so not as soft as I wanted it to be. -SYRACUSE POUTINE: The appearance of the poutine was not the best. However, the gravy it came with was very flavorful and tasty. The potatoes themselves were not fried and were in wedge form but went well with the gravy. The small globs of melted cheese on top were a nice complement. -CAJUN SLIDERS: The slider compliments/sauce went well together but the sliders themselves had grill marks on it which gave a bitter bite to those parts of the slider. Additionally, the fried shrimp inside of the slider still had the tail on and so it was a bit of a surprise to bite into a full tail while eating a slider. My fiance and I came to Oh my Darling for brunch, we have been in the last and enjoyed it but today it was disappointing. The ambiance is always very nice and there is always great service, I have no complaints there. However, I ordered the Croque Madame and the sourdough was very burnt on both sides to the point I could taste it even with the ham and cheese. My fiance ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and he said it was very bland, the chicken seemed unseasoned and the aioli was good but didn't add enough flavor to make the sandwich any better than mediocre. On a positive note the truffle fries were great, and my latte was amazing. Overall it was fine, but we will not be regulars. read more

We stopped at Oh My Darling for lunch in our way up to Rochester. It seems like OMD is one of the better dining options in Syracuse, especially for Sunday brunch. The space itself is really nice - tall ceilings and good bones. It does have this kind of empty feeling and could definitely use more warmth in terms of decor. I started off with the strawberry smash mocktail which was delicious. The grits looked great in photos, so I decided to order along with blackened shrimp. Although I wish they were warmer, the grits were tasty and well seasoned. It came with three shrimp, but unfortunately one of my shrimp was still partly raw - cooked on one side but when I flipped it still totally blue gray on the other. I worked around it. I'd recommend this spot for a quick lunch on the way up to Rochester or Buffalo. read more

We made reservations for brunch because we were going to a show at The Landmark Theater afterwards. It was very busy and while many people with early reservations were going to the same show, people continued to arrive who were just coming for a lovely brunch. I have always loved the decor, light and airy with a clean modern feel. I love that you get a bottle of water on the table....no waiting for refills. I had the ricotta pancakes with lemon curd and fruit on top. It came with a small fresh, tasty salad that was dressed with a light vinaigrette. It also comes with choice of either ham, bacon or sausage on the side. My friend highly recommend the bacon, and while I'm not really a bacon person I went for it. I got three nice size strips that were tasty and perfectly cooked. I don't care for crispy, hard bacon and these still had some chew to them. The pancakes were very tasty and the lemon curd and fruit was a delicious topping, though they did serve a small portion of of syrup on the side which I enjoyed also. Service started out great, our server was attentive and friendly. As it got busier and we saw our server waiting on a large party, we didn't see him as much, which was absolutely fine. I understand why they do that, so fine. We arrived to a mostly empty dining room, since we tend to eat early. They asked if we had a reservation, and when we said no, the girl seated us in the very worst table in the back next to the rest rooms and door to the kitchen. The place was mostly empty, and the table was a bit small for 3 people, but whatever. The food was pretty good and well presented. I had been there for a couple business lunches and enjoyed it. Our server was friendly and funny and everything we ordered was brought out quickly. The chic decor was perfect for girls night! And there's a Speakeasy downstairs!! Most of the menu is southern-inspired but they offer something for everyone. The hot honey chicken entree is definitely a standout, the poutine appetizer was delish as well. Staff has always been friendly and informative and able to answer questions about items being vegan or GF. Personally, I've found their drinks to be a bit disappointing, cocktails and mocktails alike. I find myself longing for more flavor, and for cocktails a bit stronger. I've had some great experiences with food and some disappointing ones. The vegan cauliflower steak curry was DELICIOUS, one of my favorites I've had from them, vegan or not. Shrimp and grits are okay, 3 shrimp for $18 is a little steep and grits overall flavor was little off. Brussel sprouts had good flavor but I think they need to be cooked longer. Sweet potato fries were yummy. Mac n cheese and hot honey chicken are also yummy. Brunch is overall better but items can vary as well. read more

All style, little substance. The interior of this place is absolutely stunning, though it gets pretty loud during afternoon brunch because the place is packed. Even despite this, the staff were pretty quick to get things in and out. As far as the food, I was disappointed because they were out of so many things I wanted to order and what we did get was pretty lackluster. Their avocado toast is very low effort. And a lot of bread. You get two slices with a very thin spread of guacamole, not real avocado, and it's slathered with honey and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. They put a salad and fruit garnish in the middle, but it was still very sad. I'm not expecting it to be California quality, but the effort is not there, especially not for $12. The banana bread was pretty dense and contains walnuts. As far as drinks, we went for the mocktails. I'm guessing the lychee one is popular, because they were out, so we settled for the others. The lavender lemonade was average, a little too sweet for me. On the other hand, the strawberry limeade was way too tart and unbalanced, with no strawberry flavor coming through. Each of these mocktails were $8 but they came in much smaller glasses than their cocktails, which felt odd, especially since they're much cheaper to make. I went on a night a show was opening at the Landmark so it was pretty much impossible to find any close parking. The restaurant was also hopping, but despite that service was impeccable. I was sitting with a group of about 10, but food came out fast and our server was great about checking in. Would definitely recommend dining in for the full experience. The restaurant is popular, especially on show nights or when there are other events downtown, so if you want a calmer ambiance maybe plan your visit on a slower night. Otherwise, enjoy the buzziness. The decor of the restaurant is pretty chic and trendy, and I don't think you truly get the full experience if you're not dining in and socializing. Their cocktail menu is on point. It was truly hard to choose from the seasonal menu, which had tons of great options. The harvest sangria was tempting (lots of other folks at the table got it and it looked delish) but I went for the apple cider spritz. Great size, and super refreshing. For dinner I went for the seasonal flatbread and a side of mac and cheese. I asked for the flatbread to come without meat. Not sure if they assumed I was vegan, because they also nixed the whipped brie, which was a bummer. I didn't realize it was missing until after I'd already finished my meal (I'll admit, I was a bit tipsy/hungry by that point.) Flatbread was still tasty, but would have really been better with the cheese. Mac and cheese was delicious. Creamy and cheesy but still fancy. We went to eat here before a concert at Lakeview Amphitheater. We let our waiter know that we had a designated time to be elsewhere and he was attentive, helping us stick to our schedule. He suggested a Clementine drink that was absolutely delicious. I had the Darling burger. I LOVED this burger. I'm not normally a huge goat cheese fan but there's a time and place when it's right. And this was that time and place. Combined with the balsamic onion jam and garlic aoili (my favorite condiment), it was to die for! My friend had the fish tacos. She enjoyed them but they were very soggy. By the time she got to the last one, it was so soggy that it wasn't really edible. That was disappointing. But she mentioned it to the waiter, and he was quick to have another one made for her. Unfortunately the person in the kitchen gave her an equally wet taco, but she was able to eat it before it turned into a soggy mess. We chose to sit outdoors, as it was a beautiful day. Cute little spot right in the center of downtown, really loved the drinks. Random but the place had some really cool tile including a very beautiful bar top. We came on Saturday night after the wait at another spot was just too long and were able to get seats at the bar. I do recommend making our reservation because we were only really able to fit at the bar as a party of two. I ordered a honey, pear margarita, and it was really good. Great combination of flavors for some fall fun. I also got the hot honey chicken, which came with mac & cheese and brussels sprouts. wasn't a huge fan of the brussels sprouts. They weren't fully the texture I like, but the mac & cheese was really good. The chicken was a little too crispy in my opinion kind of leaning towards dry. Service was very friendly and drinks were really fast, we learned that the downstairs portion of the space was being used as a wedding venue from the bartender after we saw a bride kind of pop up. We stopped in here on our first night in Syracuse. We were driving around downtown, with our Yelp app pulled up, when we came across Oh My Darling. It was so cute outside with their white string lights on the front patio, and then even cuter inside with the ambiance. It reminded us of a restaurant back home It seems like it's probably more known for the brunch menu, but the dinner menu was perfect for us. Our food was quite scrumptious. I was craving chicken and that's what I got. My husband's sweet potato fries were tasty so of course I had to sample a few! Our waitress was very friendly, she may or may not have given us a free slice of cheesecake to take back to the hotel! It tasted nothing like cornbread. Honey butter was way too sweet. I got my sausage biscuits and gravy and the first mouthful had two long black hairs in it. I started gagging and asked them to take it away. They gave me full credit but did nothing to compensate me. I did not reorder and went without breakfast. Music was too loud and the acoustics were terrible. Everyone had to text each conversations. Staff were pleasant and friendly. Too expensive for what we got and certainly. The thought of getting more hair in my mouth was disgusting and what other unsanitary practices are the staff doing???. Obviously kitchen staff obviously aren't very careful!!! Ok, Kids, we've been meaning to pop in here for a while now and finally their number came up so we dove in for an early dinner. First impressions: clean, airy, spacious and gracious. Every staff member was top notch. The menu was impressive and included some creative turns on old favorites and some difficult to execute items as well. Josh (our excellent waiter) was fun to work with as we threw dietary curveballs at him. What the chef could and couldn't or shouldn't or wouldn't do with allergen substitutions. Turns out, they're game for anything! While I tested the chef's skill with the always finicky Cacio e Pepe (a cheesy pasta dish where sauce expertise is paramount and one really needs to be a Cheese Whisperer to pull off the perfect plating) my lovely wife chose the Maple/Bourbon Salmon subbing Brussels Sprouts for Asparagus. No sides, appetizers or salads: we were going all in on the entree. And we might've seen they had Bengnets on the dessert menu. Early seating slot is a must for a Friday night and the place filled up quickly. The delicious dinners arrived in good time, hot and aromatic. Simply plated, this meal would be all about the senses: nothing extraneous or superfluous cluttered our experience. The salmon: cooked perfectly, sweet and smoky with a crispy crunch underneath. Served on risotto, this fish dish made our Top Ten in Town list. Easily. The pasta: the flavor was spot on, excellent in its el dente state and the sauce... very close to textbook. It's hard to get the Parmesan to melt in exactly so and clumping is only avoided within a few degrees of exacting temperature. This makes for a wetter sauce that is nonetheless delicious. I am a tough grader on such things. I promise you'll enjoy this if you order. Saving room for Beignets and coffee was worth it. I'll bet we were the first dessert order of the night and perhaps the fryer hadn't quite settled down from first heat as the larger of the six heavenly nuggets were underdone in the middle. Yet! Verily, they were the best we've had in CNY to date. So: downtown Syracuse for a show or a browse through the bookstore, stop in for a nice $100 dinner for two. They deliver the goods! read more

They have wonderful cocktails here that I sadly couldn't enjoy due to being pregnant. My mom enjoyed her cocktail, which was based on the current musical showing at the Landmark (Anastasia). They also have a speakeasy down stairs that opens in the evening! We started with an order of corn bread that the waitress warned is on the dry side. The homemade honey butter definitely made up for this and added a nice sweetness to the bread. My eggs Benedict was decent, but the ham was too large for the bread. A different bread option would have been better. The potatoes also had a bit too much chili powder on them which made them rather spicy. We decided to end our meal by splitting an order of Beignets. I had never had these classic New Orleans fried dough bites, but they seemed a bit over fried to me. They came with three different spreads to dip them in. The lemon curd was our favorite. He walked by our table over and over without even a "be right with you," while the people next to us got served like normal. It's a single page, not War and Peace. After half an hour of being invisible, we just left. Never even got to try the food because the service collapsed. Google may say 4.2 stars, but Yelp's 3.8 feels closer to the truth. The waiter was pleasant enough, but once we were sat and had ordered we were not checked on again until the food came out, which took an awfully long time. After that, we we were not checked on again until most everyone in my party had finished their meal. We never got the opportunity to order cocktails or to comment on the quality of the food.
