The prices are comparable to other service shops, but their customer service is what drives my family here! Many members of our family and friends come here and word of mouth is spreading! I just picked up my car, and I can already tell it is soooo much better. It was a fairly pricey repair, but they went above and beyond the call of duty by replacing broken brackets and re-fastening the shields on the exhaust pipe, replacing a missing tensioner bolt and several other repairs in addition to the original problems with the steering and belts. They even fixed whatever was causing the "bonk" under the foot well! Thanks to the team at Preston's, the rattles are gone, and my much-loved Subaru Forester is now the smooth, quiet ride it used to be. read more

I love this place. I have had many cars and used many different automotive repair shops. Preston's is the best of all of them. Last year my wife's car was making a bad thud when you turned sharply left or right and we took it to two other auto mechanic shops and they charged us over a hundred dollars each for the repairs, but it was never fixed. I brought the car over to Preston's for an inspection and the mechanic there said that the motor mount bolts were shot and they replaced them for a reasonable price and the thud was gone. Dropping the stars level, since they did the auto-repair version of the Heisman (translation: banging me in the forehead with an outstretched hand to prevent forward motion) by trying to convince me that all (3) of my catalytic converters needed to be replaced, to the tune of $3,000. Had the car towed to an expert in deepest Chester (OY!), who effected the repair well for less than $1,000. I'm out, even though these guys are wicked convenient. I have been taking my cars here for 8 years - and i have had some real lemons, so I have been a frequent customer. I will no longer use them as my mechanic. I dropped my car off last night because it started making a horrible noise and had no pick up. Today, they called to tell my that my engine was shot. Totally obliterated due to an oil leak. Well, I had taken my car in a few months ago because i suspected an oil leak and they couldn't find one. I have been putting oil in my car often since then, but apparently not enough. So...frequent customer, long-time customer, referred many people to them, and an engine blown due to an oil leak they couldn't find. And they decided it would be smart to charge me $15 for three quarts of oil they put in it seeing if it would work. I explained to them all of the above (frequent, long-term, missed leak) and asked them to remove the charge. They refused. Charging me that $15 lost them thousands - and i mean thousands - of future revenue since i have to go buy another lemon now because i'm poor. read more

My husband and I have been taking our cars here for several years. Our cars are old and could very easily be picked apart for work that needs to be done. Preston's never does that to us. They are honest about what really needs done and we never feel taken advantage of. They are always busy, so repairs take a little bit of time, but Steve is always friendly and accommodating. Prices are fair also. We have moved out of the area and still bring our vehicles here. read more
