Their professionalism and attention to detail was unsurpassed by other contractors I have employed in the past. Rick's attention to our needs along with his suggestions and experience helped to bring of a project that far exceeded my expectations. The cost of the project was surprisingly very reasonable. Eldersburg Renovations went farther to ensure that the site was kept clean and well secured the entire time they were there. His crew was very tentative and courteous at all times. I would gladly suggest this company for any renovations you are considering in the future. I am sure you will be pleased with the experience and the end product. Marty Flemion

I really wanted to like this company. The communication has been terrible from day 1. The crews…read morethat came were very friendly but they would ask us where certain materials were so we were constantly the ones having to call the owner (Rick) or the supervisor (Nathan) to ask them questions for the workers. The supervisor would tell us one thing and the owner would tell us another. No one was on the same page. After the work was completed, I have contacted the owner and supervisor more than 20x to get some things fixed, like cracking walls from where they did drywall too close to my vent system (so now it makes a loud boom sound every time it turns on) and the closet doors being put on the wrong way so we struggle to get them open. I keep being told "I'll put you on the schedule" and we never hear from them. It has been 6 months and still no one has shown up to fix this stuff!!!! I would not recommend.

This time it wasn't the…read morecat getting into mischief--it was a large shelf in our closet giving way after thirty-one years of faithful service. To its credit, the old wire system had lasted decades. But what followed was not just a replacement--it was a complete transformation. We're now standing in a custom-built white oak closet designed and executed by JJ Palmer, and it's one of the finest examples of residential craftsmanship we've ever encountered. Every detail has been carried out with extraordinary care and quiet precision. The workmanship doesn't shout--but it absolutely sings. You see it in every cut and corner. Trim lines are crisp and flush, hand-scribed to imperfect walls so precisely that they seem to have grown there rather than been added. Shelf edges are finished so carefully that all end grain is hidden, and the face grain flows seamlessly across components. Even the angled shoe shelves--normally utilitarian--are grain-matched and gracefully proportioned, elevating function to quiet elegance. The layout itself reveals a deep understanding of proportion and geometry: verticals and horizontals are aligned across bays with rhythmic consistency; trim widths are uniform; spacing feels intentional and calming. Every inch of the system--from the sloped shoe racks to the deeper bay for long dresses and luggage--feels purposeful, balanced, and beautifully made. Nothing is extraneous. It's the kind of design that honors both material and use. JJ selected the materials with a discerning eye: knot-free white oak with straight, harmonious grain, installed in ways that bring out its natural beauty rather than compete with it. Even before stain was applied, the woodwork had presence and refinement. Once finished in a light weathered gray, the result was timeless, tactile, and visually integrated with the rest of the space--including our flooring and natural light conditions. What truly sets JJ apart, though, is not just his technical ability: it's his ethos. We've worked with him before, on projects ranging from a bathroom remodel to a full basement build-out, and each time, he brings the same consistency of quality, professionalism, and quiet pride in his work. He listens well, offers thoughtful solutions, and always delivers what he promises without shortcuts, excuses, or ego. In a world where true craftsmanship often feels like a relic, JJ Palmer is the real thing. We recommend Maryland Home Improvement Company without hesitation, and with deep appreciation

I highly recommend this company. John was incredibly responsive. He called within minutes of my…read morerequest and was able to come out same day for the repairs. He swapped out a leaky sink faucet with a new one, which he ran out and bought himself, saving me a trip to the store. He also replaced our old, degrading water lines. He also fixed our leaky toilet by changing out the flushing mechanism. He completed both projects same day, and was very reasonably priced. I would call him again.

From start to finish,…read moretheir communication, project management, quality of work, and ability to stay on schedule were outstanding. H&C was not the least expensive quote I received, but they also weren't the most expensive. In my experience, the value they delivered more than justified the investment. One of the things I found particularly valuable was the project management app they use. It made it easy to manage the project from end to end, stay informed, review decisions, and keep everything organized in one place. The design phase did take some time, but it was time very well spent. Once we finalized the design, everything moved at a great pace, and the execution was smooth and well coordinated. This was actually my second project with H&C Construction this year, and I am once again very pleased with the results. The fact that I chose to work with them a second time says a lot about my confidence in their team and the quality of their work. I would highly recommend H&C Construction to anyone considering a kitchen remodel. They are professional, organized, communicative, and committed to delivering quality work--and they made what can be a stressful process feel very well managed.

Unfortunately their estimate was fully double the one we got from a different company. Worst part: charging us for things like moving the fridge AND putting it back. If we want the ice maker reconnected, it's more than $100! Insane. And our house is all electric (no gas) but they're charging us to reconnect the gas line! I can't imagine how much people overlook when choosing this company. It's too bad, too, because they were our first choice. Not anymore.
