Stayed here with my students to take part in a conference/student event. The front desk staff were *stellar*, super friendly and helpful with each interaction. The hotel interior is absolutely beautiful and serene - sophisticated and colorful art graces each hallway. The lobby is spacious and comforting. The location is primetime Tacoma, walking distance to the convention center (1 block), Pantages Theater/Rialto Theater (2 blocks) and many restaurants. I actually think if they updated their *exterior* it would take this hotel to a 5 star hotel. It seems a bit dated outside, but walking inside is a breath of fresh air! The room was clean and updated. Housekeeping was done daily (we stayed for 3 nights) and top notch. Gym was good.. 2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, a bike, a full free weights rack and two other machines, 1 weight bench. Each time I went to the gym, I was alone, so thumbs up from me for accessibility. *Runners know, however... the treadmills were on a 0.5-1.0 incline which is pretty much death. :) Not sure if it's the floor or the treadmills themselves, but they're both on a slight hill. Parking was easy, and they provided a nightly discount for our conference! Thank you to Hotel Murano and their manager for this. The staff were kind and the overall aesthetic was fine. Unfortunately the floor I was on had some unpleasant smells. I am sensitive to synthetic fragrances so it may not be an issue for everyone but it seemed like maybe they were covering up previous smoking damage with more chemicals or something! It was overpowering and I had to hold my breath in the hallway. It was a little better in my room but still an uncomfortable place for me to spend time. Additionally, I woke in the middle of the night to a strong smell of marijuana, which I assume was coming from another room. I'm not sure what their policy is on smoking, perhaps that was the issue. I ended up sleeping with the windows open which helped some, though it is a little noisy downtown so this may not work for everyone. Also their food safety rating was "Okay" at the time of my visit. The drinking water also tasted very chlorinated to me. The bed was comfortable and it is in a nice location (easy park at the hotel and to walk to restaurants), but the other factors make it so that I won't visit again. read more

We were excited to try out this hotel; unfortunately, around 2:00 a.m., I found what I believed was a bed bug on my pillow. We immediately inspected the mattresses and contacted the front desk. The staff offered to move us to another room, but after thoroughly checking our room and finding no additional bugs or signs of infestation, we still felt uneasy about the possibility that another room could be worse. Given the late hour and the difficulty of finding another hotel, we decided to remain awake in the room until daylight. We carefully rechecked the entire room and, thankfully, found no more evidence of infestation. We also thoroughly inspected all of our belongings and temporarily moved them to the bathroom while waiting for the front desk manager to arrive. I'm honestly not sure which would be worse--a tick or a bed bug. If it was a tick, does that mean the sheets weren't changed? Update -- March 4, 2026 (approx. 6:00 PM): When I spoke with the front desk staff around 2:30 AM and again at approximately 6:30 AM, I was told that the manager would be reaching out to me. I returned to the front desk around 8:00 AM and spoke with another staff member, who informed me that the manager, Anthony, had not arrived yet. I requested that he call me back. As of 5:47 PM, I have still not been contacted by anyone from Hotel Murano. However, I was charged over $222 for the night, despite this being the worst hotel experience we have ever had. read more

A very nice hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. I was upset that the in-house restaurant is open only for breakfast and lunch, but that only affects convenience. There are numerous restaurants within a 10 minute radius. Hotel Murano does have one feature that I have never seen in a hotel before. They have small art exhibits on floors 4 - 25. They have an actual gallery on the lobby floor too. I was impressed with their elevators! There are three elevators and from the lobby to the seventh floor took less than three seconds, but the motion did not feel like an amusement park ride. Very smooth. My room had a view of Mt. Rainier and the Tacoma Dome. There were a couple buildings in the way, but I could see the mountain and make out the top of the Dome. As far as the room, it was very nice. I had a king size bed and the room had a coffee maker (NOT a Keurig), a small square refrigerator to hold four or five cans or bottles, flat screen tv, room safe in the wardrobe, and a little couch. I thought my bed was very comfortable, but a friend staying at the same time complained his bed bothered his back. I enjoyed my time at Hotel Murano and wouldn't mind staying here again. read more

I cannot believe this place is $300 a night. Far from the upscale hotel we were expecting, especially since capital one lists this as one of its "premium" hotels. Parking is confusing, they have multiple levels but no signage on the first level that there is more parking. So we spent lots of time circling for spots for no reason since we didn't know better. Kids were playing hockey and wrestling in the hallways. The glass on the back of the elevators is smashed. The carpet is peeling up in the lobby. The rooms are in poor condition and not super clean. The shower caddy is covered in rust and multiple spots of peeling paint in the room. There is dust on all the ac vents and the windows have black gunk on the tracks. If we paid $100 I'd probably look past this but at this price point I'm shocked this hotel isn't in better condition. Plus was that we did have a great view from our room. read more

Update: They never honored the promise to partially refund our broken room. We were stuck paying full price. We took the kids here in lieu of our Christmas getaway to Leavenworth (it flooded). Jacuzzi jets don't work (the one thing the kids were counting on). Rollaway sofa bed collapses under our weight. Nothing room service can do, appreciate the promised compensation but this is a massive disappointment. The Keurig in the room was stocked only with tea and decaf. Seems passive aggressive. The tv was temperamental and it stopped working entirely. We called for assistance. It never came. The lounge is... an empty office supply room. Peppermint chocolate espresso martini was excellent but basically completes my impression this place is completely cosmetic without any real promised quality read more

I have continued to attend an annual conference here, and the experience continues to be very meh. The conference facilities and conference food are mostly very good, other aspects of the hotel continue to be aged and a letdown (e.g. broken elevators keeping mobility-limited conference attendees from easily accessing different conference sessions). Diamond is also weirdly aggressive with the parking at the adjacent lots, ticketing attendees who had paid for parking. I just don't think this place is worth the money. read more

This is my first time staying at Hotel Murano but my second time attending a conference at this location. Upon entering the lobby, you are hit with beautiful glass artwork, with each floor providing a themed piece of artwork as well. From the comments of my coworkers, the 7th floor art piece is a sight to see. Customer service was great! They came in clutch with a print job that we needed. The business room which houses two desktops and a printer were great offers, however, their printer was not allowing me to print. Though staff mentioned it was free to use, I couldn't print whatsoever. In lieu of that, the front desk staff offered to print it themselves. Overall, all of the workers I've had the chance of interacting were wonderful! Cannot say anything bad whatsoever! The reason that they get a 3 star from me is because they really need to remodel and fix their rooms, or at least the one that I had. The room we had was very spacious, however, there were things that were very suspect. Having two toddlers with us, I always check the room for any items that could hurt them. The coffee table was certainly a disaster waiting to happen, kid or no kid. The top of the table (see one of the photos provided) is made of glass, however, it isn't anchored to the wooden part of the table. I was in the process of moving the table somewhere else when lo and behold, the glass top slightly slid off. Other issues I found during our two day stay: - Bathroom issues: One of the bathrooms (we had two) wasn't functioning. The toilet, for one, did not flush. Secondly, the outlet to this same bathroom did not hold my hairdryer plug well. The plug kept falling out of the outlet because of how loose it was. The shower head was rusty too. - Dining table: Previous guests spilled coffee on the table. Because the top of the table is made of glass and it sits on wood, the coffee dripped in between the glass and the wood. Pretty gross wiping the sides since it wasn't wiped down at all. - Door: I found it weird that the door didn't have a latch because every hotel I ever stayed in had it. In particular to this, the room I stayed in was near the stairs. I've heard of horror stories so having that latch would have helped with my anxiety. After mentioning this to my coworkers, they all mentioned that their doors had the latch. - Elevator: Management should consider using guest keycards for elevator use. Anyone can come and go on the floors which is not very safe. This is certainly not a bad thing and seems to be new from my last visit last year. They now have a vending machine on the bottom floor- where the conference are held- with medication such as Aleve, etc. And if you want some hanky panky, condoms are also available for purchase in the vending machine. read more

I was "upgraded" to the 25th floor, however, was not told about the proximity to the elevators and the annoying pounding/hammering noises they make every few seconds. When it didn't stop, I called the front desk at 11 p.m. and was told it was the elevators and I couldn't move to another room because they were all booked. Received a complimentary breakfast but it did not make up for a night of lost sleep. It's a decent hotel, but if you book here, ask for a room away from the noisy elevator shafts. read more

I went to hotel Marano, to Bar960 on a Thursday night for happy hour; first of all the hotel is stunning inside!! Tons of artwork and beautiful pieces on display! Everything is beautiful and clean and the hotel staff is so kind and accommodating! The bar was outstanding! They had anything you would like to have. The bartender was so fun! And the bathrooms were so clean and modern. We really enjoyed ourselves! But the food was spectacular!! I cannot wait to go here just for dinner to the restaurant! We had a sample menu at happy hour and it was the best food hands-down that I've had in a while! The Apple fritter breakfast sandwich was to die for!!! I cannot wait to come back and try this sandwich at breakfast time!! The oysters on the half shell were superb and the potato skins and sliders were outstanding. I am so glad we found this place!! My family and I stayed in a one-bedroom suite with a living room and dining area while visiting my mom at the hospital. The suite itself was very spacious, which we appreciated during an already stressful time. However, I was very disappointed to find that the furniture was not clean and had visible stains. Paying the price of a suite and then discovering dirty furniture after settling in was extremely frustrating. We also noticed there was no warm water, and when we turned on the shower, the water came out brown. At that point, I went down to the front desk to request a different room. I was given a new key, but when I went to check the room, it had the same issues--stained furniture, stained carpet, and very dated furnishings. I returned the keys and decided to stay in the original room, as there was no point in moving if the conditions were identical. Overall, the hotel lobby is beautiful, clean, and upscale. The bathroom and shower in the room appeared to be remodeled and were nice, although it was odd that the showerhead itself did not seem to be replaced. The hotel also offers one complimentary drink per person upon arrival, which I always look forward to. The staff were kind and pleasant throughout our stay. I believe this hotel has great potential, but the rooms--especially the furniture and carpets--need serious attention. Replacing or thoroughly steam-cleaning the furniture would make a significant improvement to the overall experience. read more

Thought it was up to standard with all the bedside flyers. We were looking for the remote. And could not locate it anywhere. We called the front desk. They suggested that we looked under the beds. When we did, we noticed a disgusting amount of food and debris under both beds. Then I got anxious and pulled back the bedding and we found earring backs as well as brown stains. I called the front desk and they said they would send somebody up to fix the issue for us. The lady that came up, said she could only bring us new bedding he would have to make her own beds anything we did not like we could leave outside the room. As far as cleanliness that was up to tomorrow stuff not today's and there's nothing further anybody could help us with here. I contacted the front desk again to ensure that they knew what the stuff it said, and they confirmed that that was true. Nothing could be done until tomorrow so we were stuck in a uncleanly room or we could leave basically. read more

Beware booking this hotel. I booked for a stay after a show at the Tacoma Comedy Club in June. The rate was categorized as promotional and non-refundable, The show was postponed until August. I requested to move my reservation. The price was jacked up about $100 to almost $300, also non-refundable. Absolutely no choice at all. Hotel is convenient and centrally located in town. - The staff friendly and professional, but the rooms are very average. - The beds are advertised as Queen size but were much smaller. - There is no fridge or bottled water provided. - The carpet is old and dirty. There is a restaurant on site so no complimentary breakfast is offered. -And parking is $28 a night in a very large, mostly empty parking lot. Not the worst place I've stayed but certainly there are better options in Tacoma. read more

Such a lovely hotel, with amazing Mountain views! Parking was a bit of a hassle to figure out (+ $30 a night) but we loved the restaurant on the 4th floor. You can also walk right across the street to Ebony and Ivory coffee. Would definitely stay again. read more

I had an extremely disappointing experience at the Murano Hotel in Tacoma and would strongly advise others to stay away. First, the restaurant is not worth your time or money. The food was terrible--bland, overpriced, and poorly prepared--and the service was just as bad. Staff seemed uninterested and inattentive, which made the whole experience frustrating. The rooms are another major letdown. They feel completely outdated, like they haven't been touched since the 1980s. For a hotel that positions itself as upscale, this is unacceptable. What really pushed this experience over the edge was the parking situation. Even if you're dining at their restaurant, they will ticket your vehicle--$65 if paid quickly, or $102 after five days. No validation, no warning that's clear enough to prevent it--just a penalty waiting for you. It feels like a blatant cash grab. There are far better hotels and restaurants in Tacoma that actually value their customers and don't resort to this kind of price gouging. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more

Overpriced. I paid $230 for one night, because there was a garage. I wanted my car to be protected. But the garage isn't monitored or gated. The pics online of inside hotel were much nicer than in person. Outside the hotel was rundown and a bunch of homeless around. My room had hair on pillows. The bathtub was clogged and gross. Went to hotel restaurant because it was too scary to walk anywhere near outside the hotel. Worker in restaurant ignored me three times. She was too busy talking to a couple at a booth. She kept looking at me but then she would talk the couple again about some gossip. She seemed to know them personally. I left and came back 3 times and each time she ignored me. The place was dead. Let's be honest, Hotel Murano looks like a fancy place but the experience didn't really live up to the price. The art and design are definitely cool and the location is really convenient. Beyond that, it felt pretty average. The room was clean but nothing special. There was no pool, no hot tub, and no room service, which was kinda disappointing for what we paid. Some of the buttons on the in-room phone didn't even work. When we checked out, it was hard to get help with our luggage, which was pretty frustrating. Overall, it's not a bad place to stay but it feels more like a trendy three star hotel than a luxury spot. We stayed here for our off time (we drive trucks). Check in was smooth and quick. The elevator does go fast so be prepared to feel a little bit of pressure while going up or going down. We stayed in a king bed room, and the room was clean and tidy. They have a bowl like sink, so when washing hands or face, water does go everywhere on the counter. They have a restaurant/bar inside. We didn't try the food, but we did get drinks and they were good. service was good as well. We didn't get to try out any of the amenities because we were only staying for one night. Very disappointing stay after a great first stay last time.....STILL have not received my deposit back and its been 16 days since i checked out, but the managed to take $86 in parking fees when I very clearly stated I would not. My stay at Hotel Murano for New years from December 31, 2024, to January 3, 2025, was extremely disappointing. Despite the beautiful decor in the lobby and upstairs areas, my experience was overshadowed by rude staff, hidden fees, poor cleanliness, and ignored concerns. **The Issues:** 1. **Hidden Parking Fees:** I was not informed of the $26 per night parking fee when booking. Hotel Murano only offers one parking lot; otherwise, you must park on the street, which is free only from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., requiring daily car relocations. As someone with severe asthma, this was impossible for me. When I texted the staff before my stay, they were dismissive, telling me to check the "Frequently Asked Questions." When I suggested this fee should be clearly disclosed during booking, they stopped responding. I emailed the manager one or two days before my stay but received no reply before, during, or after my stay. Forced to pay $78 for parking over three days, my partner parked on the street and had his car broken into, losing all his belongings, including a suitcase. 2. **Unclean Room:** The room was not cleaned properly. There was glass on the carpet and under the bathroom sink, which I discovered when I dropped my makeup. The coffee maker was moldy, making it unusable, and as someone with asthma, this posed a health risk. 3. **Dirty Lounge:** The lounge was dirty and unstocked despite multiple complaints. I paid extra for lounge access, yet the conditions were unacceptable, there was literally a giant pot of cereal in the drawer? Amongst a huge mess 2+ days straight. The Staff:* The front desk staff were dismissive and even gossiped about my friend and me within earshot. I am also confused as to why I paid for three nights when the offer I was sent was buy 2 get 1 night free? Was also supposed to be comped for not having room service all three days and never was. read more

I had the pleasure of staying here the other night, and while the lobby and everything outside the rooms is very nice, the rooms themselves aren't any better than the ones in Fife's Emerald Queen hotel. We were using this as a "meeting" place so to speak, so we weren't that concerned about the quality of the room. However, if I was actually on a trip and had to pay what they charge, I would definitely expect more. As it is, this hotel is more like a no-tell motel with a fancy lobby and nice view, except there are no mirrors on the ceiling..why not? There's glass everywhere else. read more

Hotel is not accessible. Parking lot which is on the property is about a city block from front desk. Lobby-Parking Lot accessible only by an uphill outside walk or a flight of stairs. No elevator. Sidewalk is not lit nor are there handrails. No covered entry to Lobby. Heavy front doors are not automated. There was no Easy Access button. No grab bars in bathtub/shower. Bath towels were skimpy, non-absorbent and frayed. Parking Lot security was good. Activity recorded and guards were seen checking the lot late night. Wait staff in Bite were friendly and efficient. Excellent breakfast. Mediocre dinner. Reservation Add-On for Late Departure that was confirmed by Hotel but was ignored by staff. I was locked out of the room before 1 pm when the late departure was for 2. $25 fee for Late Departure was refunded but it doesn't make up for the incovenience and insolant front desk person. read more

Underwhelming for starters, feels like they put a larger amount of money into making the entry/lobby/lobby bar feel fancy. Then they thought a touch screen elevator was important, the elevators take forever. Then you get to the room after your fancy touchscreen elevator trip and it's basically a motel 6 room with a 20 something inch flat screen tv from 2007. The towels feel more like sandpaper rags, the showerhead feels like it's in "misting" mode. The beds are "comfortable when tired" but in reality not even close to as impressive as the lobby lol I wasn't planning on leaving a review despite not enjoying my stay these last 3 days however when asking if I could get a late checkout since I have a very late flight, I was told no because "housekeeping said so". Not even offered another option like paying a fee for a late checkout or at least being offered the extra hour like almost every other hotel Ive stayed in. To sum it up, this place is a disguised motel charging mid tier hotel prices. Don't bother staying here, there's nicer hotels nearby that are roughly the same price or cheaper read more

I couldn't help but notice the thick smell of stale cigarettes smoke when walking into the lobby. The room didn't smell any better. I started coughing in the middle of the night and my initial thought was, "Oh no, am I getting sick?" The coughing and throat clearing was a bit worse in the morning. I go to the window to check out the scene and notice black spots in the crevices. I'm no expert in the matter but I'm thinking BLACK MOLD!!!!!!! We told the front desk. She didn't seem shocked or concerned, said she'd tell her manager and gave us a coupon for breakfast. The breakfast was fine. Interestingly, a few other patrons in the dining area also had a cough. Things that make you go hmmmm... Thankfully we only stayed one night and wouldn't you know? My cough disappeared as soon as we left. Dr. Google told me one night of exposure to black mold shouldn't cause long term effects. If you enjoy breathing, you may want to avoid this Petri dish. read more

This was a great dog-friendly hotel. I believe it's the old Sheraton. It's nicely remodeled with lots of art everywhere. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was very clean; even the grout was very clean. The lobby bar is great. The Patron Suite has 180 degree views of commencement bay and Mt Rainier. There's a "CVS vending machine" if you forgot the types of things you might need at CVS like a toothbrush. I didn't try the restaurant but got Zeeks Pizza delivered which is nearby. read more

The Hotel Murano lobby is beautiful. But otherwise, the place is a tired, not too clean disappointment. Great view, but the windows are grimey. The vents are covered in black dust. My bathroom smelled like cigarette smoke, and the room smelled like nursing home cleaner. The patron lounge is just a big room with a mini fridge of cans of soft drinks and a then a couple single serve packages of cookies or chips. I thought parking was included, but no. $26 per day, or simply find free downtown parking. There's ample within walking distance. This hotel is overpriced and shabby. It was all I could do not to steal the pillows at Hotel Murano in Tacoma! I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Murano last night after assisting with an evening event in Gig Harbor and was so pleased. I am a big fan of boutique hotels, and this one did not disappoint. Here are just a few reasons for my happy review, let's start from the start: As a woman, they provide ample and safe parking. The security guard on staff was perfectly professional. Just saying, especially when arriving after 10:00pm last night, he made me feel I was safe without coming across as forbidding or unwelcome. The entrance into the hotel from the parking area is spacious, well lit and filled with lovely displays of incredible glass artwork. FYI: The entire hotel is a glass art museum! The gal at the front desk smiled. She was both efficient and genuinely seemed happy to see me. Remember, this was after 10:00! Like many hotels, but still worth mentioning, you have the added security of needing your room key to dash up the elevator. The groovy bar, across from the check-in area, is spacious without feeling like it is a warehouse. My bartender/server was so sweet. Perfectly attentive without hovering. What was his name??? I will call tomorrow to find out and add it in. I upgraded to a King Corner Room, and it was still REALLY REASONABLE! The bed was heaven! The pillows were heaven! The windows were fabulous, and the blackout curtains were even better! I am pretty sure there were people in the rooms next to me, but I could not hear them. Delightful robes! Well there's so much I can say but I'll just say Patty on the 25th floor snack room is amazing and the management went above and beyond to make my stay memorable definitely that and I look forward to another stay to post more. Parking was easy check in was easy but the night staff check in could have educated me more on amenities and the evening security was great chasing out ruff raft. It's not an easy job. But the management did well. The view was impressive and my stay was non forgettable to say the least. I'd definitely recommend staying here the location is so center point of the city and again the management went out of their way to make everything right. Btw the lemongrass soap smells amazing.
