Service above and beyond! I traveled from Alaska looking for a Pedego Boomerang I read about on YouTube. Eduardo was in the shop and he had the bike ready for me to see and test ride. Sadly, the bike in stock was too big but he was confident the smaller frame 24"inch tires would work. He took my information both he and the owner research how to ship to Alaska which was cost prohibitive. They were willing to try to put this together which was more than other shops would do. Ed was excellent! I brought our e-bike in for a badly needed tune up. He explained the basic tune up service in detail. Access to the rear wheel components was a challenge for him but he went above and beyond to do the repairs and re-wire it to make it easier the next time we bring it in. We rode these things all the way up the Johnny cash trail to the Folsom Dam and back down to the Hazel dam. The Pedego bikes handled great and the power was amazing. We have been those trails many times, but you have a whole new experience on these things. Great...now I need to buy some. But until then I may be back for another test drive. Dealing with staff at Practical Cycle has been great, until meeting with Tim, the owner. Sift through the reviews, including his old location, and you'll see a few encounters of what Tim's really like. Awhile back, I bought a bike bag from Practical and Tim would have nothing to do with matching up with an online shop I frequent. As a matter of fact, he did some price gouging of the bag I purchased - higher than the suggested retail price. Also, because we needed repairs on our bikes - it's one of the brands he carries, Tim also charged us extra for the parts to get our bikes running. As I questioned this, he tried to brow beat us into saying he did US a favor and the quality of work they do, and expecting us to pay his prices. True, things were working great, but shove this "We're doing you a favor," attitude down your throat, when it should be standard?! With Tim, be prepared for possibility of the customer being wrong and your encounters with Tim to be stressful. Do I recommend going to Practical Cycle? Yes, I do. They sell good quality bikes. Look around at their bikes and accessories, try them out, then look elsewhere for better prices. Just in time, other bike shops have recently started carrying Practical Cycle's brands nearby. read more

Got kicked out for mentioning Amazon. Everything was great, until I mentioned that I was going to look up the price of the tires I was looking at on Amazon. Tim, the owner, interrupted the interaction with his employee and I to start mentioning everything he felt was wrong with buying from Amazon, and then started to accuse me of coming in with the "goal of buying on Amazon." The tire I was looking at wasn't EVEN ON Amazon. It was $30 online, $40 in store and I was deciding to purchase it in store. What happened after? We rented 4 ebikes from Practical Cycle for most of the day. The shop is well located next to the trail and rode down to the Sac State Aquatic Center to watch the Youth Nationals Regatta. The bikes were a lot of fun and the motor definitely helped on some of the hills. The trail around Lake Natoma is a nice one. Midway through the ride the motor on one of the bikes died. When we got it back to the shop, the owner was quite accommodating and gave us a fair deal considering. I liked the shop and rental experience. read more
