First time at Tin City with great friends. Tried many different wine tasting rooms but LOVED Powell Mountain Cellars the best! Bill was so inviting and informative of his wines. We highly recommend coming to Powell for a tasting and a bottle to take home.

This is a new location for Powell Mountain Cellars and Kim and Bill have done a great job setting up a comfortable and casual venue for tasting their wines. Powell Mountain offers nine varieties of wine with my favorite being the Cabernet Sauvignon. Bill is very knowledgeable and is able to answer any questions regarding the wines they serve. If you have any special requests, Kim is a great hostess and will always do her best to accommodate. I highly recommend dropping by or setting up an appointment to go by Powell Mountain Cellars if you are in Paso Robles and are interested in doing any wine tasting!

Powell Mountain Cellars 9/17/16. We loved all 4 we tasted, and went home with the 2011 Alma Montana and 2010 Pinnacle Reserve.

We found Powell Mountain Cellars by chance through Yelp. We were looking for wine rooms we hadn't visited before, and this one had 5 stars so we decided to give it a try based solely on Yelp reviews. We hoped for the best and our hopes were happily met! The wine room is small, casual, and friendly. Bill and Kim Powell, the owners/winemakers, greeted us and poured the wines we tasted. They are warm and engaging, encouraging guests to chat with one another. And the wines are good. Actually better than good. There wasn't one wine we didn't enjoy. We ended up buying two bottles because we couldn't decide on just one. This is definitely a place we'd feel comfortable recommending to friends, and e look forward to visiting again next time we're in town.

Today, Thursday , they have wines by the glass for $5! What an incredible deal. Since I drink only white wines, I was able to get a generous sample of 3 different wines for less than a tasting! Wines are good but not as good as I remembered before they sold the winery. We had the Diavola pizza and the Porchetta sandwich. The pizza was delicious. The sandwich was pretty good but it was a little dry. We also ended our lunch with a lovely tiramisu. The tiramisu was moist with the right amount of alcohol and cream. Just delicious. Service was great. The staff are very friendly. My son has a dairy allergy and can't have the cheese on regular pizzas. The chef was very accommodating and allowed us to bring in our specially wrapped vegan cheese to use on his pizza. Thank you for this accommodation! The eatery was very calming and was a wonderful way to spend our lunch hour. They did not rush us and we felt very welcomed. Definitely will be back here again.

Once I heard what happened I was more sad but happy to hear the new owner wants to continue Vina Robles. I wish as a member I would have gotten notified. Went to their new location which was really convenient since we were going to other wineries near there. It's still a big location. Plenty of seating and they still offer food which we were happy about. Our server was super sweet and knowledgeable which I always appreciate when it comes to wine. We started a tasting and then just tried whatever she gave us which we weren't complaining. Haha. All the wine she was giving us was really good. I was really impressed by their food. I wanted more of everything. We got their bruschetta al Fresco, hummus, monte Bianca pizza, and one other pizza. I fell in love with their bruschetta. We got there right as there kitchen closed which was a bummer because I wanted more. Overall, I still enjoy their wine. Their location is really nice. Food is delicious. I will conintue being a member and will stop by anytime I am in the area.

We are the type of members who always take great care of the staff and rarely leave without purchasing extra bottles, yet today we were treated like an inconvenience. Despite being told in the past that spontaneous visits were no problem for members, we were turned away on a gloomy Monday with plenty of open tables. The host at the entrance was incredibly dismissive and wouldn't even let us finish our sentence before cutting us off. We were told our only options were to come back in an hour, a "limited" tasting, drive all the way downtown, or just pick up our shipment and leave. We asked for the Wine Club Manager to resolve the situation, but she wasn't on-site. To be offered a "partial" tasting as a favor after nearly ten years of support was the final straw. It feels as though they now prioritize "closing" new members over honoring the people who have supported them for years. They've gone mainstream and lost the personal touch that made them special.

Quality/Quantity - After tasting a few wines, I settled on a glass of Pinot Noir. Atmosphere - Small tasting room, bar, indoor, and outdoor seating. Plus tasting. Got lucky, as today they were bottling so we got to experience that a little. And due to the small size, they bottle via a trailer; see pictures. Plenty of Tin City parking, as we got here late and right before closing. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 5pm. Service - Emma was perfect. As usual, we were the only customers. We got all the attention. It felt like we were all just hanging out. (Or she was just so bored, lol). She shared so much information about the winery and Paso Robles. We compared stories and wineries, etc. Lastly, she gave us a tour of the facility as the production just ended. This was unexpected and really appreciated. Price - $18 + generous tip. I just got a glass of their Pinot Noir. Tastings are $20 a person and waived with two bottle purchases. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success at this location since 2019. I can see why you are 5 stars; great service culture.

The patio is a beautiful spot to taste, and if you're there later in the day, the sunset views are hard to beat. Definitely do the free cave tour while you're there. It's one of the coolest winery tours I've been on. The caves are a massive labyrinth carved into the hillside and naturally stay around 55 degrees year round, which is where they age a lot of their wine before bottling. Even if you've been to a lot of wineries, this is something a little different. At the time I'm writing this, tastings are still complimentary, which is almost unheard of these days. If you go, do them a favor and leave with a bottle or two. That's how places like this are able to keep offering experiences like this, and honestly, you'll probably want to take some wine home anyway.
