I'm not sure why the reviews are so low for this place, sometimes I think someone catches someone on a bad day and as a result it ruins their initial experience. But anyways, I just got a mens cut here the other day and I couldn't be more pleased. My stylist was friendly, cared about what I wanted and engaged in conversation the entire time. The staff who I had interactions with were very polite and kind as well. The receptionist was friendly too. I'm not sure if $35 for a mens cut is a lot or not but it was well worth it as far as I am concerned. I never had a problem with their front desk, so I am not sure what those reviews are about. Hallelujah!! I have honestly never been more satisfied about my hair. Going blonde from being brunette usually ends in a nightmare of an experience (orange hair) but for the first time in my whole life I have blonde hair! I saw Carmen, a senior stylist who was recommended to me by the receptionist. I have long, straight, thinnish hair. Carmen did an excellent job ... she was professional and listened to what I wanted. She also made some recommendations, which I really appreciated. She embraced my low-maintenance style and we are on a long-term plan to manage my hair. Today was my first visit at this salon. My appointment was with Kristen, and she was GREAT! Very friendly, and professional. She spent time with me prior to the cut to learn what kind of style I was looking for, she didn't rush me, and made sure I was comfortable with the plan before she proceeded. This salon was recommended to me by my friend, so I decided to give it a try. I have blonde hair with highlights which means every time I would go to different salons the final result sometimes would turn out to be a major disappointment due to inexperienced stylists. So after doing research I made appointment with Ismail(reviews state he is very good with blonde hair) and yes, those reviews turned out to be 100 percent true !!!! I was in desperate need of cut and color and highlights. Ismail made my hair looking PERFECT--- the color, the cut were awesome, I was very very happy. Besides being a great stylist, Ismail is very pleasent and friendly person. Can't imagine going to someone else for services. So 5 stars to Ismail, thank you !! My experience at PR was great!! I was referred by a friend to go to Cristina. She did an amazing job. She's really laid back and was helpful while answering all my questions about products. Her suggestions were on point as well. I am always nervous during cuts and this being my first time with her, made me even more nervous. However, there was nothing to worry about. She had done everything I had asked. I left with a perfect cut and some great products that are working wonders on my hair. read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE experience. I will NEVER come back here again due to one person- WINSTON. Do NOT come to this PR Partners or if you do do NOT see WINSTON! I had called to set up an appointment for ombre and they told me I needed to come in for a consultation so they can figure out how to book me- the only person with availability for days was Winston- which should have been my first red flag. I scheduled my appointment for 5:30 pm. There was horrible traffic on the way over so I called and let them know I would be 5-10 min late to which the girl at the front counter told me was absolutely no problem and that everyone was running late. I arrived at 5:38 and was told Winston was with someone else and led me over to sit right beside him. They walked over and informed him I had arrived and he looked over and gave me an obnoxious glare (this was the only acknowledgement I received from him). I was a little taken aback to say the least. I sat patiently and watched the time go by- 45 min later I still had not been seen by ANYONE nor had anyone from the front desk come over to make sure I was doing ok. At this point I got up and went to the front to ask how much longer it would be and that I had been waiting for upwards of 45 minutes- they were very apologetic and someone went to see what was taking Winston so long since he had gone into another room. They came back telling me that it would be another 15 minutes and that he had apparently told me to come in at a later time (which was completely untrue or else I never would have left work early). I asked to be seen by someone else and they said he was the only one available. At this point I was beyond frustrated and just told them to cancel the whole thing and left. I did not receive a follow up call apologizing for their stylists rude behavior or anything of the sort. Needless to say I will NEVER be coming back here- I will stick with the PR Partners I normally go to. read more

She took time to look at pictures and understand what went wrong with my disaster prior experience (not at this salon). She explained the process and it came out very nice. Anyone considering this place needs to reconsider. PR Partners in McLean gets great ratings, so I thought it would ne natural that the one in Reston would be a decent place to go. How wrong I was. It all started by the LYING RECEPTIONIST (WHO ARE YOUNG AND TOTALLY UNSUITABLE FOR THAT POSITION). When I made my appointment, I went into great detail about how important my hair is to me and that I needed a makeover..someone senior that knew what they were doing. I was told that this stylist has 7 years of experience and that she's considered a "senior stylist" and the only reason she was still "mid-level" was that she opted to not increase her rates last go round.....I thought to myself "fair enough" and made the appointment based on this information. I get there and the place was extremely uncozy....you get no privacy here. It's busy as in small and chaotic, and I was greeted with DIRTY LOOKS from most of the staff members, who I recognized based on the website profiles. ....Yana being the WORST of them all.....They are RUDE, unprofessional, immature and my stylist was no exception...she barely said a word to me and anything I asked or said was ignored or answered with an attitude as if I am not entitled to know what she is doing with MY HAIR. I asked for one thing and got another...I got the WRONG COLOR AND THE WRONG CUT..the cut was very unskillfully done and I knew that just observing her..very few pieces came off for the cut I wanted and she has no razoring skills, she basically used scissors in a very standard fashion and short precision cuts require way more of an effort. I left with just that..a choppy cut..uneven particularly in the back and my hair is THREE COLORS. I specifically asked for the back to be tapered and that wasn't even done......it's a MESS and the uneven layers show with my light hair which defeats the purpose of trying to obtain a PROFESSIONAL STYLE. She kept applying patches of color to certain areas during the process and I assumed she knew what she was doing but that's what I ended up with..patches of uneven color. What's worse is that I simply asked for a one-process color..she INSISTED that I would get the same end result with a TONER which I told her NEVER HAS WORKED OUT IN THE PAST AT ALL - she did not listen to me at all. To add insult to injury, my hair was HALF CUT WET before a color job which in 20 years of me going monthly for hair color anywhere, no one has applied color AFTER A CUT, she STYLES MY HAIR to then finish CUTTING IT DRY (which is a major no no) AFTER IT WAS STYLED, so the STYLE ENDED UP RUINED and as a result I have uneven layers in the areas she cut my hair DRY. I mentioned to her she FLATTENED MY HAIR OUT by doing this and again, with an attitude, she round brushed it again, taking up more of my time and by then it was just ruined. I GET MY HAIR DONE TO GET IT STYLED NICE.....NOT TO WALK OUT WITH A JUST BLOW DRIED AT HOME LOOK WITH NO EFFORT. This is the worst cut and color I have ever had - I am afraid to wash this out - it's horrendous. I asked for a very PLAIN AND STANDARD STYLE...A BOB. I did not get a bob. I ended up with a choppy mess and there is nothing about this cut that is a bob. NOTHING. Also, they make you fill out paperwork when you go in so that they can know how you want to be massaged and what type of hair you are wanting...my stylist did not bother to read mine at all...she simply picked it up and brought it to the receptionist desk - I was asked the very same questions that I had already responded to on that paper and I was ignored verbally and in writing by this place...never ever again. Some stylists simply have no concept as to how to bring out your features which is what people want..this is not the salon to go to if you are looking for a total change. It's also in a pissy location next to the movie theatre....so when you walk out your are lambasted by high winds....just not an ideal spot to get your hair done - period...With winter coming, find a place with closer parking not located in an architectural nightmare of a wind-trapped outdoor mall. I am sure they will have some B.S. excuse for all of this, but there is none and I certainly have better things to do than complain when not warranted. I am telling you - GO ELSEWHERE. read more

This review is strictly in regards to their front desk and not an actual hairdresser. I had a hair appointment Wednesday, Nov. 15th. Everything went great until I went to pay for my service. The 3 young women sitting at the front desk could not be more immature or unprofessional. In addition to an attitude Tianna overcharged me by $80. Maybe if she had been paying attention to her job and not her side conversation she wouldn't have made the mistake. During the transaction she and the other 2 young women told another customer several times that they did not do updo's, not even curls for a client. Which is interesting because I had JUST had the same conversation with my hairdresser who told me they do them all the time. Tianna called me later to correct the $80 she overcharged me. I asked if I could address it in person the next day. She said she wouldn't be at the salon the next day and that no one else would know it happened. So against my discomfort I provided her my credit card number over the phone. I called the next day to speak with a manager and spoke with Elaine who was very nice. I explained the situation and the fact that their front desk people are the first and last experience a customer has. Elaine apologized and said she was very sorry for what had happened and that she would speak with Tianna. I pointed out to her that people tip based on the service amount (hello, I was charged $80 MORE than I should have been...). Again, she apologized. It would have been nice of Elaine to offer a financial compensation, even if just $10 off my next appointment. I've been a customer for a year, I've spent hundreds of dollars, I've written a glowing review and have recommended my hairstylist to everyone I know. I chose this salon and stylist after getting a really bad haircut at another salon and doing extensive analysis of online reviews. At first, I was very pleased with the color and the new look they gave me. However, after suffering through their lack of focus and attention to detail for the past year and a half, I am never going back. There is no consistency or continuity at this salon, even though Dede (the manager) has cut my hair every single time and my color has not changed. They know I have an allergy and need to take special care to remove all the color, but if I don't constantly remind them, they forget. Last month, they left my eyebrow color on way too long, and I had to look like Graucho Marx for 2 weeks. Yesterday, they forgot to shampoo my eyebrows yet again (because three different people took turns during my color process). As I write this review, I look like a clown with burning red puffy eyelids and eyebrow areas. (This has happened at least three or four other times after I visited their salon, and they wrote it down on my customer color card so they supposedly would not forget.) I have been going to this salon for 5 years and I used to see Eileen but since I usually cant get an appointment with her and since she is working in a new location, I now see the stylist who used to be her personal assistant, Ray. She has all the skills and more. Ray is not only sweet but she is very precise, on time and warm. You can really see that she enjoys what she does. A few weeks ago she did an ombre on me since I wanted to change it up and I was delighted. Since I have black hair and I wanted a quick change, she explained to me the pros and cons of 1 seating versus coming in a few times to lighten my hair gradually without damaging my hair. She was more worried about the health of my hair than anything else, and that's what sold me.I couldn't be any happier!! I was just in a few days ago for hair treatment, which is a must have. When I moved to the area and was looking for a new stylist, I had heard good things about PR, I decided to give them a try. I had an appointment with Jenn Renee, who was awesome!! After seeing her a few times, we decided to make a pretty drastic change to my hair style. I showed her a picture of what I was hoping for, and she nailed it! When I went back a couple months later to get a trim, Jenn was no longer with the salon. I told the receptionist that I was open to trying someone else, but was apprentice because Jenn did such a great job. The receptionist scheduled me with Debbie, who was new to the salon. I explained to Debbie that this was the first time I have had my hair this short, and was really happy with the way Jenn cut it. I showed her the picture and explained the technique that Jenn used (because Jenn explained it to me before she did it). Debbie didn't seem interested, and said there were many techniques she could use to give me the same cut. I certainly understand that everyone has their own way of doing things, but I was genuinely disappointed when I felt like I wasn't being heard. The final product was okay, but nothing like I had asked. Fortunately, I found that Jenn Renee was now at Brush Strokes Salon in old town Herndon, and I am much happier! Such a cute salon. I have been going to Winston for a little over a year now. I could not be happier!! I'm one of those who had the same stylist for years on end. When that stylist left the country, I was devastated and apprehensive about finding someone new. I tried PR at Partners in Reston on a whim and I was over the moon after my first appointment with Winston. He's got his finger on the pulse of what's trending in cuts and colors, but he's able to tailor his craft to the style of his client. Whether you want understated and professional or funky and wild, he can do it all. I've gotten more compliments on my highlights and haircut in the last year than I have in the last 25yrs combined. Every time I see him, he tries something different for me and I inevitably love it even more than the last time. I have a round-ish face and was apprehensive about short hair, but I wanted to donate it. Winston chopped it off for me and gave me a great pixie cut that has gradually grown out over the last year, always flattering and never falling in the mom-hair trap. His cuts also grow out beautifully, so I don't look like a shaggy dog if I can't see him right when I need to. Word the wise though: he does book up in advance, so give yourself a couple weeks to get an appointment if you're looking for weekday evenings. He's well worth it!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM!!!! read more
