Third year attending the Poway Rodeo. It is SO MUCH FUN! The announcers are great and pump up the crowd. So many great cowboy and cowgirls! Bull riding, barrel racing, buck riding and more! It was adorable to see a 6 year old barrel racing! The kids riding the sheep was also entertaining. Lots of vendors from food to merchandise. Plenty to shop for including cowboy hats & clothing. They have a kids zone with inflatables. They also have another separate kids zone with shaded bleachers- separate from general admission. We love the kids zone tickets for the shade, meals included (this year it was Raising Canes), drinks (alcohol also) & face painting. I love that they support the Ronald McDonald house and love that they have someone sing the National Anthem every year. We will be back next year! read more

We went to the Poway rodeo last month for the first time. This was the first time it was held since before the Rona. So, I think technically it had almost been 3 years. Anyways, it was ok. I am not a huge rodeo fan but my friend had some extra tickets. The place was way too busy. Because of the years off everyone wanted to go on this Saturday night. Their was not enough seats for everyone and it is open bench seating. The area for the rodeo isn't a big lot and it was very crowded. Overall, too much alcohol, dirt and sponsors for my taste. I get the alcohol and dirt, that's what rodeo's are about. But the sponsors riding out between each event, plus more times, and the lack of seating was no fun. We had seats up high but were so packed in that it wasn't comfortable. I know they were sold out but maybe re-evaluate the numbers on what it takes to be "sold out" read more

I'm handicap and need walking sticks. We got handicap parking you have to get there early. We bought VIP tickets and it was easy access from handicap parking. Dinner was great people were friendly and overall fun. read more

This was the first time my husband and I ever been to a rodeo. We went yesterday in the afternoon and I was still able to purchase tickets there, last minute. I'm giving 2 stars because there were lots of food options and fun booths to visit but the rodeo itself was so cruel to the steers. The way the cowboys rope the steers necks when it's running away, and the way the steers fly into the air after being jerked from the rope, and then the cowboy ties the legs up too. So cruel. My husband and I didn't stay long. We couldn't watch the animal abuse. We know rodeos are a tail as old as time but it's definitely not something my husband and I will ever go to again. read more

For a family with younger children, we found it was unpleasant with too many tipsy folks. Price is also high for limited seating that is very crowded and uncomfortable. The vendor area was also over crowded so it was tricky to move around to buy food. read more

Just like someone else commented, too many drunk people, too little seating, and just not worth the parking and entrance fees.

The VIP tickets came with a very good meal the seats could've been a little better but the meal was perfect. The bull riders on the other hand were pathetic I've never seen such a poor outcome. I give this rodeo three out of five. read more

Attended the Rodeo on Saturday Night. Got there at 5pm. It was packed. It was a fairly hot day in San Diego, but cooled down by 7:30pm to make for a very pleasant evening and even a tad chilly. The venue was excellent, as always. 5 stars easily. Great food, especially the BBQ Brisket and Chicken from Kaminski's. We will definitely seek out Kaminski's BBQ again when in Poway. A good variety of booths, and many were quality handcrafted products. All the events were well co-ordinated and well presented by the Rodeo staff and volunteers. Security was on point. The Sheriff's department did a great job with traffic control when coming in and especially when everyone was leaving. Mutton busting is still my favorite event. :) One young lady really stole the show. The kids are so cute. There was also one bull rider who really impressed us (Rubio?) and he tried a second ride to raise his points. His form on the bull was amazing. He must have incredible core strength. The bull's performance also counts as part of the grading and neither of his bulls were lively enough it seems. Luck of the draw. Crowd enthusiasm was high. I don't know what was up with the entrants on Saturday. It was like 90% of them were having an off night. Many were hit with a time penalty. I hate to say it, but it was a bit disappointing. I'm sure it was for those entrants too. Maybe they were just plain worn out. A lot of folks left well before the events were over (after the intermission). We stayed till the end. This was probably our 4th or 5th time to attend. Usually we attend the Friday night events and I believe this was our first time for Saturday night. I hate to admit this; it is becoming increasingly difficult for us to sit comfortably for three hours on bleacher benches, even with breaks and portable padded seats... so I don't know how many more years we can do this. And I wonder what the future of Rodeo will hold, with the Animal Rights activists pushing for change. I'm feeling some of the events may go away. I say this with mixed feelings. :( read more

I think the rodeo in itself was awesome. However, I think that the Security company that is used needs to be changed. I actually didn't have any trouble with security myself, but I observed how many of them acted toward some of the people that paid to go to this event and weren't causing trouble. One of the worst ones that I noticed behaving very badly including looking very slouchy in his uniform showing no pride in his work and only wanting to cause issues was a heavyset male with one arm. Not only did he set a bad view of the security company he set a bad view for other customers at the rodeo. I would advise that you should probably hire a better company one that will keep the image of the rodeo as it should be. Not a company that could end up with lawsuits. read more

Do not go unless you buy preferred seating. Plan ahead & buy tickets early. I got general seating & it was a disaster waiting to happen. They over sold the event. People kept piling in. Jumping over the baracade to sit in preferred seating area. The whole walk through area that is to be kept clear was blocked with people sitting there with their legs hanging off. It wasnt safe if you needed to get in or out. People were sitting in the sairways too. Security was not on this at all. Folks just kept strolling in & it was hard to see the show. It was so miserable we left before half time. We want our money back! read more

Looking forward to the rodeo again this year! It's a popular, well-organized event. The booths and snacks are good, but the main event is the rodeo, of course - and the mechanical bull is always fun and humbling! For the animal-lovers out there, so are we! This was the most poorly managed rodeo I have ever attended! They oversold tickets for their profit without taking into consideration on human safety! I addressed this issue with the staff and was refunded my money back but that doesn't make it ok. I wasted my Saturday evening and money I had to spend to take a cab to the rodeo and back home! I will never attend the Poway Rodeo and I will always warn friends if they consider ever attending! read more

So we paid $70 for our family of 4 to attend on a very hot Saturday afternoon. For $70 we were not provided shaded seating so we literally burnt in the sun for as long as we could possibly take it. There were only a handful of food trucks and I only saw 2 dessert options, frozen lemonade and kettle corn. There was very little for kids to do, i.e. games, attractions, kid friendly booths. And for the rodeo itself I found it brutal and sad. This event was not worth the money at all. I will not return. Sorry but I guess the rodeo just isn't for me. read more
