I usually go there Friday and Saturday Nights. But I cut it down to Saturday nights because of my work schedule makes it quite difficult to wake up Saturday morning to drive people around if needed. Which is a shame, but if I get this promotion, I can be going back Friday nights if my school schedule permits it. Because I live in Poway, It is a great place to enjoy a beer and listen to some "good music". Sometimes the band is really horrible, but some nights I go, they are amazing. Its an older crowd, no doubt about that but there are few people who in the mid twenties. See I just turned 21, and I need a new hang out out of the house. I have gone to PB with friends before but I don't like the drive back because of the cops. There are a few places I go downtown when money allows it(I am a full time student and full time employee not making a lot at the moment.) The Ruby Room off of University is another hang out if I am feeling I can do the trip. The women? Usually there are some good looking ones but they are usually dating someone, and I do not really care about who shows up. I am here to enjoy my beer and some music then walk back home. But I can care less, I am a regular here. I know the regulars and the regulars know me. Plus this is the one places I can find Magic Hat Number 9. read more

Having lived in San Diego my entire life, I knew this place back when it was Patrick's. Hadn't been there since it's Poway's Irish Pub -- until last Saturday night. The bartenders were excellent. Always on top of everything, which was saying something, since it was a full house. The band (Steelehorse Country) was playin' some good honky-tonk that had the crowd dancing. I'm not the biggest fan of country music, but they sounded great (and really, if there's ever a county that should have country/rock playing, it's in Poway....am I right?). I was happy with the drink selection and prices, and that the smoking area was a decent size. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring one of my cigars that night. It's just great that on a night I had a few friends looking for a place with live music -- we were able to come in with no cover, and enjoy two hours of our evening. We'll all be back! read more

To be fair we don't frequent bars much but this place did not resemble an Irish Pub at all. The metal music was so loud it hurt our ears so we thought we'd grab a table on the patio and order food. The people on the patio were mostly standing and smoking and all the tables had dirty ashtrays on them. There was no place to have a conversation with friends so we left. Great happy hour deals. Their Buffalo tenders are my favorite. Affordable and delicious drinks. I'm a bit of a bloody mary snob, and in search of the best one in San Diego, this place is by far the winner! They have an amazing homemade mix. I get mine spicy with jalapenos instead of olives :) Seriously I can not say enough about how amazing their bloody mary is. Must try. The pub is definitely a dive, so if you're looking for night life party scene, you're better off in PB or the Gaslamp. But here at the pub, you're going to pay way less and get better drinks! The crowd is locals and regulars mostly. They have pool tables and you can play washers outside. They also have a patio that you can smoke in. Great bartenders too. I rocked out pretty hard when I came here. I was also devirginized by a pirate band but that's a story for another day. Not that bad of a bar. Drinks are cheap. Service was great. Worst service ever. Server said she had been gone so long because they were switching shifts & was leaving. She took 1 order from 1 of the 8 of us & left without asking anyone else. Saw her at the bar drinking the rest of the night & no one showed up to replace her. The bartender on a Saturday night had to do everything! He was awesome but not great having to go to a crowded bar every time you wanted a drink or order food. Saw one couple wait quite a while for service & they ended up leaving when no one showed up to take their order. read more

I stopped by here for a drink last year for St. Patrick's Day and was impressed. It was mid afternoon and not too busy yet, so I am not sure just how busy or chaotic it gets. This establishment changed ownership at the beginning of 2012 and things have been better than ever. You can tell the staff is happier since the change. Most of the staff is the same, especially behind the bar which makes me happy. Theres Amber who is about as hot as they come and another bartender(Rob) who looks like he could be the Rock's little brother. Rob gets in the weeds sometimes but always delivers your drink with a smile and a wink! Both are great and make the bar scene fun. The food is awesome too! Their main chef (I think his name is Larry) is trying his best to make the best burger in San Diego. They aren't quite up to the quality of Rocky's, but they are close! read more

I love this pub. Great staff, great drinks, great food (MUST TRY PATTY BALLS---fried mashed potato deliciousness) and an all around great environment. They have good live bands on the weekend, trivia and karaoke throughout the week, etc. There's a patio with tables and chairs for smoking or those who want a little elbow room or fresh air. Poway's Irish Pub is now under new ownership and the Pub has improved dramatically! There are multiple flat screen TVs, new games, new jukebox, new dartboard and much more! The food went from ok to AMAZING! I am really impressed with all the new changes. used to be a pretty chill hang...last year or so it's gone down quite a bit...younger hip hop crowd and some pretty loud obnoxious regulars have changed the vibe considerably...but hey they need a place to hang too...was a pretty good place to watch NFL/college FB, but that ended for us when 2 Sunday afternoons in a row this past year the bartender turned down the NFL game and blasted hip hop on the juke so loud you couldn't hear yourself think...at the request of one of the regulars who proceeded to call attention to himself by shrieking the lyrics and dancing all over the place in front of everybody watching football...2 weeks in row, yuck...manager/owner is a hip hop partier too so he's all good with it...plus side the kitchen staff is outstanding and the food is tasty...hit it for a bite when it's dead and do your real sports watching elsewhere if that's your thing... read more
