I went in looking for a cover up tattoo. First he said "who did it? They can't cover it up " then he said he would only do a large tattoo over it and it would be bold and have his style, and to make sure that I liked his stuff and that he didn't do small tattoos, then I told him that I work at tdc and I would prefer not to have a large tattoo on my arm to which he said "f them, get a different job, that's like working for the cops" then he proceeded to tell me to get a bunch of ideas together and he could do something...thanks but no thanks... it just seems like common sense to me that if you are putting a tattoo on someone that they will have for the rest of their life you would at least let them pick the size of it..terrible customer service skills, and very arrogant. And yes it was powerhouse tattoo, the review was based on my experience which happened on March 2. On March 14th I went to flow style ink and they did a BEAUTIFUL job of covering it up. She did so great and it is litterally no bigger than the one I had before. She used white ink and instead of working against it she found a flower that was almost the same shape and used the tattoo that was there before to create a to create depth. On a side note I just don't think telling someone f*** their job because working there is like working for the police really constitutes as a necessary opinion when it comes to talking about a tattoo coverup. "I don't do small tattoos" is not the same as saying that the tattoo is going to be a little bigger because it's a cover up. I honestly expected that it would have to be somewhat bigger but flow style exceeded my expectations in that they were able to come up with a design that fit almost perfectly over the top of my original tattoo and actually managed to take a tattoo I hated and made me love it. He looked at it, recognized thay he wasn't able to do what I was asking for. I can respect that he knew his limitations, I can even appreciate that. In fact he was not the only one who looked at it and said they didnt think they could do it. Several places I went to felt like it couldn't be done. Flow style was the ONLY place that felt confident that they could do it. And they didn't disappoint. But the added insults about my job, that I happen to love, was highly offensive and unnecessary. read more

05/25: I've had my tattoo from them for a while. When I first got it done, it looked awful. It's words, and it looked pretty terrible. I wanted a refund and I was gonna get it removed, but they apparently don't do refunds. When I went to get it fixed, they had to make thicker lines and it looks too thick now. I wish I could have just gotten a refund and been done with it. 07/25: I just called to ask them a question and the first time they picked up, i couldn't hear anything then they hung up. So i called again and when he answered I said "hi sorry, I think you picked up before, I just couldn't hear anything" and his response was "well, that's your problem, what do you need?" Jason did a portrait of my dad sometime back and looking forward to getting my mom done within the next week or so. Amazing talent. I recently started my tattoo with Amanda and she has been amazing through the whole process. She did a TON of research on the species of bird I wanted a tattoo of and created the most beautiful, accurate, personalized tattoo for me. I haven't even gotten the color in, and I've already gotten so many compliments on the tattoo. I definitely recommend Powerhouse Ink. It's an easy drive from Houston, too! i had booked an appointment a couple months in advance and had found out i was moving last minute and had contacted amanda and kindly stated that if she had any open space from other clients dropping that i would gladly take them if permitted. i had even included if she had open slots that i would drop another deposit fee. she has gotten back to me and told me HER available days where SHE COULD fit me in. thursday she had said she was going to draw a sketch and get back to me sunday came & i had gotten no response. with considering that she was about 70 miles away i had seen no response and kindly told her i had to cancel because she has yet confirmed & i didn't call off work. then she responded and told me she was busy prior and told me i could come in, then i had said i was on the way. then she responded with a nasty email. beginning it with, "honestly i'm not interested in tattooing you." (after she literally said i'm available from 1-9 if you've like to come in.) stating i had made things too complicated for her, i had woken her up out of her sleep when i sent my email this morning to her after she had spent all night up until 5am doing the sketch & stated my intentions were to call her untrusted worthy to do my tattoo. never did i once hop out of character or disrespect her in any way by all means nor were any of me emails intending that. yet i am to blame when i was never emailed back with a response. never did i receive a hey i'm working on the sketch, or a see you tomorrow, nothing. after that i had still kept it professional and apologized even though i hadn't disrespected her in any way and she blocked me. $50 deposit taken & i was blocked. not to mention that prior to this i was being patient and respectful of her time when she would respond to my emails days later. i still believe that amanda's work is great. i still will not get or be disrespectful or speak down on her but from a professional business perspective my experience with her just was not great. it may be different than other customers but this was strange to me and quite disrespectful considering that i was nothing but respectful to her and i was on her time schedule. read more
