At first, it was difficult to find the entrance to the restaurant as it says the entrance is a red door but there was no red door. I followed by instinct though and opened up the beige door next to the restaurant and boom! That was the entrance lol. I've been here almost 2 years now and this restaurant never disappoints! The woman is so sweet and the food is excellent! My favorite is the Jjambong, which is a spicy noodle soup with seafood and veggies. It has two mussels and shrimps, 3-5 strips of squid, spinach, bean sprouts, and green onions! Gimbap - Very much like sushi, but the rice is seasoned differently and the carrots and spinach are cooked, it also had egg, radish and crab and was topped with sesame seeds. Tteokbokki is rice cakes cooked in a flavorful sauce, with scallions and egg. Rice cakes have the consistency of mochi, so it's a texture thing and really not for everyone.....the flavor is in the sauce.....spicy - salty - sweet. I would definitely order it again. After looking through our options on the DoorDash website, we decided to order from Gangnam Style. My husband and I both love various international cuisines. Having a newborn has caused me to rush to eat my meals, so I completely forgot to take photos, but everything was very good! I have always wanted to try Korean bbq wings. They ask whether you want them breaded or unbreaded and there are various sauces to choose from. I went with the spicy bbq as this seemed the most authentic. They use gochujang for the spice, so it's not overly spicy. The wings came with fries, which were very crispy. They also give you a side of kimchi, seasoned mushrooms and bean sprouts. My husband ordered the mapo tofu, which he enjoyed. His only complaint was that it wasn't spicy enough. We also got fried squid and dumplings. I would definitely order from here again! read more

What a delight! This is GOOD Korean food. Everything is made by hand. The chef is the owner, and she and the woman running front of house were friendly and just lovely. Pickled daikon (yay) a mysterious, Herby, spongy green I am unfamiliar with, and a new experience is a rare treat for me, fish cake strips (my favorite) and REALLY well-balanced kimchee. I normally do not care for kimchee, but this was so good! I got a seafood pancake and a squid and pork belly dish, which also had onions, hot pepper slices, and sliced savory fried rice cake. Also, of course, a bowl of rice to eat it on. By default, I was given cold water rather than hot tea, but i found it was quite welcome today. It was a lazy Sunday evening so the restaurant was completely empty. The woman who took our order on the phone was very nice and we had no problems picking up our order. I was a big fan of the noodles but I personally wasn't as into the deopbab my buddy ordered after he let me try it(he enjoyed it more than I did). I did also like the wings. The place looks sketchy. You walk in and you're hit with this smell.. it's not pleasant, but once you sit down you don't even notice it anymore. But their soondubu (tofu stew) and fried chicken were so good. We also ordered the shumai (frozen packaged), spicy ramen, and tonkatsu. We decided to give this place a try and overall we VERY pleased. We ordered Japchae, Bibimbop, Bulgogi and Cilantro Bokkeum. We also ordered fried dumplings. The positive - the food was all VERY GOOD. It took me back to my time in Korea with the aroma and the taste. All of the food was prepared very well and was flavorful. The dumplings reminded me of exactly what I used to order from street vendors in Korea - it was all very, very good!! The negative - We ordered online and when we arrived the food was ready. When we got it home only part of our order was in the bag. When we went back, the owner showed us the order form and it was clear that my order (as I submitted it) was in small print at the bottom of the form but when the site transferred it to larger print it omitted a portion of it - not the owner's fault. She apologized profusely and I assured her I understood and was not upset. In fact, I ordered another order of the fried dumplings because the one I had before coming back to get the rest of the order was so good. I was prepared to pay for it but the owner would not take any money for it - good customer service!!! Came here after a 9 hour flight from California. This was my only meal of the day. Daegu Tang (cod, seafood, tofu, and veggies spicy soup) was excellent. The right amount of spice, salt, proteins and zucchini were cooked perfectly. I liked every banchan. Finished my entire meal (what's shown, plus another rice bowl, and a bit more banchan). Gangnam Style Korean Kitchen is one of those quaint neighborhood restaurants you would expect to find in a college town. I'm fortunate to live on Westcott Street that shares the same neighborhood as this local eatery. I absolutely love Korean food having grown up on it and developing an even greater appreciation of it as I grow older. This place does many things well and I hope you'll take advantage of them when you visit this restaurant for a meal. My first visit to the restaurant was for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered my usual favorite dish, jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and was thoroughly satisfied. Unlike some other Korean restaurants, the broth is rich with a sweet and savory umami flavor that I find very comforting. Its also chock full of vegetables and seafood and makes for a full stomach. The banchan (sidedishes) are clearly homemade and tasty and I often find myself eating it all with a bowl of rice and spoonfuls of the soup broth. Another one of their great dishes is Soondobu Jigae (spicy tofu stew) with seafood. I've also eaten it with pork as well. Its a very unassuming dish with tofu and vegetables in a mild spicy broth but it has great flavor and has the ability to warm your body and sooth your soul. I highly recommend it. Perhaps one of the best items I've eaten from them is their Gimbap (rice and vegetable roll appetizer). Its a very decent sized roll filled tightly with rice, spinach, carrots, egg, radish and beef. The outer toasted seaweed wrapper kept everything bound nicely. Its a nice way to begin the meal and perhaps the best version of Gimbap I've had to date. On top of it all, the ajumma/owner is a sweetheart. In the few times that I've frequented her establishment, she's always treated me very kindly and offers excellent customer service and attention on me. I can not attest to the experiences that some of the other reviewers have witnessed but, I've not been unfortunate enough to have been mistreated in anyway since I've become a regular customer there. Lastly, be sure you take notice that the restaurant has newly updated hours of operation and their phone number has changed. The restaurant closes at 10:00 pm now but, the ajumma will sometimes stay open after closing if you place a take-out order with her. They new business number is (315) 422-1219. Don't be afraid to leave a message close to closing... she may actually call you back! In closing, this is one of the best Korean cuisine restaurants in Syracuse NY kept in the trendy Westcott neighborhood. So just a background, my husband and I are both Korean and are pretty picky when it comes to paying for food these days since everything is so expensive. We ordered the Gan-Jjajang and Tangsuyuk both of which were AMAZING! The noodles for the Jjajang were perfect! Not too overcooked or undercooked, just right. We were told that they are only doing carryout. While there wasn't a sign saying that (and there were people eating at the tables) we agreed to place our order and take it home. This must be one of the few Korean places where the people there are nice to and patient with customers who don't speak Korean haha, which is part of the reason I decided to give this place 4 stars. We took a while to order, but the lady told us to take our time, and when we had questions, she gave us recommendations. We eventually tried the gamja tang, octopus Bokkeum and seafood pajeon. Gamja tang was good. I could just drink the soup by itself. The giant piece of pork bone was a good signal, I think, The octopus was definitely on the rubbery side, but the spicy sauce and onions that go with it are so addictive that I would get it again. I might swap out the pajeon and try something else next time. The ladies working there are grandmotherly (both age and friendliness haha) so they might give you another table's order or give another table your order. But it's part of the charm. FYI, just like many other Asian places, they care about the time you spend there - the lady at some point caught our attention and waved us over (again, in a friendly way haha) to the cashier counter to pay for our bill. I'd definitely agree with someone here who said that the food is like the meal a relative would cook for you at home. Super flavorful and prepared with love. All of the banchan was delicious.
