Very upset yes it was busy - had to be put on waiting list. Was told it would be 10-15 mins. Watched as party of 5 got seated - ok maybe they called in. then party of two - then old man - fiancé asked why he got seated - waitress said - oh I didn't notice then call another person that came in after us. We eat there because it's a short walk from Motel 6. Their chicken fried steak is good and on Tuesday it's $6.99. I tried the hamburger steak with mozzeralla cheese and sautéed mushrooms. Don't get that. The hamburger was cooked hours earlier and warmed back up on the grill. The mushrooms were also leftovers. The cheese slightly masked the poor quality. I fed it to our dog. The baked potato and corn were good. Next time I want a chopped sirloin I'll take the short drive to Two Frogs. read more

Our motel was right next door to this restaurant during our trip across the country last week, so we decided to try it. The hostess and the waitress were both super friendly and so cute with their "Ya All's"! The kitchen was really fast in getting out the food. I had a bacon, mushroom and cheddar omelette, hash browns and wheat toast (Being a Californian, I forgot that in most of the rest of the country it's just brown colored bread!) It was all good and huge portions. The boyfriend had eggs over easy, bacon, sausage and biscuits that were covered in gravy. He thought the biscuits were too sweet to put gravy on, but maybe Oklahomaians like sweet biscuits! He ate everything anyway and overall liked it all. We also split an order of pancakes. I asked if they had blueberry pancakes and the waitress said yes, we can put blueberries and whipped cream or apples, etc on top of them. It was then I realized I was talking about fresh blueberries and she was talking about pie filling! LOL I settled for plain old pancakes with butter and maple syrup. They were excellent. read more

I'm afraid I didn't have the best experience when I came to Prairie Kitchen, and it wasn't because of the food. I was pretty satisfied with my chicken fried steak and eggs. The chicken fried steak had a great flavor, and you could tell that it's made in house. I also liked the gravy. The hashbrowns were a little greasy, but that's to be expected. The fruit bowl was a nice touch and had sliced bananas, strawberries and blueberries. A lot better than the basic fruit bowls that most restaurant offer. Where the meal went wrong was the service. It didn't start well, and slightly improved toward the end, but I think our server was having an off night or something. We were greeted by the hostess who took our drink order, then soon after our waitress came and asked for the drink order. I told her we gave it already and she proceeded to tell us, "I'm actually your server." I've had this happen twice recently and it is just off putting. I couldn't care less who takes my order or brings me my drink. Why do you have to demean the hostess by proclaiming you're actually our server? Who cares? It then took her a long time to come back around to take our order. She gave the table next to us his check and chatted for a few minutes. When I finally made eye contact with her, she realized she hadn't taken our order yet and knew she had messed up. It improved from there, but we just weren't a fan of her from the start. I understand that everyone has an off day, but she seemed to be taking care of all of the other tables well enough, and I didn't appreciate her attitude. If it weren't for her, I'd probably give Prairie Kitchen 4 stars, but I had to reserve one until I come back and have a better experience. This place is just one step above a Denny's which is just down the street. I have never had anything bad here but then again I have never had anything off the wall good. I don't get a thrill out of biscuits and gravy or most other breakfast fare and this seems to be what they are good at. I know there are other things on the menu and I haven't tried it all I must admit....but this place is alright nonetheless. I really don't make a habit out of going here since it is pretty much like any other place in this genre. We both had a build your own omelette you were able to pick 3 ingredients then .40 for each additional ingredient. The servings were very large even my 300 lb husband could not finish his. I started a yelp account specifically to report how bad this restaurant is. The place is dirty. I don't mean lunchtime rush dirty, I mean old dirt ground in the carpet, trash on the floor in the prep area, feet stick to the floor, nasty bathroom dirty. The service was terrible, slow and disorganized. The waitresses wore dirty (new spots and old stains) black t-shirts. Table setting was a dirty fork and dirty knife in a dirty paper napkin. Does Oklahoma have restaurant inspections? The iced tea tasted like soap. The grits were runny and tasteless. The gravy was floury and bland. But the ham, eggs, and biscuits were good. And it was cheap. And the waitresses were sweet. If your your mama said a little dirt never hurt anyone, take her to this place. Bring the Purell and order the ham. read more

We came on a road trip because of the great yelp reviews, but were so surprised that it was so bad - across the board. Service was terrible. We sat for at least 15 min before a server took drink orders. We were pretty excited about some home cookin style food, but truly everything we had was bad. My husband had the grilled pork chop and mashed potatoes, both tasted "canned." I had chicken strips and fried okra. How do you mess that up? Went here because of the raving reviews, almost has 5 stars on yelp. I guess the people that have stopped previously are into mediocre super unhealthy food. I think there were 2 salad options (not that I was looking for salad), and I'm no vegan or gluten-free maniac, I was just trying to be more conscious of what was eaten that day. Plates are buffet style, nothing fancy. Water was tap water, you could tell. I ordered a chicken dish with bbq sauce, chives, and cheese - with corn and green beans as sides. Chicken was dry, chives were dry. Cheese was cheddar - barely melted, square cheese. Corn had no seasoning, or taste. Green beans were meh. Ordered my daughter (5 yrs) a spaghetti plate - it included a big helping of spaghetti and a piece of bread on side. Needless to say, I have had much much better. The expectation must have ruined my perception. Nothing more than a hometown butter & bacon diner, that being said - service was impeccable. If you're looking for healthy - or something more than you can cook at home - go elsewhere. read more
