This is a great spot. The food was very good. The drink selection is awesome. I was so pleasantly surprised with the live music. The band I saw, Full Circle, was so good. Decent prices, good pub food, service is usually pretty quick. They have washers on the patio and pool inside along with karaoke spine nights and live bands on others. Good poway local spot since it's one of the few bars in town. Downside is that when they are busy it can get very very crowded, and people can get pretty pushy, and that's when the service starts to decline a bit. Almost forgot to mention that this can be a good place to catch games, especially because they have yummy hot wings! read more

I tried this place for the first time on St. Patrick's day and I have never looked back. This is the only bar I'll ever go to. I'm a regular here and the bartenders always keep a close relationship with the customers like me. They know what I want to drink before I even say a word. It has the small local feel that I love and there's nothing fancy about this place but that's part of the reason I love it. They're not concerned with impressing people, just making sure they have good drinks and a good experience. read more

Pretty pissed off, and the next 10 minutes will determine whether I ever come here again. I haven't been here in 6 weeks because the "new" or "lazy" bartenders have just stopped doing their job. I'm sorry, but when I tip you 40%, I expect that you aren't gonna have a problem making me a drink that's slightly more difficult than pouring a beer on tap! I've been lied to by one person about the bar simply having tomato juice on hand... The last time I was in here, I ordered a Bloody Mary (that's just my drink... Always has been... From the same person that lied to me) and the bartender told me it would be a few minutes because he had to make the mix. 10 minutes later, he said "Just another minute." I told him I'd wait by the pool table because my husband was playing in a league & I wasn't going to stand at the bar for however much longer it was going to take him to serve beer to the other customers... Who, mind you, kept coming in after me! About 30 minutes later, he walked by to serve food to someone & passed me & said, "Omg, I forgot about you!" and rushed back to the bar. An hour later, nothing! I was pretty f'n livid! I watched his girlfriend come in, personal conversation, walked her out to her car, shot the bull with other customers... I told my husband that I will NOT come back to this place.... Well, it's been about 6 weeks & we decided to come back today for a quick game of pool before a movie... New bartender. My husband goes to the bar to order me a drink & she says, "There's no Bloody Mary mix, so I have to wait for Chad to get here to make some." Great... Let's wait for the same bartender that lied to me & blew me off. So, let's see if someone actually wants to do their job tonight! I can't imagine it's too damn hard to mix some tomato juice, pepper, Tabasco, & lime (the bare necessities)... If you don't know how to "make" mix, at least say that... And try! Since the ownership change in Jan 2012, things have completely turned around. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They are serving tasty pub food, great drinks, and awesome live music (weekend evenings). Nice mix of all ages like a neighborhood pub should be. If you had a bad experience in the past (under old ownership) they deserve another shot. read more

I usually enjoyed this place however i had a bartender Emily who was not so nice. Me and my buddies were playing pool having some beers and enjoying the jukebox. After a bit we were told not to pick music with "screaming". At first i was ok with this but then thought about it. I paid for those songs and was offered the service. I sat several times in the bar listening to music i didnt care for. Ie: dirt road anthem which i feel like every time that song there is a child born with down syndrome. After words i brought up that i didnt appreciate the way Emily handled the situation. She became angry and defensive and refused to allow me to talk to a manager or owner. I will no longer go to this bar when Emily is working there. My review will change based on her employment in this fine establishment. read more

Poway's Irish Pub is a great place to stop for a visit, listen to a band, have a drink, or get something to eat. The owners are friendly and take time to visit with the customers. I went there for the first time on Sunday just prior to St. Patty's Day, and had a great time. Their St, Patrick's Day party was jumping and the bands that came in were very good and provided great entertainment. Their prices are reasonable and the food is great. Kinda surprising that there's a little Irish Pub in Poway but decided to give it a try. Came in for a weekday happy hour after work. It wasn't too busy and the bartender was nice. The amount of food they give you for the happy hour specials was a little skimpy but at least the beer is reasonably priced. I'd come back again. read more

My group of us came here yesterday after reading good reviews. We always end up at an Irish pub so decided to try this place out. When we walked in loud metal music was playing and we laughed a little thinking "what are we getting ourselves into". We went to the bar and got or drinks but the music was so loud and the door was open to their patio and there were a few people smoking so we moved to a table. A couple people from our group wanted food but no one ever came to check on us. A worker was setting drink menus on all the tables so we were going to ask him for a food menu, but he skipped our table as if he didn't want to help us. Finally i went to the bar and asked for a menu and then we waited easily 5 minutes and still no one came over to take our order so I went to the bar and ordered. The food came out quick , which was nice. Our drinks were completely emptied by the time they brought the food but didn't ask if we wanted any more drinks. Finally a friendly man came over to clear our plates and we asked for our check. Poor customer service made us go to another Irish pub in Escondido. Fail on their part since we ended up spending a pretty good amount AND when service is good we easily tip 25-30%. I am a Poway resident and will never come back here and will never refer this place to anyone. read more

Came here twice: once during happy hour and once on Friday to see a band. Happy hour wasn't too crowded. Most of the bars stools were taken but I was able to squeeze in. Only one bartender but she made it work and still found to time to chat with all of us and serve food. Had the fish tacos and they were pretty good. Came back later the same week to check out a band. Bar was really hopping. Three bartenders were having to move fast to keep everyone happy, and they did it with a smile. Friendly to everyone, suggesting food even though that was going to make them even busier. They even tried to warn me about ordering the Fire in the Hole wings. Sadly, I didn't listen and paid the price. Trust me, unless you're a professional heat lover, don't order more than 3 'cause you can't handle 'em! Definitely coming back! read more

Love this place. The new owners have turned the place around. I love the traditional Irish food (it reminds me of home) and they are the only place that can pour a proper Guinness and coke. Irish pubs are my favorite. Now, I'm currently pregnant so I'm obviously not drinking, but my friend and I went out to watch the Playoff game..we started at Players but it was a little too restaurant vibe for us. I found this right down the road on Yelp so we came to check it out. Only downside is the jukebox was on so I couldn't focus on the game, so we left after my friend had a shot ($4 Jameson...can't beat that) to finish watching it somewhere else. We stopped back in so she could take a couple more shots before heading home. We will definitely be coming back once I can drink again! read more

I love "diving" into the pub whenever I can. Bartenders are friendly and there are great patrons there that I have made friends with. Everyone is friendly with many jokes floating around which makes the place very entertaining. Trivia night occurs every Thursday. Tuesdays they have $3 pints of DBA all day and evenings which I often go there for. Great appetizer selections too at reasonable prices. As of now, the strip mall where the pub is located is under exterior construction but the pub remains open. If you can get past the construction stuff and enter into the pub it's "business as usual in there". Hasn't changed a bit for me as it presently stands. I think the exterior construction will be completed soon and the curb appeal of the pub will be enhanced greatly. I would recommend going to Poway's Irish Pub to anyone who likes that kind of bar atmosphere. Great selection of music and plenty of room to play pool. Chuckles and fun at Poway's Irish Pub. Bartender "Justin" was far beyond the influence, yelling at customers and ignoring anyone that wasn't a "regular". We were cut off at 11:30 because he was too inebriated to continue serving, also don't believe he was only under the influence of alcohol with the yelling, high speed talking and incoherence, he seemed like he was under the influence of something other than alcohol.
