You will lose HUNDREDS when you want to change oral surgeons after you find out they suddenly demand the " highest" cash deposit .. or find out the office just made the network policy "change" to exclusively make things difficult for YOU! The delay waiting for the apt. and benefit grab of hundreds for that first appointment, makes it harder to switch to a better office like Cap District Oral Surgeons. BEFORE a CONSULT, and before you walk through that door, require they contact insurance for a prior auth and obtain a COPY. Actively involve insurance! DONT BE THE DESPERATE FOOL they profit from! Their shadiness cost pain, delay of care, and loss of 2k worth of an annual dental insurance benefit. After rep verified procedure was covered in full by insurance with no deductible, the manager changed it up to require a cash down payment for the surgery now stating the "surgery" was billed differently allowing them to demand cash also!!! All of it should have been with our insurance - with no deductible! How in the world can the X-rays and expensive 15 minute consult be in network and covered at 100 %, but the extractions also covered at 100% demand a huge CASH down payment at the highest estimated cost! The dental staff and dentist were lovely. Their requirement of a full payment up front to be seen for a consultation and then holding that payment until after they cash the insurance check, even with the insurance company determination (and check number they mailed)stating I was not responsible for a payment. Today the billing department stated it could take 2 more weeks for me to see that refund. I didn't realize I was in the money lending business. Seems odd they knew what my insurance would cover for the second visit while in my first visit but couldn't figure out I wouldn't owe anything for that first visit. read more

Apparently, missing an appointment is a luxury medicaid patients are not afforded. The receptionist making my appointment had me on the phone for 30 minutes making my appointment. No biggie. By the end, she switches up and cruelly informs me that I will not be seen at this practice, because of one appointment I missed 2 years ago. This is a cruel practice, to blacklist medicaid patients for missed appointments. I was very upset by the way this practice treated me. I was in tears after the phone call. Staff were all very nice the entire time I was there. They were upfront about costs and answered all my questions with no judgement. Gave very good after care instructions and were just very nice. Once again. I have had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately the main reason for coming to this practice was to have an evaluation of my tooth. My appointment was for 7 am. I got there around 6:45 and was greeted by two very happy and cheerful young ladies. After filling out paperwork I was promptly called in' Mandy did a wonderful job preparing the room for the time when I was going to be seen by Dr. Chang. Upon looking at my tooth he agreed that it needed to be extracted and asked if I wanted to go ahead and doing right then. I of course said yes since I had been in a lot of pain. He successfully removed it without any complications. I would recommend this practice and would also highly recommend Dr Chang. Thank you for making this an easy process. read more

First off; I had to pay out of pocket for my procedure. I had to get 3 teeth extracted but they only extracted two. Second, After my procedure they did not follow up. Third The office staff and supporting techs (not the doctor) we're jerks. That's putting it lightly. I went to see Dr. Preceruti to consult about a bone cyst I had . I needed new dentures so I wanted to see how involved it was to take care of the cyst I'm my jaw. He told me that I needed to go to a teaching hospital where someone can place plates in my jaw in case my jaw breaks during the procedure and that he didn't know anyone in this area who does this surgery and couldn't reccomend. He " didn't do this type of surgery". He scolded me telling me I should have taken care of this 20 years ago. I never had this 20 years ago I'm fact I only knew about it 7 years ago but was not ready to have this surgery. Anyway, he scared me half to death, made me feel I was unusual bc of HIS incompetence. I walked out of there feeling like a freak looking for doctors I'm out of the way cities until I realized that most competent oral surgeons are capable of doing this procedures. I need to cancel an appointment because there was a sudden death in my family and we had to rush and I gave a call because I didn't want to leave them on the hook but nobody picked up the phone so I left a voicemail to cancel the appointment but they never called me back to confirm the cancellation. Terrible place to get a dental implant. They rarely communicate with you and it's nearly impossible to communicate with anyone. When you call, there is no easy way to ask questions, as you have to know the extension number and they never shared this information with me. Email is also complicated as you have to create an account on a 3rd party site. You can't get into the place without an appointment. I wanted to get a copy of a 3D scan, and I had to create an account, log in to get and sign a release form to tell them that I was authorized to get my own medical information, and then when they ignored my request, and I called them back to find the status, they told me it would cost me $450 to get a digital copy of my own PHI. ($300 for the copy and $150 for the radiologists fee) Outrageous. I wonder if this violates HIPAA regulations? read more

Referred there by orthodontist that medical procedure needed to be performed that a dentist could not do. Asked and confirmed during consultation that this was a medical procedure and not dental. Prior to procedure was contacted for out-of-pocket cost which must be paid prior to procedure. Everything went fine. Then received a multi-thousand $ invoice as dental insurance denied. Called ot confirm and was told that this was a dental/cosmetic procedure. Opposite of what we were told initially. Now stuck with a bill. ASK more questions upon consultation. GET IT IN WRITING. Impossible to communicate with unless scheduling an appointment. Doctor was excellent and procedure successful. read more

The attractive but flustered receptionist quickly became upset with my questions as to what was going on. She had me sign paperwork and told me they would be giving me aspirin with a narcotic. I wanted to know what the narcotic was and she revealed oxycodone and then said I was being rude to her. After 15 minutes a pudgy kid emerged from the office and said he wanted to speak with me in the hallway and told me he was Doctor Lynch and then stated that he was refusing service because I was rude to the receptionist. This appeared to be the one procedure he had performed on a daily basis with his patients. My review only covers the appointment process for an extraction because after speaking to the receptionist 3 times, the process was just not worth it and I went somewhere else. First time I called, the appointment was denied because I did not know the tooth number. The second call was not successful because my referral was not specific enough. The third call I gave up because after way too many personal questions, I was informed the policy was always to schedule a consultation and possibly an expensive X-ray before the procedure. I have a wonderful dentist who sent the X-ray with the referral for extraction so this is just to collect more money. I have been here twice and I LOVE them. 1st time I had a wisdom tooth and the molar next to it removed because the wisdom tooth was pushing into the molar. Most dental pain I have ever been in. I had no insurance and it was right before Christmas. The oral surgeon asked if I wanted anesthesia and I said no it's too expensive. He pulled them and because I was paying cash gave me a decent discount. The 2nd time I had insurance and got the other 3 out. Everyone is friendly, compassionate, and helpful. My Child had an appointment for wisdom teeth and was scheduled for surgery soon after. The nurse in training was absolutely amazing with my child and other children, even adults in the office that i saw her interact with, making them laugh and being very personable towards them. She informed us that she previously specialized in special education, which I loved due to my child being on the spectrum and having ADHD. Her trainer and the dentist himself on the other hand were rude and very condescending, I felt very sorry for the poor girl in training. Upon returning on the surgery day, my child was looking for this specific young lady. We were informed that she was fired, very sad to let such an amazing spirit go for what I am guessing by the way the trainer and dentist treated her was for no reason in particular. The dentist and trainer should have been the ones to be fired. People with that girls personality should be in every medical office to comfort patients, specifically children, in such a high anxiety situation. I came here after being told I had a tooth that could not be saved. I have Delta Dental insurance but they told me they didn't accept it. I would have to pay out of pocket. The $12,000 for an implant was out of the question. So I went with the cheaper option of pulling the tooth. This was in July. I needed to file my annual out of pocket charges with my FSA and went to Delta to get all my out of pocket charges for regular dental. I found out that Adirondack had also been paid by Delta Dental! So they were paid by me and Delta and when I called to inquire, they told me I didn't have a credit balance on my account. It has taken me three months and at least a half dozen calls to get my money back! This practice is not in the up and up. read more

My sister is profoundly deaf and needs an interpreter for medical consultations. This office refused to provide her with an appropriate interpreter as is required by law. They were trying to force her to pay herself. We have never had an issue with any other medical practice she has used, and there have been many. When I questioned the legality of their actions they refused to treat her and are trying to pass her off. They couldn't care less about her wellbeing. After calling the day I found out I was pregnant to make sure my apt the next week would not be a waste of my time nor the doctors I was told I would be fine because its just a constellation. I arrive today (yes having to take time off from work having to drive an hour north and make up that time from work since money doesn't grow on trees). I immediately needed to get an additional x-ray done I also immediately informed them I am very newly pregnant they say its okay but if I really want to ask my doctor before hand I can so I do the x-ray. Only to find out ten minutes later they wont do anything until I am in the second trimester. To say I was mad is an understatement. I even said I called prior to to make sure this would not happen and all my reply was sorry the receptionist wouldn't know that. Is it really that hard for the receptionist to ask the surgeon I could get a call back it didn't need to be right then. My dentist found an anomaly on my xray and referred me to these folks to have things checked out. I should probably mention upfront that I have 8 wisdom teeth (no joke), none of which have been removed. None of which need to be removed. So I went to Adirondack Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. The oral surgeon stuck his fingers in my mouth and told me I needed a CT scan. I was "examined" by this doctor for less than 5 minutes. I went for the CT scan and called for my results. I was told that there was a cyst on one of my wisdom teeth and, because it was an inside wisdom, two teeth would have to be removed. I scheduled the surgery. Two days before the surgery, I received a phone call from the imaging place. The oral surgeon had "checked with my insurance company" and told me that I did not need pre-approval. However, without pre-approval, the imaging place can't get paid and are not allowed to charge me directly. Not my problem, but these poor people can't get paid because of a mistake on the part of the oral surgeon. I did what I could and called the insurance company, but was told that there's nothing I can do. The next day, the day before my surgery, Adirondack OMS called me to confirm everything. They started by explaining that extracting 8 teeth would cost me over $2000 out of pocket. "Wait a minute, " I said. "You're only taking TWO teeth. Not 8." "Oh oh, hold on," she said, and put me on hold. When she came back, she told me that anesthesia was not covered by my insurance for a single tooth extraction. Me: "Wait, what? I just told you that you are removing two teeth. One so you can get to the one with a cyst, and then the one with the cyst." Her: "Oh, oh, hold on." She comes back on the line "Well, our records show that you have 8 wisdom teeth, so I was correct the first time." Me: "Yes, I do have 8 wisdom teeth. I'm also 35 years old. If those teeth needed to come out, it would have been a problem long before now. The issue here is that there is a cyst on one of my teeth and it's behind another tooth." When she still didn't understand what I was trying to explain to her, I canceled my surgery. If a practice can't even keep proper enough records that they know what's going on (especially when they call to confirm and explain the wrong procedure), I'm not going to give them the opportunity to do ANYTHING to me, especially while I'm under anesthesia. read more

The first problem the people they have working there have no clue how to do their job, specially how to do insurance claims, so if you have to have work done there make sure that if they say 2000 dollars check why they are charging all that money. Second The Reception staff is complete incapable of dealing with a busy medical office they ignore you and treat you like a piece of nothing, and talk to you like you have a mental disability. If i could leave zero stars i would. I took my 12 year old son here for an oral consult prior to braces. This was a CONSULT to remove a fee teeth before the braces were applied. The physician came flying into the exam room, without introducing himself, and started with a loud tone of SO WHATS THE PLAN HERE? As if i am the dr and not the patients mother. He then began yelling and berating the dentist about his lack of information when everything was pretty well spelled out on the referral. I booked this apt with the impression i was going to get a CONSULT with some options for my child's teeth that he will have for the rest of his life. I finally figured out the Drs name, Dr. Preceruti, after asking the tech once he was done hollering and acting completely unprofessional and left the room. The tech assured me that she would call me in 1-2 days to schedule surgery after speaking with Carters actual dentist. Here we are almost two weeks later, a follow up for braces in 4 days, and no one has even reached out regarding surgery. This place is a pathetic excuse for a drs office and Dr. Preceruti should he absolutely ashamed and embarrassed how he treats his patients. read more

Took over two weeks for an emergency appointment which my son would have went septic if I didn't get him to a doctors. They didn't care that he had an access and could do anything to help me. Then once I got in they couldn't do anything till the CT scan comes back. The nurses are very argumentative with where I wanted the scan done and argued with that I wanted done closer to home. Had the scan done and now we are two and half weeks later and they still haven't given me the results. I have called the office twice and spoke with same receptionist and was told they would put a not in for the doctor and his team. No response back from the first phone call. Called again and was told the same story that they would call me back by today. I would recommend this place as they have horrible customer service and don't care about the child. read more

Worst experience ever. Staff is rude and seems to enjoy the power they have over their patients and families. Also, 'no' seems to be their favorite word using covid19 as their justification. Having a father who is 91, blind and deaf and panicked when I'm not near at hand didn't seem to matter to them. They never even calmed him by telling him where I was. Their 'protocol' was more important. And though they claimed that every doctor was following this 'protocol' I knew this to be untrue because of all the doctors we had had appointments who actually even let me in the room where he was being examined. After 9 months of caring for him I was upset and stressed. Their process was one I had never experienced at any other doctor's office. I'm use to going to doctors with him and sitting in the waiting room while he visited his doctor. Not with these people. Their waiting room was entirely empty but I wasn't allowed to sit their in case my father needed me. First the excuse was they were going to have a rush of patients soon (?). Then it was that a young boy was in one of the doctors rooms that we were no where near (?). No, they expected me to sit in my car at 90 degrees until they called me on a cell phone that was running out of juice when the surgery was done.. Further more the girl who came out to take his temperature watched him try to manage 2 sets of marble stairs with a walker. She then watched him drag himself down a very long corridor without once offering a wheel chair. She made it sound like they didn't have any and yet when his surgery was done and he was brought out it was in a wheelchair. Subjecting my father to the extensive walking he had to do was simply unconscionable. They escalated the situation I presented and never once showed any empathy or concern in putting my mind at ease. They were closer to sending him and me home if I did not stop causing a 'scene' When his surgery was finished no one came out to explain how the surgery went. No one came out to tell me about follow up treatment. No one came out to explain medications they had prescribed without telling me. Instead 2 people I had never met brought him out a back door in a wheel chair they 'didn't have' and then handed me a plastic bag in lieu of a personal explanation. They were nice but they had no knowledge of his case. The doctor did not come out once after the surgery. He only came out when the initial chaos started basically to send me home if I did not 'behave'. There was no mention about prescriptions for him which they had called into the pharmacy without informing us. So without that knowledge we drove right past the drug store without stopping in for his prescriptions. I had to make a separate trip, 30 minutes each way, to get them only after I called to ask why they had sent him home without mentioning prescriptions were waiting for him. Unfortunately they are one of the few local places to have teeth pulled out in difficult circumstances (In my father's case, he was taking Eliquis) I had no choice but to be abused, insulted and put in a position where I had no sense of certainty that my father was being well treated. My father was fearful that I had left him there alone expressing it to me when we were in the car going home. Was I annoyed, confrontational, and quite colorful in my language, yes, but I'm a stressed out care taker watching my father slowly dying. I ended up sitting on the staircase sobbing. I would never go their again and will never recommend this doctor or practice unless, like me, you have a certain condition that prevents you from having surgery in an oral surgeons office. I had my wisdom teeth removed here in the Summer of 2016. The process was seamless with no issues at all- i.e. explanation of procedure, actual procedure, billing, etc. I had to follow up for an abnormality on the x-ray twice, in the Summer of 2017 and just today. My only complaint is that today I did not see the doctor. Not even just a cursory step into the room with me. I literally did not lay eyes on the doctor. The nurse explained everything to me, and was very informative, but I thought I had scheduled an appointment to discuss something personal, an abnormality, with a fully qualified doctor. So that was disappointing. But in terms of getting your wisdom teeth quickly removed they are great. read more

I had an implant placed in November. It was the most painful dental experience I have ever had, both during and for 2 weeks after the procedure. I returned in March to have the healing cap placed on the implant. It turned out the implant was not successful, and it had not fused to the bone. The dentist could not even touch the implant without me experiencing excruciating pain. He became annoyed and indicated he could not proceed, and that the implant would have to be removed under general anesthesia. Having been very displeased with the two previous visits to this dentist, I decided to go elsewhere to have the implant removed. It was removed by another dentist under simple novocain with no pain what so ever. When I inquired how it could be removed with no pain after having been so painful when the dentist who placed the implant at Adirondack tried to do so, the only explanation he could provide was that somehow I had not been properly numbed by the doctor who placed the implant. Given the pain I experience both when the implant was placed and when it was initially attempted to be removed, I believe I was not properly and fully numbed when I underwent the procedures at Adirondack. As the cost of the implant was over $2000, I requested a refund since it failed to ever properly fuse with the bone and in consideration of the substantial pain and discomfort experienced. I did not even receive the courtesy of a response. Frankly, I was not optimistic that my money would be refunded, but I did at least expect the courtesy of a response. I believe this action is incredibly unprofessional. read more
