What a fun shop and area! Was out this way for an event and decided to peruse the street as it had so many cute shop fronts including this one. This store has so many cool goodies and knickknacks. Everything from old fashioned candy to jewelry and plants to skincare. I think we spent at least half an hour looking around. Would definitely recommend popping in if you're in the area. I used to love this store until I went with my partner and we were accused of stealing a ring. The worker even asked her coworker to check the cameras and when they did there was nothing on the cameras. We happened to be the only people of color in the store so it made us very uncomfortable that we were singled out. She screamed at us as we were leaving even cussing at us outside the shop. I'm not sure if this lady was the business owner or not but she was very unprofessional and hostile. I hope she learns from this, I would hate to see others get treated this way. And the business owner responding to my comment lying about what happened. We were the only people of brown skin tone in that store and on top of that her coworker checked the cameras in front of us and told her there was nothing on the cameras then she said we were okay to leave then I mentioned to her it's racial profiling and she got hostile with us following us out of the store onto the sidewalk. read more

When you are walking around uptown, you must stop by Pour Le Bain. My favorite thing to purchase here are the shower bombs. I don't have a tub so the shower bombs are my favorite for a fragrant, relaxing shower. They even have ones for when you have a cold which really comes in handy on a sick day. I got a few Christmas gifts here too. They have so much to choose from: planters, artistic mugs, jewelry, wind chimes, hair products, bath products, etc. Definitely check them out! read more

I use to frequent the store years ago with my mom who would drag me in, to get some soap. It was always dark, dim, and dead to me. I recently stopped by and was shocked by the new feel. It's bright, lively, and so cute! We went in and I saw so many new products. I LOVED it. One of the girls helped us while we were there and showed us a soap that would be great for my teenage sons and their acne. I ended up getting soaps for the whole family! It was cool to see that they can cut the soap right there for you. I ended up finding out there were new owners which makes sense because this is NOT the same soap store I walked into years ago with my mom. Whoever the new owners are, they are doing a disservice in continuing to use the same store name. The Pour Le Bain I shopped at for over 2 decades, was a class act & an asset to the uptown business community. Now it's all about how many vendors they can cram in there & driving the old long time vendors out. The customer service is non existent now. A couple of rude teenagers who appear to be working there, seem to think they are being cute & funny in being rude to customers. The young man was horribly disrespectful to me & my friend. And he seemed too busy on his phone to answer any questions we had about new items we were unfamiliar with. And the lady who works there was also very condescending & acted like she was doing us a favor to help us. The so called "new" Pour Le Bain is a disgrace to the name & legacy of the original store! I really like this shop. It sits on a main street in Uptown Whittier, along with many other small business boutiques. They sell beauty and skin care products, as well as fragrant candles and unique gifts. I mainly come here to buy Beanpod soy candles, which I love. I also come here anytime I need to find a nice gift at the last minute, because they do complimentary gift wrapping. The way they gift wrap and package your items is so pretty, you don't want to open it and mess up the wrapping! Deducting one star for a few reasons. I feel some of the prices are on the higher side, but is understandable when you're a small business and sell upscale items. However, they do have a clearance section in the back of the store with some really good deals. Also, I've once met who I think is the owner, and she didn't seem that friendly or inviting. Maybe she was having a bad day, who knows, but all it takes is one time with one person to leave an impression. The rest of the staff seem nice most of the time, but it's quite obvious they would rather be at home. Nothing to phase me though, and I'll keep coming here to fuel my Beanpod supply! read more

There is a lot to choose from. You can also find greeting cards, bath salts, makeup, tote bags, lounge wear, hand painted martini glasses, holiday decorations and ceramics, things for your garden and general trinketry. The staff is very friendly and will gift wrap any item over $10. Kind of unusual to say, but the gift wrap is done with extra care and the package itself looks very expensive. They always do a lovely job, and it achieves the perfect balance between simplicity and elegance! I am only taking one star off because although the service is always friendly and attentive, it has often been a bit less than helpful. This would probably not be obvious to most people, but unfortunately I am usually in a rush to grab a gift and run off to some party or gathering when I go there, so I really do want and need knowledgeable help to get through the store quickly and select a perfect gift. Soaps, bath salts, scented candles, good smelling lotions and potions. It's a girl's place. Though there is a nice line of shaving products for men towards the back of the store that smells appropriately manly. It's a nice little gem in Uptown. Visit if you're looking for some nice bath and body stuff. They have upscale brands, too. I really liked that they had Miso Pretty, but I didn't see it the last time I went in. They do, however, have their lip balms. And the Rosebud line of lip balms that I crave. Also, if you're averse to wrapping, this store is for you. They wrap your gifts for free! Niiiice.
