After going over my annual dental insurance limit and being hit with a big bill, I paid in installments only to find out that during Covid, when I lost my job, the practice had referred my account to a collection agency - they call it an "accelerator." Nice euphemism for we don't give a shit about you, give us our money. Hilary, Mackenzie, and Meghan (surgical medical staff) have fun, contagious, uplifting personalities and humor. When you're with them, it's almost like you're with friends. It's not what you'd expect from an oral surgeons office, but it sets a high standard for all dentistry in our area- surgical or not. I live in Troy and work in Clifton Park and I am 100% not only willing but eager to drive to Albany for this practice. The delay waiting for the apt. and benefit grab of hundreds for that first appointment, makes it harder to switch to a better office like Cap District Oral Surgeons. BEFORE a CONSULT, and before you walk through that door, require they contact insurance for a prior auth and obtain a COPY. Actively involve insurance! DONT BE THE DESPERATE FOOL they profit from! Their shadiness cost pain, delay of care, and loss of 2k worth of an annual dental insurance benefit. After rep verified procedure was covered in full by insurance with no deductible, the manager changed it up to require a cash down payment for the surgery now stating the "surgery" was billed differently allowing them to demand cash also!!! All of it should have been with our insurance - with no deductible! How in the world can the X-rays and expensive 15 minute consult be in network and covered at 100 %, but the extractions also covered at 100% demand a huge CASH down payment at the highest estimated cost! But the crown popped off, it was more than 5 years old since the original implant. The original crown was with another practitioner, but Dr K was able to clean and prepare the crown for reimplantation. Less than two day wait to be seen, less than 5 minute wait for the actual appointment in office. After approximately 10 minutes, my problem was solved-- the crown was re-cemented in place. I threw out the gummies. I use GEHA high option for insurance, and have never been disappointed with my share of the cost for services. GEHA allows three cleanings per year, and I have zero co-pay. No fees for parking on New Scotland Ave is another added attraction. I have never had a bad transaction with Dr Kanakasabapathi or her polite staff. I began with her office prior to the Covid epidemic.
