Do not do this yourself. All types of hidden and extra fees and if you don't inquire, you won't know until its time to pay. I ended up canceling with them after they moved my mother in law and ended up charging her an arm and a leg for stupid things like unmounting TVs and wrapping. It has now been several days of me requesting my deposit money back with literally no response. This was my first move in almost 20 years from a house to a small apartment and looking online at companies gave too many red flags. Got a positive referral to Powerhouse Moving and the phone call with them was also positive so went with them. The move was major with a lot of boxes so I'd been up since 2 a.m. the morning of move to ensure everything was packed. Got a call from Egypt Magician at 7:45 a.m. and informed the team of 3 needed would arrive shortly-only 2 did. When I called the apartment property I was told there was a problem and in light of the issue which would extend the move so gave them their tip up front before we left the house. It was a long move-making it expensive-and exhausting, so when they said they were done (without showing the truck was empty) I took them at their word. BTW, me and a family member who was with me for the entire move returned to the home later that afternoon to prep for the owner's upcoming take-over of house-everything I packed was gone. Took a couple weeks to unpack and in the course saw everything didn't make it - also there was damage to one item. Called Powerhouse letting them know and texted a photo of the damage. Called 2 weeks later for follow-up and re-texted photo; called a week later left voice mail, spoke 2 weeks later with who later turned out to be the Office Manager who even asked me did the team show me the empty truck-and would refer this to her supervisor. Called again December 3d but she wasn't in at that time. Just received letter over the weekend from the Office Manager which included the following: "Our policy, as well as all moving companies in the State of Texas, is to follow the $0.60 per pound replacement/repair rule...Therefore, $0.60 times 3 pounds equals $1.80...We have exhaustively searched...and have not located a box matching your descriptions...We are not legally obligated to reimburse you for missing items and therefore deny that portion of your claim...I have enclosed a check in the amount of $5.00 for the damage...This amount exceeds what we are legally obligated to pay..." This move cost me a few dollars short of $800.00 but the loss of some items that were my mom's is worse. When you pay this much for a move, not across the country but across town, and everything doesn't get there and this is the remedy they say I'm entitled to because they indicated what I said was untrue? read more

We made the mistake of hiring Powerhouse and there were things left in almost every room that we had to move ourselves for days afterwards...full drawers and cabinets, even wall hangings. Exhausting! Many of the workers said it was their first day, and clearly they had no training. They had no idea which room the furniture went to, so I was made supervisor of about 10 guys. One "day worker" told me my chaise was sexy, and another was calling me Baby. The experienced guys knew what they were doing. None of them had water to drink in this terrible heat, and my furniture was wet with their sweat. I had my grandsons pass out water bottles to them. Ebrahaim (owner) started putting together our bed, and I suggested we put the rug down first. He told me everything had been delivered and told me to check every room in the house to find it! My family ended up lifting 2 king beds ourselves to put the rugs under them. That afternoon he announced he was done, and ready to go home. My husband told him they were only about 80% done and we would pay him 80%,...so he was forced to keep putting beds together in order to get paid. We were very, very disappointed in the service we received. It seems this job was more than they could handle. read more

Unfortunately, having to leave a poor review based off refusal to refund overcharge hours & misquoted for a 1 bedroom (798sq ft. Apt) + 1 car Garage move from the Heights to Spring, TX. The owner, Dana was initially very kind selling the company and setting up the move until it came to tracking her down about being over charged by 4 hours and $500 later after my move. Her tone & attitude changed quickly. Long story long, my move was push from 8am to 7pm due to a worker not showing up and a truck down. I initially scheduled for 3 workers to help for a faster move since I needed to be out of my apartment by end of day. Which was addressed for concern to the owner. When the movers arrived at 6:45pm, I was informed my items would not all fit in one truck. No one came to do an in person quote. The owner's husband came out with another truck as a curtsey to help make the move go faster. He was very kind to prorate my initial rate from $175 to $155 and told me he would waive the service charge due to the inconveniences from the delayed services and having to bring another truck unexpectedly. The men ended about 11:15pm -- to which I still needed to return to my former apt to clean and return keys by midnight. Paying the invoice to the lead worker, he stated I being charged for 8 hours even though they started at 6:45pm - 11:15pm. (5 hours) I paid thinking I would call Dana at a later date to reconcile the issue due to it being so late and the workers were exhausted from the day they had. NOTE ** THE WORKERS WERE HARD WORKING AND VERY KIND MEN ** I tipped them extra in cash and offered cold refreshments while working to try and show my gratitude. After several attempts, The owner returned my call but was less than pleasant on the phone. After explaining the situation and how I was told the extra truck was a curtesy to assist, she stated how I was the problem, how I just wanted to complain, and had too much stuff; She didn't misquote me. She stated, "maybe or maybe not I would be getting a refund on the overcharged hours", per the invoice. She continued to rudely criticize me with additional hypothetical scenario's. A much different tone than the woman who sold the move to me from the start. The men's works ethic that day was great, especially considering the day they had in the July heat. However, this is a business and it's the principle. I was never informed of a 2nd truck needed or five men (per invoice it is crossed out). Hired the company to move us into an apt since we sold our home so we can move to a better school district. There are several things that were awful when it came the 3 men who moved us but the main thing that frustrated me was the tv. Wife emailed this company and they haven't emailed back but I know it's because they don't want to accept responsibility even though I know they have insurance for instances like this. Just let this be a lesson that if you have nice electronics like a 65"+ Samsung tv just move it yourself. I think the movers were just tired after 2.5 hours of moving and stopped caring. Also my front loader Samsung washer and dryer have scuffs on them as well but I'm not even stressed about it anymore. I just know who I won't hire when we buy our new home in the future. I never really leave reviews but when something is not right I speak up just like I do for my patients. Don't let the 5 star reviews fool you. The crew we got just didn't care. Wish I would've looked at these reviews before I booked with this company. The owner, Dana, knows how to be sweet and accommodating when selling the job until the service failures start. Then she becomes callous and condescending. She made a site visit to my home and surveyed my needs. When you hire a "professional" moving company you defer to them to guide you. She went through each room and made her recommendation of their 26' truck and 3 movers. She followed up with a text outlining my two options of two trucks; a 26' with 3 men and a 30' with 5 movers, including her "magician husband" who can "pack a truck and a half into one 26' truck". I also used their packers who also surveyed my home and attic and suggested I upgrade to their 30' truck. I called immediately to upgrade to the 30' truck and was told it wasn't available until the following week pushing my move a day before my closing on my home. It made me nervous but Dana assured me that if they started at 8 am they would be done by noon and my cleaners could come in the afternoon. The day of the move a 26' truck shows up (not the 30' truck I waited a week for)with 3 movers (not 5) and no sign of the "magician". I waited almost a week for the larger truck and 5 movers and got what I would've gotten a week earlier and could've alleviated the stress with my closing the next day. I was told two different stories as to why I didn't get the larger truck so someone lied to me and was lacking 2 extra men. No phone call the day of to tell me about the failure instead I had to call Dana and was met with her telling me she never said anything about 5 movers. That was corrected with a screenshot of her message as a reminder. The movers showed up after 8:30 even knowing my time constraint and my move took 14 hours. Yes there was a lot of stuff. But I relied on a professional mover to give me an accurate assessment and recommendation. We were lucky to finish before midnight let alone 12 noon. Add to that the men who did show up were aggravated that my move was so severely under planned and as a result a lot of my things are broken from being mishandled by hot, tired and aggravated moving men. I haven't even gone through 1/4 of my things yet but so far I am heartbroken at the number of damaged and broken items I'm finding. I had to correct the guys several times as my boxes were slammed down like a football. Moving 101 is act like every box contains fragile breakables. While I felt sorry for them, I was mortified at the way they offloaded my items. I have to hire another moving company to come move my boxes around to the correct rooms as the garage became the dumping ground for most of it. . I don't recommend this company even though their packers were nice ladies. Moving is stressful enough without multiple service failures the day of. Because of the incompetence I had to delay my cleaning and closing and will incur more expense having to get help to move the boxes to the correct rooms. Choose wisely. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!!! We hired them to move us from one house to another in the same neighborhood at the end of June. We hired them by the hour as it was not a huge move. We had the house painted and new carpet installed the day before the movers were coming to move us. We asked the movers to take a treadmill from upstairs to downstairs as it was left by the previous homeowner. Not only were they not able to move it, they damaged two rooms of carpet, dragging it across the brand new carpet and didn't bother to come tell us what they did, leaving the treadmill at the top of the stairs, blocking the path. When we found what their movers left us, we contacted the owners immediately to which they responded and came the same day. They apologized, moved the treadmill down the stairs and agreed to pay to have the carpet replaced. We immediately contacted the carpet layers who had completed the job less than 24 hours earlier for a price and requested they come for a quote. As it was new carpet, we did not want a patch job and they did not recommend it. The quote was $950. We sent all information to PHM, and after a month and a half, we receive a check for $300! This is not acceptable! Had they handled the incident as they said they would, but we are disgusted and will NOT recommend this company AT ALL. Bad customer service! Bad company!!! I should have looked at their reviews!!!! So many unhappy customers. Definitely get what you pay for. Cheap quote isn't always the best!!! NEVER SUPPORT DISHONEST PEOPLE! Don't bother using them. They have no idea what they're doing. I hired them to pickup and deliver a fridge and washer dryer set. They ripped up my brand new flooring and tried to repair it, but only made it worse. There were two places I had to get repaired. The mover and their scheduler both committed to reimburse me, but then when I sent the bill, they never responded. If you like to work with liars and scammers, call them. I used Powerhouse Moving and Storage for my move from Texas to Georgia in July 2024. The initial set up and contract process went smoothly. The company delivered my furniture and boxes and upon putting things up, I realized that the ergonomic chair I used for my desk was jammed and not working. The chair is expensive ($1,600) as all ergonomic chairs generally are. I have carpal tunnel (had surgery two years ago) and disc problems in my neck and back therefore me sitting comfortably while working each day is important. I reached out as soon as I realized the issue to the owner and since I could reach her, I spoke with another employee I had been in touch with during the moving set up process. I paid these people $9,000 as agreed at the beginning of the move and the end of the move as they sold themselves on "taking care of the customer" and they also have insurance for damaged items. It took a couple of days of me trying to reach the employee and Dana, one of the owners to let them know my chair was damaged. They asked for pictures and cost of replacement which I provided. Dana, sent me a nasty text message telling me they weren't going to replace my "expensive chair" ) (exactly what she said). I told her I would be seeking legal assistance. An attorney in Atlanta sent the company two letters to which Powerhouse flat out ignored. I am filing a complaint with the BBB as they have had 9 months to respond and rectify the issue. Do NOT use this company as they do NOT honor their insurance. Note, they literally jam items in the trucks. They also damaged my bike however I didn't even mention that to them as it's an older bike and the value is minimal. When you know a person depends on an item that is used daily and is used for medical purposes and it's broken by your company you are a very dishonorable company and person to not replace the item. read more

On the morning of my move in date, I'd discovered that I was not placed back on the schedule during the previous week like I'd been told. I had to find same day movers to help me, and get my deposit back from this company due to their lack of organization. Our experience with Powerhouse was unbelievably bad. In our opinion, our furnishings and home were treated slam bam and cram. We experienced thousands of dollars in damage to our furnishings and home. We went to extra effort to find fair pricing for repairs. In fact, we had bids for approximately twice the amount we submitted to Powerhouse. The owners even accused us of submitting "exorbitant and extremely unreasonable" pricing. They rudely stated "never once did you mention furniture damage, not during the move nor after". Wrong, we did discuss damage prior to submitting our invoices and repair estimates. In addition, they wrote " We accept no responsibility for this damage". They sent us a check a check for $355.00 to cover repairs to our home and as a refund for overcharging us for fuel charges. I found this company on Angie's List and decided to go with them because they said that they guaranteed their prices. This was important to me because I am on a budget. I first talked to Dana, told her how many bedrooms, and advised that the new home was a beach house, so things would need to be carried up the stairs. Over the phone Dana gave me an estimate of $1300. She said for an exact quote, they would need to come out and look. I asked for them to come out, because I wanted an exact quote and did not want to be surprised by a price increase. Ebrahim came out to the home, looked at all of our belongings, opened cupboards and saw exactly what we had. After looking everything over he advised that they would be able to fit everything in one 24' truck "easily". We were given an "exact" quote of $1700 and we signed a contract on this price. On moving day, Ebrahim and his team showed up 2 hours earlier than expected, which made the morning a bit more hectic. They began loading the truck and filled it up, but all of our things would not fit. Ebrahim told us that they would need a second truck and that would cost us an additional $650. Ebrahim also said that he did not know the items were going to a beach house and would need to be taken upstairs. I was very clear to Dana about this and she acknowledged that she knew it would be upstairs and that she had told Ebrahim of this previously. I'm not sure if they miscommunicated with each other or Ebrahim just forgot. During the move Ebrahim was not very professional and kept saying things like "you have too much stuff". We did not hide anything from him, so it was offensive. At that point, most of our belongings were already loaded up and we had to be out of our rental home within the next two days. We did not have time to contract someone else on such short notice and the stress of moving was already difficult. We felt like we were stuck with no other option than to pay the additional money, even though the $1700 price was "guaranteed". After the move was completed, I reached back out to Dana to tell her how I felt about the situation, and that we were not happy with the extra cost. At first Dana was sympathetic and seemed to agree that we should not have been charged more. Ebrahim was supposed to come out and talk to my husband about it, but he never showed up. I was texting Dana after this and told her that we would be happy with just a partial refund of the $650, and did not expect all of it back. We thought this was a fair compromise for both parties. Dana asked how much of a refund we wanted and I stated $350. Dana replied via text "Ok - I will get with you tomorrow. I can send a check this week." Dana never followed up the next day but a few days later we received a check in the mail for $200, accompanied with a letter justifying the up-charge, which read very unprofessional. All this is to say that if you need a guaranteed quote, you should not go with this company. They did not stand by their word whatsoever, and then were unprofessional and frankly rude in some of their interactions. read more

Avoid at all cost!! The owner is irate always yelling at his employees even when they do a task the customer specifically asks. He is a know it all and will argue with you if you want to put something somewhere he doesn't like. His pricing fluctuates and he has even had the cops called on him when he tried to change a flat rate deal at the very end of the move on a very nice lady and made her cry. He robs his employees for the mistakes of others and often sends them to jobs they are not properly staffed to do. If you are so daring and do schedule a job ask for his crew and for him to not join them that's the only way you'll get a semi decent move. I promise this is not slander I have evidence to back each of my claims and will only stop spreading this truth until they pay me the money they took (without telling me) for a mistake I didn't make! read more

Called in complaint to their mgmt office. Driver Michael - Truckplate SARHAN2. Then the 3 moving guys proceed to stand behind my vehicle.. They didn't stand next to their vehicle, or next to the person that contacted them, instead they lined up stand behind my tailgate In a threatening manner.. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! The company was late from the initial estimate through the entire move - scheduled times, but showed up approx 2 hours late every day. We have moved six times in the last eight years, so we know how the process goes and how many trucks it will take. They did not listen to my experienced advice and ended up not being able to fit everything in the UHAUL trucks they brought. Ended up needing two trailers attached to the trucks, which caused further delay. This was very frustrating, as we had a very long drive ahead of us. My husband's circular saw was hastily thrown in (loose) next to our unwrapped, solid wood dining set, which caused severe damage to the dining set. Brand new bedroom furniture had the bun feet broken and stripped so that they no longer function properly - in addition to dents and marks all over the furniture. Our hardwood floors were damaged, since they did not use any floor protectors - even though we requested them. My daughter's art supplies were dropped on our floor rug and literally rolled inside of it, causing red and black stains all over it. Our $400 LEGO Cinderella Castle was dismantled and several pieces were lost, as Dana (the wife of the mover) did not follow my instructions to move it. Even after I explained how I wanted it packed, she simply brought several sections of it to me and said, "The LEGOs weren't glued, so several pieces fell off." No one glues LEGOs, which is why I had explained how to package it. Two TVs were placed in one box - unwrapped, with the back of one facing the screen of the other. The screen was obviously damaged. They even asked how many TVs we had and their sizes, but did not bring the correct number of boxes for them. Dana also did not order the number of wardrobe boxes her husband (the main mover) told her to, so many of my formal gowns were wadded and placed in normal boxes. One velvet gown was crushed beyond repair. My daughter's makeup was found by us in our driveway, and $30 hairspray sprayed the contents of a box, so they threw it away (although they did tell us they had thrown it out). This could have been prevented by packing things with an ounce of care. A Damp Rid container full of liquid was placed in a box of bathroom items and spilled all over everything. We provided moving locks for our new washing machine, but they were not used. Thankfully it still works. A 21 year old glass slipper from Disney was broken due to it being wrapped in a single sheet of paper along with many shells and a ceramic bowl. It had survived FIFTEEN moves until this group got their hands on it. The sheer lack of courtesy and care should be enough to dissuade anyone from using this company. The fact that the owner constantly shouts at his contacted help and told me (the customer) not to tip certain individuals should also clue people in to why they should avoid this company. I have been waiting two weeks to even hear any information on the claim for my damages, and when I asked where things stood, Dana told me to "be patient." If I had ANY communication from her about the claim, that would have been nice. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!! read more

Just recently moved two miles and what an expensive move. We had so much stuff to move that I am surprised that they were able to move it. However we spent the next two days moving the left behind garage items. The issues that I have with this company is that they are overcharging, more than 50% non professional movers who crammed all our stuff, put in the wrong room, or packed and unpacked(don't pay for this service!), so poorly. The owner leaned on me to tip the crew and even had problems with my amount. Perhaps he should pay better. They tore up our new place being careless. Left the old place in great condition, though. The owner even refused to take apart an IKEA bed that was not difficult. They also quoted too conservatively needing another trip which the owner "gave me a deal" on. I cannot recommend this company based upon price, professionalism or attitude from the owner. Look elsewhere or you'll be disappointed. read more
