Excellent, prompt service. I was impressed immediately at the friendly customer service, the appearance of order and cleanliness of their shop and very happy with their Service Advisor. Every question and concern I had were answered and explained in detail. Estimate was discussed and final bill was close but actually less than I expected. I initially just dropped by to discuss my needs and made an initial appointment for an annual vehicle inspection. Upon my return visit following their initial inspection I was informed of necessary repairs and estimated cost were discussed. I was offered an appointment a few days later to drop my vehicle off in the evening and the Service advisor called me early the next afternoon reporting repairs were all completed as well as an oil change I requested. When I picked up the car I was informed of an ongoing issue that needs to be paid attention to at this time and told this will require future repair but isn't absolutely necessary at this time. I felt my bill was very reasonable, service was very prompt and my overall experience with this shop was great. I hope to be a regular customer for all my automobile needs and recommend them highly. Found this shop on Yelp and phoned and a very professional gentleman named Tony answered. My 19 year old Granddaughter Hayleigh had a Headlight out on her 2018 Toyota; of course she panicked and was convinced she was about to be pulled over by the Powhatan police and ticketed. Toyota Service turned her away ( my daughter purchased 4 vehicles there btw) , so on a hunch I called Powhatan Auto Repair. My wife has been going here on a regular basis, not anymore. She recently came in for an oil change, a tire patch, that was double the industry average cost, and a laundry list of other BS surcharges, etc. To give you a few examples, the simple patch alone on 1 tire cost almost as much as a new tire itself (46% of a new Firestone tire)! And the cost of tire rotation was 40% higher than local auto shops!! They saw my little wife come in and instantly dubbed her as a sucker. On top of that, they failed my wife's inspection, as she needed rear brakes and new tires. I had her email me the service ticket and told her to stop immediately. After calling several competitors, both local to Powhatan, BOTH companies were dramatically lower than these crooks. The company we went with saved us a little over $200 for better tires with the same service with a free sticker/inspection! Always ask these guys for an itemized list of products/services. Been taking my vehicles there for many years. These folkes run a clean, fair, honest shop. They are quick depending on getting parts, but they generally are very fast and reasonable. Their knowledge is great and often times offer suggestions to save money. They have a great front counter person and great mechanics that know their stuff. Things can add up though and they try not to use cheap parts for quality purposes. They will evaluate and give you a price before doing the work. They easily could create work on your car but knowing a few of them from long a go. That's not them. They do really good work and again, can find and solve almost every car issue. I believe they install engines too. This is important for vehicles I own. Also, I believe if the local tow shop.hauls your car to them, they pay the tow driver and add to your bill. Not 100% on that but think so. Highly recommend this place for automotive needs. read more

Butch and Tony are about as honest as they come. What I consider when selecting a shop are, how long have they been in business and how busy they are. Powhatan passes both tests as they have been working on my cars for 15 years and the shop is always busy. As busy as they are they have enough mechanics to get you in and out very quickly.
